This company is a nightmare. We lose heat and hot water constantly. Our roof fell in this past summer. The owners have bad attitudes and won’t ever fix or compensate people for anything. Slumlords to the highest degree. Have never seen worse property management.

Up until a few months ago, I lived in one of these buildings. I couldn’t take it anymore and our household income increased, so we moved out. I will say that it was a very frustrating experience for the time I was there. Among other things, the company completely fails at communicating. We didn’t have a rat in our apartment, but we had them in the basement and by the trash. There were a TON of them too. We could actually hear them scurrying around at night outside our window. The entrance door was broken for a few months, leaving us all pretty vulnerable to all the crazy people outside. Random people would hang out on our stoop and even in the hallway sometimes. If you’re apartment shopping, be sure to avoid Perseus Management if you can help it. They also go by City Life Rentals. A good resource with more tenant complaints: . This company has a bad reputation for good reason. Listen to what Google tells you!

Having had similar issues to the tenant who posted as well: When we told Perseus Management that we had a sewer sized rat living in our apartment they questioned as to whether we knew the difference between a rat and a mouse. It was then explained to us that mice are a common occurrence and to get mouse traps and just live with it. We were also told that Washington Heights was a Latino area to expect that it comes with a certain amount of filth(They were implying that Hispanics are dirty people and half of our apartment is of Hispanic descent– WTF?). It wasn’t until the rat chewed its own tail off and we hand delivered the hair and the tail to them via plastic baggy that they took us seriously that we had a large rat living in our apartment. As well as having the problems of a security door that doesn’t shut, no hot water or heat and a virtual waterfall coming through the ceiling of our bathroom and the scary guy huffing paint in the stairwell; We have also have a problem with the actual front door lock to our apartment– it will either not lock at all leaving our apartment wide open or will lock you in– trapping everyone inside. We have begged and pleaded with them to replace the lock and we are continually ignored. We had a building inspector in our apartment and have also called 311 repeatedly. If you ever want to know what it’s like living in a 3RDWORLDCOUNTRY and be treated like a 2NDCLASSCITIZEN– then by all means– rent from Perseus Management
