Professional and high quality interpreters who adapt their expertise to meet the needs of individual clients are difficult to find. Many are used to one way or method of interpretation when the Deaf client may be more familiar with another (i.e., ASL vs SEE or PSE). Lydia is not only experienced in multiple forms of signed communication, but she also ensures that she has complete and full understanding of her clients needs and preferences. In fact, the biggest thing that I noticed about Lydia is her background and expertise in ASL. Given that it is her first language from growing up as an only hearing CODA and three deaf siblings, her ability to translate expert levels of ASL smoothly, both ASL to voiced English and English to ASL, is not only one of the most difficult jobs for any interpreter but also one that she does fluently and at a high level. Lydia is most likely one of the top 2 interpreters that I have met in my lifetime. Highly recommend as a professional interpreter in any setting and with any signing preference (ASL, SEE, etc).

Lydia is amazing. I can’t stress enough what a great translator she is! She is so caring and is so passionate at what she does it’s hard not to love her. Lydia helped translate at my wedding mass and reception. She was attentive to my brother who is deaf and made sure he could communicate with all of our family members. Working with her from booking to the actual day of translating was easy and amazing. I had to babysit all of my other vendors but Lyida was responsible and caring. She made our wedding day exceptional. All of my guests were amazed to see her skills. She inspired many of my family members to start learning sign language. Overall I highly recommend Lydia. She is a jewel. You will not regret working with her.

Lydia Callis is a truly amazing interpreter I have had when I was elected to be in the Food Network of ‘Chopped’ as contestant. I’m come from a Deaf family which use our native of American Sign Language. I’ve always have hard times with many interpreters who hardly understand my fluently of ASL. As in the chef competition with time limit at ‘Chopped’. Lydia was so magnificent as one to go along without any of barring of understand to translating and understand everything what I have been signed. She is one of top 5 interpreter in my life so far!!!

Lydia was hired by a university to interpret for my seven person play on transgender identity as part of a weekend long conference at which she was interpreting. She had only half an hour to read the script beforehand and you would think she had been rehearsing with us all month.
Every colleague I had in the audience commented on how spectacular she was. One even said that they felt they had really experienced true sign interpretation for the first time.
Lydia is nothing short of an artist. I cannot say enough good things about her and her work.
