This restaurant will open again this spring. The owner has another traveling job that he does during the non-tourist season in Manitou Springs. I’m always on the hunt for great BBQ, and so I consult Unilocal… a lot. When entering the Suzy Q’s, I was cheerfully greeted, and noted the light smell of hickory smoke. We ordered the burnt ends, the cowboy beans, pulled pork and cole slaw. While waiting, I saw this smoker built right in the kitchen, and knew we were in for a treat. Just after ordering, about 25 people came in, and were seated right away. The owner and his son were there, along with a young lady in the kitchen. The waitress was very experienced, and all hands were on deck getting orders, and drinks. Our order came soon, even tho the restaurant had just opened. It appears that he is there early and ready for the rush. A magnificent collection of whiskeys are available, and that is right up my alley. The food was absolutely incredible, and I declare this to be THE best barbecue in the Colorado Springs/Manitou Springs region! Can’t wait until spring.

I stopped in with my kids while at the Coffin Race in October. I had a pulled pork sandwich and my kids had a hotdog and fries. The food was AMAZING to say the very least. They have the best bbq in the area as far as I’m concerned. The hotdog and fries were really good too. I’ll be going back with no hesitation!

A made a stop here with a large group before a wedding. Everyone in my group seemed pleased with their selections. The beer selection was very diverse with a lot of local craft options. The wings were very tasty with a well prepared buffalo sauce. I ordered the 3 meat plate and was not disappointed with the pork, brisket, or links. The cowboy beans and corn bread were fantastic and I can’t wait to try all the other sides on my next visit!

After surviving the harrowing climb to the top of the Manitou Incline, we were tired and hungry from the long and icy descent. Suzy Q’s BBQ was just the cure we were looking for. Nestled in the quaint town of Manitou Springs, Suzy Q’s offers some delicious eats for cheap. Not knowing how large the portion sizes were, I probably over-ordered a bit. Our glutinous journey started off loaded fries. These were perfectly crispy fries topped with pulled pork, nacho cheese sauce, chopped jalapenos, and sweet heat drizzle. After quickly devouring the appetizer, we moved on to even more meat. Many chain BBQ places don’t offer this, but burnt ends are the best thing since sliced bread. These are the crispy, smokey ends of the beef brisket which are cubed and smothered in the house BBQ sauce and sandwiched between buns(all for only $ 5!). My girlfriend got the two meat plate(which is only $ 1 – 2 more than the one meat plate), which was piled high with slabs of tender, smokey, beef brisket, pulled pork, and two sides. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the pulled pork was. Usually, it’s either too salty or dried out(it was neither in this case). There are five BBQ sauces to choose from of which I loved the Memphis tangy the best. On top of the heavenly barbecued meats, Suzy Q’s also offers a large selection of whisk(e)y, bourbons, and scotches. The service is fantastic to round out the wonderful Southern hospitality. If you ever find yourself in town, Suzy Q’s BBQ is a must-try.

PLEASE forgive me for NOT writing this review sooner, because you have missed out on some terrific food! Yes, I feel as if I’ve let you down by not reviewing Suzy Q’s until now. I’ve been meaning to eat there for WEEKS and finally made the opportunity when my dearest friend in the world came for a visit from the planet Houston!(She also happens to be my cousin.) In fact, GOTHERERIGHTNOW and read this review after you return. You’ll definitely want to add your own glowing review! Have you heard of «burnt ends»? Burnt ends are the crisp, juicy ends of brisket after it is roasted and smoked to create a dizzying delight of pure meaty goodness. If you ever find them on a BBQ menu(and you usually don’t), GETTHEM… with no hesitation! Suzy Q serves the most delicious burnt ends, moist and tender, glistening in their pure goodness on a humble bun. Each bite was better than the last and accompanied by their delicious homemade jalapeño hush puppies, all you need is one(or more!) of their delicious sides to really lose yourself in a gastronomic heaven! I can hardly wait to try their other offerings, especially their special catfish tacos! But wait! Yes, there’s more. Make SURE to leave room for dessert. While most BBQ eateries do not shine in the dessert department, Suzy Q’s is most definitely the exception. You simply HAVETO order their peach cobbler(homemade, of course!) with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream! Being from the south, I have had many a peach cobbler and I can say truthfully that it was the BEST I’ve ever had. With a tender, flaky crust surrounding a scrumptious peach filling, topped with that cinnamon ice cream, gently melting into the pastry almost makes one dizzy(there’s that word again!) from the heady aroma. So, if you did NOT heed my advice in the first paragraph, walk away from your viewscreen NOW and go have some delicious food, served with love all the time. Oh yeah; there IS a real Suzy Q and she is just as delightful as her food. When you see her, tell her Ron sends his best and will be back… again and again and again…

