Old US31 Diner

Great little diner, traveling through Manistee and found this place by chance. Great food, big plate of homemade food, and very fair prices. Waitress was very nice and the owner even came out and shook our hands and thanked us for stoping.

In the mood for a later breakfast at the start of the m-​22 drive and glad we found this place on Unilocal.My girl and I each had the steak and eggs, which comes with hash browns and your choice of 5 – 6 kinds of toast or a biscuit. Go with the biscuit! Hash browns, eggs and biscuit were all delicious. Steak was just okay, would choose a breakfast meat next time. Service was super friendly and waitress was always around for water, coffee, etc (the way it should be but often is not). Would recommend this place if looking for a good breakfast, which is served all day. Their menu also includes your typical diner lunch fare.

Clean, quaint diner. Excellent breakfast (had ham & cheese omelet meal). Fair prices & easy walking distance from Morton Salt.

There was 4 in our party for lunch. The place was packed and we were able to find one open seat where 2 of our party had to share one side of a very small table. The tables have coffee cups pre-​set upside down ready for coffee… (more to come on this in a moment) Our ordes were taken fairly quick and we all ordered the fish and chips. IT TOOK 35 MINUTES TO ARIVE. During this time the party behind us received their food and were highly displeased. The cook came out to apologize and said he would comp their meals however, they immediately left. I also witnessed the busboy bus a table where he reused the unused coffee cups and while he wiped the table «clean» the wash rag he used came in contact with the cups; I’m not sure what was on the rag but the thought that crossed my mind was I wonder what lucky customer was going to get I’ll off that stunt. When our fish finally came it looked good and tasted mediocre. Some of out fish was over cooked and some of it was soaked in fryer oil as if the fryer oil wasn’t hot enough. Pretty sad when the star of your meal is the french fries. I would not come back and would try the Painted Lady next door.

We were so glad to find a diner open for breakfast in Manistee! Very friendly service and delicious breakfast! We will definitely be back!

Very good food. My favorite is the pot roast dip with mushrooms added on. On time I ordered a western omelette and the cook forgot to put ham in it. :(Overall, good food at a fair price
