We had high hopes for this place after a lot of bbq research and something not too far off 95. Service was great and only had to wait about 5 min for a table. We got the buffet which we were told everyone gets. The best thing were the lima beans and mashed potatoes. Both were fantastic. Oh and the hush puppies as the reviews stated. But that mac and cheese(which was homemade) had to be the worst ever. No flavor and mushy and dried up. The chicken was just okay. Pecan pie and banana pudding where good too. Not sure if I would stop again. Would probably go somewhere different.

Found this gem on our way home to Canada. Wonderful buffet. Best southern fried chicken I have ever tasted.

Small buffet, one type of BBQ which was a hybrid vinegar/Texas Pete concoction. Hushpuppies were not homemade and obviously frozen/commercial. Macaroni & Cheese & Fried Chicken seemed homemade and were ok. Very disappointing when this had such high ratings. Giving 1 star for food and 2 stars for nice waitress. Really, if you are in the area and can go to Lil Pigs BBQ in Columbia, SC you will see it is sooooo much better, fresher and larger than this and what a BBQ buffet ought to be.

Heading south we wanted BarB que and we got it. The kids had chicken and Mac and cheese. Quick good and just what we needed. We enjoyed the large portions and the Cole slaw.

Pulled pork and pulled chicken BBQ was delish! The vinegar sauce was so good I had to buy some to take home! Hush puppies were great too! Just simple southern cookin in a very casual environment but it hit the spot

Only good thing was the price. Don’t bother stopping here its just frozen mac and cheese, dried out BBQ pork with heavy pepper vinegar sauce. Canned green beans… felt like I was back in high school with the cafeteria buffet. Yuck.

on Sunday they served a buffet. the best items were the fried chicken and hush puppies. the pulled pork was of a variety I’m not use to with a heavy flavor of vinegar. prefer the cole slaw to the mac & cheese.

Excellent food! Buffet was totally worth the $ 7.29. Delicious sweet potatoes and hush puppies and the lemon pie was great(dessert included with buffet). Service was friendly but a little slow. Oh and the BBQ sauce was so good we bought 3 pints to take home!

Been eating here for 20 years on vacations. Best fried chicken in the world as far as I am concerned. Vinegar based BBQ so be aware if you are not in to that. I am and it is amazing here. Get the lunch buffet if you can and sample it all. If you are lucky, catfish stew will be on the menu. Wait staff are wonderful. If you have a sweet tooth, get a sweet tea, a side of yams, and the banana pudding for desert. Then find a dentist.

Great food and long history. BBQ has goon better in the couple of years and their chicken has always been famous. Good plates or buffet. I also liked the tea and desserts. A place frequented by the locals.

I’ve been to D & H Barbecue twice now, once in January, 2012, and once in April, 2014. Both times I thought it was wonderful. I loved the barbecue, the sauce(especially the sauce on the buffet that they warn you about because it sits there all say and gets very spicy), the fried chicken is great and the hush puppies are fantastic. In April I was wearing the tee shirt that I had gotten from them in 2012 and tried to get another one. They didn’t have the color I wanted because they were making up a new shirt design. They took my address and promised to send me one when they were ready… no charge. They are incredibly nice people.

Great fried chicken. Crisp coating and moist perfectly cooked chicken. To my taste maybe the best chicken I’ve eaten. Very good cole slaw candied yams and turnip greens. I stuffed myself on these and didn’t sample Mac and cheese rice or hush puppies. The price can’t be beat. Dinner for two with iced tea and dessert under $ 20.

Quite simply the most disgusting BBQ I have EVER had. Seriously not trying to be mean… The pork was completely soaked in über intense vinegar with waaaay too much pepper. The result? A gagging reflex for both the taste buds and nose. I’m not sure what the cole slaw was made with, really not good either. Rice with hash was edible and hush puppies were not terrible but that’s it. I have eaten BBQ in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Cali and even NY and jersey so I was expecting so much from SC. Texas has everyone beat by way too far. I won’t judge SC on this one bad experience but geez not a good head start!!!

Loved the food! Delicious southern cooking with friendly service. Would have given 5 stars but there were not collared greens on the menu, which are available at other the other Manning BBQ restaurant. Best sweet tea I’ve ever had.

Thanks to Unilocal for leading me to this great Southern gem! If you ever find yourself in South Carolina, D&H is only a short five minute detour from I-95AND unlike other Christian chicken places, they are open on Sundays! It seems to me that D&H is THE place to hang out with neighbors after Sunday church service because as I was walking in I saw a big mess of Southern ladies in their big church hats on their way out. There are two ways to order here: from their takeout counter or eat at their buffet which closes down at two pm. The boy and I were in a rush so we decided to go the AYCE route which was a little less than nine dollars a person. The buffet isn’t up to Vegas standards per say but they did have a nice selection of home cooking staples such as turnip greens, mac and cheese, potato salad, hush puppies, pulled pork, bbq chicken, fried chicken, banana pudding, red velvet cake… and funfetti! This place is REALLY bare bones… they don’t even have an ice machine! Instead they serve cool your drink with ice cubes from a mini cooler in the middle of the dining room. But don’t let that deter you, this place is a great bang for your buck! The fried chicken was perfect. Not too greasy with a crispy skin and moist meat. The hush puppies were out of this world and surprisingly not too greasy as well! Rob raved about the pulled pork BBQ and even helped himself to seconds but I found it to be a little bit too vinegary for my taste. Mac and cheese is hands down the best I’ve ever had(sorry John Legend!). Our servers included a middle aged lady and a high school aged teenager who were gossiping about Kaye Lynne’s auntie’s momma’s cousin Jamie Lynne from the church which was adorable to listen to. They were very friendly and always made sure that our sweet teas were always topped off. If I ever found myself in the area, I’d return again!

A short detour from I-95 took us to this great bbq joint. We were there for the 7.50 lunch buffet which was all the southern-fried, pulled-pork goodness you could hope for south of the mason dixon. The bbq is quite vinegary, but delicious if you go easy on the sauce. For dessert, we had the banana pudding and pecan pie, which were excellent. A great break from the usual highway fair. There’s also a nice little thrift shop next door in which to wander while you digest.
