I lived next door for two years and used this deli regularly. The staff eventually got to know me by sight and greeted when I came in or even just walking past, this is what I liked about living in the area, a little slice of community. There were people in my building who had packages left there, so that’s the kind of shop it is. Cab drivers congregate out the front drinking the strong coffee, they’re onto something, the unassuming drip brew packs a wallop! There is a sliding scale on beer prices… depending on who was working I would pay between $ 2 and $ 2.50 for a beer such as Anchor Steam. While some might find this annoying I thought it was amusing and idiosyncratic, something that 7⁄11 etc are so devoid of.

Same old standard convenience store. Would have been perfect(relatively) had I not heard some racist talk from on of those behind the counter. I don’t know if he was joking or not, but a little old white lady was telling him that he shouldn’t be talking like that.
