Absolutely awful. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is the worst waxing place I have ever been to in my entire life. 1. Their policies are misleading. E.g., a bikini wax does not mean what it means everywhere else in the city/world. They will only do the bare minimum(not a bikini wax ATALL!) and then tell you that if you want a an actual bikini wax you will need to pay for a full Brazilian — this after you’ve already started the process and have no other choice. 2. Manager was EXTREMELY rude to me when I tried to explain that I was unhappy and basically said she doesn’t care if I’m not happy and to never come back again. I was completely stunned. 3. Ran out of wax rollers and had to do both full legs with a spatula which took way longer than it should have and left patches of hair anyway. For the price you are paying I do not expect this at all. They should ask you to come back later not start the process when they do not have the proper equipment. 4. Did not wear glows. 5. Double dipping is rife. It is surprising that such an awful place with such rude staff and mediocre service can still be open in this city and location. There are many other places in midtown that are much better than this. I suggest you go to anywhere else — not here.

Let me first start out by saying that I have never written a review before, but felt that I needed to after my experience earlier this weekend. I went in with two of my friends and we were rudely asked what we were there for. After we requested three mani/pedis, only one of us was helped as they called for more staff to come in. From there the service only got worse. Our nails were never soaked for the manicure, cuticles were not cut and two of us had to leave without getting our nails painted because of the constant switching of staff. However, we were still charged for a full manicure. Also, my friend had a cracked toenail which she requested they glue, which they charged her an additional $ 10.50 for without telling her upfront. Overall, we were very dissatisfied with the service and felt it was way overpriced compared to other nail salons in the area which charge $ 20 for a mani/pedi and offer a much higher quality of service. Do NOT go to Tres Bien as it is far from the translation Very Good.

I’m from out of town and in my experience that usually means a crappy manicure because they assume you’re not a repeat customer. I’ve had some seriously disappointing salon experiences in NYC. This place was an exception. They are open until 11:00 pm, which was so convenient. I walked in at 9:30 pm and there was no wait. The polish selection was almost overwhelming. My manicure was very good. The hand/arm massage was kind of a joke, lasting about 30 seconds on each side, but that’s okay for me because I’m more interested in the attention to my nails. The place was a bit pricey compared to other NYC salons I’ve visited, but still a little less than what I pay for a manicure at home. The mani with shellac polish was $ 40. I definitely recommend.

The place is tiny and cramped but that adds to the atmosphere of «we’re all in this together». It’s so small that while they work on your toes, you can actually reach around and order from Tal Bagel next door. One thing that sets them apart, actually, are the late hours. They are open til around 10 pm.

This is my go to nail salon. It is a little pricier than other places but my manicures always last longer. Tip: get the quick dry top coat — it’s worth the extra $ 1. Another huge plus is that they are open until 11pm every night. There is a huge selection of colors and they’re always one of the first to get the new Essie colors.

Ok, I am not a big fan of going out of my way to give a place a low review … but in this case, I had to. Also there are no other Unilocal reviews for this joint. First, normally for a small nail salon in NYC, you can normally get a mani/pedi for about $ 25-$ 30. This place was $ 45 for a mani/pedi combo(no spa special or anything like that — just the standard mani/pedi). Second, the woman doing my nails was very distracted and was the worst manicurist I have ever had. I asked her to push back my cuticles, she did not listen and cut them and moreover, she nipped me with the cutting tool and I although it did not bleed, anytime she put chemicals on my hands(astringent or polish) — it burned like hell. She kept looking at whoever walked into the store or what her fellow manicurists were doing. She concentrated on everything but my hands/feet. Third, there were little air bubbles throughout my manicure which made the manicure peel off in less than one week. So, for $ 45 dollars, i got a crappy mani/pedi, got injured and had to get a new manicure in less than one week. Bah!
