I had a really terrible experience at Rick’s Music Shop– involving Rick himself. I had dropped off a tele for some improvements on the action of the guitar, to lighten it’s strings and to fix a bum input jack.
When I went back, the Tele’s playability had been ruined. The new setup completely contradicted my requests as he put on heavy strings, and raised the action of the guitar. He couldn’t tell me why he did it, and said «I wouldn’t have done that unless you asked me to». DISAGREEING WITH ME. My guess was it was a result of poor organization of his repairs.
I asked him «where we went from here», as he wanted me to pay $ 50 for a downgrade in quality.
He refused to accept fault and made it clear that I wouldn’t be leaving the shop with my guitar until I paid. I was shocked by the treatment, paid and have never gone back since.

The best music store in the area. He has a wide selection of instruments and amps for both a beginner and someone who has played for awhile. The prices are only slightly above the big box online music stores but the extra money is negligible to the amount of service he gives.
Rick is extremely knowledgeable about repairs and setup and just a very warm, inviting guy. I went in twice two months apart and he remember who I was and what I played.
He has fixed 3 of my basses and and done countless setups. This guy is great, I highly recommend him.
