Tonn’s Grocery Store & Restaurant

I hope Tonn herself reads this. She and her restaurant are AWESOME. Here’s why.
In 1998, I was 23 years old and absolutely CRAVED her cooking whilst pregnant with my son. I came in here twice a week. Tonn would make me Bill’s Chicken & her famous egg rolls and tell me stories about her life before she emigrated to the United States (Wow). She’d talk to my baby, tell him to «grow good and strong» and told me that she wished I «lived closer» to her because if I did, she said she’d «cook for me» every single day.
Years later, I’d order take out and every time Tonn knew it was my order, she’d throw in extra egg rolls, sometimes chopsticks for my hair, a few extra fortune cookies. I still find myself thinking about Tonn (Not many people are beautiful like she is), and I live in San Francisco Bay Area now. I love eating at her restaurant and miss her and her food!
Tonn, Thank You so much for your kindness and for putting all your love into the food which you have made for our community all these years.

Portions are huge. Some of the best eggrolls in town. Staff is very friendly. Atmosphere needs some work but that doesn’t bother me too much. Make sure you get the eggrolls and bring your appetite. The soup on saturday is also very good if you get a chance.

I can’t say enough how much I enjoy eating here with my family! The Owner always greets us personally and makes sure we have «extra». She knows how much spice we like and is always gracious and kind.
The food is amazing! I always order the Sesame Pork «extra spicy» and a few of their famous egg rolls. The rice is always cooked properly and the tea is piping hot. The rest of my Family enjoy the vegetable dishes and the tofu is always firm, fresh and savory.
The location is prime and easy to spot from the street.
If you are looking to feed 3 people for under $ 20 then take a look at this gem of Mankato… Stay open minded and allow the intentions that surround the food overcome any outward imperfections in the presentation of this awesome restaurant.
The Owner has heart… And that makes the food very delicious!!!

Best egg rolls in mankato. Not a high scale place but a local hidden treasure. Use to go here all the time for egg rolls. Other dishes are good too, but if you had to get one thing, it would be tonn’s egg rolls!
