Decided to take a break from our regular Mexican restaurant and try this place out. It was good, quick and fairly cheap. They had large portions and tasted good. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Our food came out super quick, like suprisgnly fast. It was ok, typical Mexican fare nothing memorable. Good place for margaritas and tacos.

I have come here on average of once a month for the past year or so, and it always is a well rounded experience. Atmosphere: Needs a bit of love, some of the booths move and have rips in them and the floor is pretty grungy. The bathrooms need some TLCASAP. Random Mexican memorabilia decorates the restaurant. Sometimes in summer they have a mariachi band if you are into that sort of thing. Location: Good amount of parking. They have a nice area to dine outside at in the summer, it is on a busy road so the ambiance isn’t the most amazing but there is plenty of room for larger groups to enjoy the patio. Service: Very attentive and speedy. If you order food, be prepared to be eating it within 10 minutes of ordering or less(unless you are in a large group). Drinks/Food: Great margaritas. They have a deal Monday through Thursday 4 – 7 p.m. for $ 2.99 margaritas. HUGE tequila selection. Food is great, I’ve maybe been disappointed once? Twice? And that was only because my rice and beans were cold. The actual entrée is always superb. Great enchilada selection. Actually, the menu is huge, if you like Mexican food, you will be able to find something on this menu I guarantee it. They serve complimentary salsa and chips(salsa is on the runny side and is mild).

Solid food! Was visiting family and we came here. I had the veggie plater with one cheese enchilada, one bean tostada, and rice. The enchilada was a little oily but had a pretty good flavor. Salsa was okay but the chips were the best! I would definitely come here again, especially compared to other Mexican food in the area. Prices were reasonable and the food came super quickly. Enjoy!

Pretty bad food, I should have known better when we got the chips. They were not fresh. I have had better chips from Costco. The salsa was not fresh or tasty either. The food came out of the kitchen within minutes, over salted and clearly not fresh. Never again, I can make a better burrito myself at home.

My favorite Mexican in Manitowoc. The chips and salsa are delicious and bottomless. Margs are good and not too expensive. I always get the chicken quesadilla supreme but my friends and family haven’t really ever been disappointed with anything else. I’ve gone to this place ever since it opened and am happy to see the positive progress made!

I really enjoy this place! Food is affordable for the area. The service varies and you can definitely tell the difference in service when they are busy. We were charged $ 1 for sour cream on a burrito. Kind of disappointing. Fun atmosphere and lots to look at. Tables need some help, they are ALWAYS Sticky. $ 2.99 margaritas happy hour during week!

Great service, fast, tasty mexican food. Not gourmet, but I wasn’t expecting it to be. Kid friendly with a kids menu, I took one star off because their bathrooms didn’t have a changing station. And I feel like if you have a kids’ menu, the bathrooms should be equipped for them.

Was in the area and gave it a shot. Food was ok, good value for what you get. Staff was extremely friendly, even though there were a bunch of women fighting next to our table. Was hoping server would apologize for the incident but it’s ok. Food wasn’t as pretty as I saw on pictures posted here but still not bad. If I was in town again I would give them another try

Great food, friendly atmosphere, and a great value! I’ve eaten here several times and consistently, time after time, the food has been perfectly prepared. The service is very friendly and warm, they kinda make you feel like a distant family member. What really makes this place special is the sauces? If you ever eaten at a Mexican restaurant before and thought there isn’t much variety, then you need to eat here. The place makes traditional sauces and salsa that are out of this world.

Don’t be fooled by the unassuming exterior or the kitschy Mexican décor, it’s down to earth authentic entrees. We all enjoys our traditional meals, from fresh guacamole and hot chips as starters to tostadas, carnitas, and more. I really enjoyed my «not from a mix» margarita. Very good service and very clean. We were visiting from out of town but will be back.

Burrito Cancun. Just remember burrito Cancun – honestly, the best burrito I’ve ever had. Seriously. La Carreta lacks some curb appeal but it is a good place. Well decorated inside, prompt service, reasonably priced, and good food. Kids meals are good and are generous for the price. We ate here on Sunday and kids ate free. Eating area outside could be dressed up better and the salsa needs more punch(though perfect for kids), I liked everything else.

Came in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch, and had the beef chimichangas. The place was clean and quiet, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The beef was shredded and not ground, which was a plus. The pico and guac in addition to the normal rice beans lettuce and sour cream was a nice surprise. The margarita was nice and big, and they had Mexican Coke. My only complaint would be that the salsa did lack some heat, I usually like to have both hot and mild salsas at the table.

Had great meal here last night. The place was quiet but very clean and the food was very good. I had the Burrito Cancun. Very tasty and fresh made. We were a table of 5 and everyone enjoyed their meals. Fajitas were hot and flavorful without the usual saltiness. All food is fresh made. Margaritas were on special for $ 2.99. Large glass, not a pre-made mix. I would definitely return. Skip the chains and support a local business!

My husband and I had dinner here this past Sunday night. I was excited to try it, as I haven’t been since they changed ownership. I will say the décor and cleanliness are much nicer, and our server was very kind to us. That said, I am really sorry to say the food was entirely lacking. While my husband enjoyed his frozen mango margarita(a foursquare tip), and the red wine was decent — yeah. the food… The salsa they give you has very little flavor, and no heat at all. It reminded me of salsas I ate at numerous ‘Texmex’ or ‘Mexican’ restaurants in NYC. And on the table, there were the same heat/taste substitutes one would find up that way — you know — these guys: I did ask if they had a spicier salsa and they did. The waiter very kindly brought it for me and while it is also lacking flavor and is very thin, it has a spice that nicely builds and that I could enjoy. Reminded me of habanero but not sure. With a very extensive menu of everything from ‘specials’ to traditional combo plates, to seafood, pork, and fajitas, there is a lot on offer. We split a ‘special’ plate as it sounded(and was) huge: 1 tamale, 1 enchilada(ground beef), 1 beef taco, 1 chalupa, 1 chili relleno, rice and beans. My husband basically tasted everything before I did with an excited«Well this is!!» and then a quiet«…no» and finally«I’ll just let you taste for yourself.» Basically it felt that the flavors of everything were watered down to tasting like almost nothing. Even my much beloved refried beans were lacking their normal, charming, rich flavor. The enchilada was bland, the tamale was somehow ‘ok’, and as I read already about the taco from someone complaining on Tripadvisor that it was ‘only ground beef and lettuce’(well yeah so, that’s pretty typical?) it was extremely greasy — like grease running out every time you took a bite, which lended the only flavor this taco had. The chalupa, being a bean and cheese chalupa, didn’t fair much better than the refried beans. The chili relleno was the only thing that had any discernible flavor — but that was attributed to the sauce(It seemed very similar to the spicier sauce brought out for me) than the pepper or the cheese it was filled with. I’d also ordered sides of pico and guac — the pico seemed fresh but nothing to write home about, and the guac was very heavy on the lemon — probably as a preservative. I hate to give this place such a shabby review, as we were initially excited by the meal being only $ 12 and the waiter being friendly… but then, I guess when it comes to food, you get what you pay for… Or sometimes even then, not so much. PS: I point out I am from San Antonio, Texas… not Wisconsin