Walking up the street and looking for a bar and grill or café and came upon Suzy Q’s. I had the Catfish Tacos. FANTASTIC. Hubby had Pulled Pork. FABULOUS. So glad that a twist of fate led us to this terrific little spot. If you’re hungry and want a home-cooked meal, look no further.

Oh wow! Upon tasting my links and brisket I got worried! I react this way to excellent finds if it’s a drive to get to it. If you’re a bit like me and worships meat– especially the bbq’d ones then if you’re in the area head over to Suzy’s. The links were spicy. The good kind of spicy! The kind that will make you re-think if you’re going to eat more or not. Oh you will! The brisket was oh my so good! Moist and very flavorful! It came with two sides. The wonderfully freshly cooked and salted French fries and the corn bread that’s moist and fluffy. The interior is homely and clean. Try the long communal table. I think that’s the best table in the house. Lots of two tops and four. Two rooms to accommodate their customers. They carry the following very well chosen liquid courage. Bourbon, scotch, rye and beers. Their BBQ sauces are excellent. I don’t like sauces but I’m a fan of a couple of their four sauces. The house original and the Memphis. Superior service with lots of smile and genuine care for the comfort and happiness of their customers. In my book they’re top notch! I will be back even though they don’t serve ribs.

I would come back here in a heart beat. Quick, hearty meals in the heart of Manitou Springs(a cute little town) near Colorado Springs. I got a brisket platter with baked beans and green beans side. It also came with some bread and iced cold water. Delicious!

Headed to Pikes Peak and had to stop! Reviews do not lie!!! Best hush puppies we have ever had! Not to mention the pulled pork and half rack of ribs. Baked beans are out this this world — they earned 5 stars and beyond! We will be back!

The food here is amazing. I love good BBQ and this place has it all. As soon as you walk in, there is a menu on a chalk board of all their specials. The ribs fall right off the bone! Top that with the beans and potatoe salad and you’re set.

Visited Manitou this past weekend and had to stop in to get some BBQ! I had the chopped brisket sandwich, which was delightful. The potato salad was okay, nothing too special but good nonetheless. They had a few good beers on tap, but I’d like to see some better local options. The only wheat beer they had was agave wheat. The sauces were pretty tasty too. I’d like a hot option that wasn’t super sweet though. Overall I’d love to come back.

DELICIOUS! This is the best BBQ we have had so far in Colorado! Burnt Ends Sandwich was fantastic, and loaded fries are a great side. We enjoyed the BBQ sauce varieties that they offered, the 4 sauces at our table all had a different spin– house original had a rich taste with a Worcestershire sauce tang. High Recommend.

My husband and I live in Manitou Springs and Suzy Q is the one place we visit the most when eating out. We are always greeted by the whole staff every time we walk in. They treat us like we are a part of their family and nothing less. Our most favorite item on the menu is the loaded fries and of course a good beer to go with it. Suzie makes all of the BBQ sauces homemade witch makes it even tastier. Whenever someone asks us where we recommend to eat in Manitou Springs the first thing we say is Suzy Q. Fabulous atmosphere and great people you just can’t go wrong!!!

Top notch BBQ(at least in my opinion). BBQ is a subjective science however the more I ate the more I fell in love with everything on my plate. The original BBQ is good and I recommend you start there. However slowly ween yourself onto the Sweet Heat BBQ as you make your way through your meal. So good! Also, arguably some of the best coleslaw that I have ever had. The beans are excellent as well!
