I created this Unilocal account specifically to share my experience with this business. I live in the neighborhood and I am grateful Nivelo Shoe Repair is here. I was sadden to read C C. had a negative experience. While I respect and appreciate C C. experience and concern to alert others, if C C. had not already done so, I suggest giving Nivelo the opportunity to make it up to them. Small businesses rely their reputation and will do most anything to make certain 100% customer satisfaction. Ladies shoes are more intricate, so I will make certain all know my experiences are with to men’s shoes and a laptop backpack. Today, in a world of cheaper to buy new than repair, you rather keep those leather shoes which have served you so well and have molded perfectly to your feet. Or that backpack’s weak spot which gave out but otherwise in respectful condition. Surpassing all expectation, the modest man and of few words, Jorge Nivelo, truly possesses consistency, integrity, craftsmanship. Consistency because the quality is like new each time; integrity because he delivers(literally) when he says he will; craftsmanship because I ask myself each time, ‘how did he do that?’

BEWARE! Do not go to this place! I brought in a couple of heels, one of which is a pair of open toed heels with a cloth upper. When I came back to pick them up, one of the shoes had shoe polish stains on the cloth as if someone picked the shoe up with very dirty hands. I pointed it out and I asked the guy if he could clean the cloth to remove the black muck. He said yes. I believe he used paint thinner just like the earlier reviewer mentioned. It had a potent smell and I watched the cloth totally discolor right before my eyes. So now I have one good shoe and one completely ruined shoe. I loved these shoes so I’m pretty upset. As for the other pair of heels, I asked for the insoles to be tacked down in the back of the shoe where they were peeling off. The guy suggested replacing the entire insole instead of just gluing down the back part that was lifting. When I picked them up, I noticed that the designer’s labels were sewn back into the new insoles which is fine, but they were sewn in the wrong way. Then when I wore them, there was some chemical used on the insoles that started to flake and peel away right under the top part of my foot to reveal a gray vinyl like material where there should have been black leather. This guy literally has no idea what he’s doing. I signed up for a Unilocal account just so that I could warn others to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else!
