I never got to see the original location, and when the boy told me this was on 38th I didn’t know what to expect. But the space is absolutely gorgeous. Three floors of red and black and skulls and light effects and burning frankincense just made me melt. I’d just come here to spend time, the art is a bonus, and it was an amazing bonus. I loved everything I got to see, and going on what I think was opening night meant I got to meet some of the people whose work was being showcased, along with their fans. They usually serve beer and wine, complimentary but do tip! Great crowd, great atmosphere. I came back for another show a couple of months after my first visit and really enjoyed everything I got to see.

This is not your typical gallery… Truly, it is not. It is work of art and creation on it’s own. As soon as you walk through the doors, you stop on your tracks seeing H. R Giger streamlined work right by the entrance. Sculptured staircase takes you to the mezzanine level, and colors, lighting and artwork create atmosphere you will not likely forget. It’s amazing to the point you get so lost in art, you forget time and space you begin in… Artists collections both upstairs and downstairs are inspirational, and selected by genius, I swear. Exhibitions change often, check it out! I am smitten.

I came here for their opening and was just amazed. Some excellent surreal art in a beautiful artistic location. I was fortunate enough to watch a group of artists come together and without any planning or communication draw together a scene. It was true«improv. art.» I’m not a tattoo person but the art alone is enticing enough.

The best dark contemporary art gallery around. Constantly showing amazing talent always fresh and pushing the edge of comfort zones making you think. This is one of my personal favorite destinations for art openings mixed with not only amazing art on the walls the crowd it attracts is living art as well as great music and places to sit. You can really make a night of it at any opening party taking in live painting and live music performances. A one of kind gallery experience everyone should visit once in their lives though once you go you’re often hooked and find yourself back to many many shows.

This place is freakin’ AWESOME! My friend is the director at the gallery and has been asking me for months to come and see the gallery because she felt that I would really love it and appreciate it. I was always pretty skeptical because well, it’s just not my scene. Instead of going in on a normal day, I went for the 5th anniversary show. Let me just tell you — I had an absolute blast! Not only because of all the amazing people that work there and the burlesque dancers that were hired for the night, but the amount of talented artists that were displaying their work that night were incredible. I would have instantly bought half of those paintings. The space itself is amazing in itself. Even if you don’t like art go for the ambiance. It is truly unique and I can’t wait to bring my mother there.

This place is both an art gallery and a tattoo studio, hence the two Unilocal listings. I went to it when it was in art gallery form, so I’ll review that. I’ve never been to a tattoo studio, and reviewing that entry would be misleading, which I hate to do. Except when it will benefit me. The opening was of Dark Pop 4: a brave move for my date, who suggested this as our first meeting spot. Since I have somewhat of a morbid sense of humour, this actually worked out well. The show was full of face-melting awesomeness. Serial killers crossing the Delaware, Pedo-bear dressed like Hugh Hefner being hugged by a child, a Dr Seuss/Seven(Brad Pitt movie) crossover… It blew my mind. The décor of the place is beyond amazing, as if it were kitted out by a Gothic interior designer who specialises in dungeons. I can’t believe they don’t have parties here. Maybe they do… In all, this opened my eyes to a totally different genre of art to which I’d never previously been exposed. High five, Last Rites and date girl: you made my weekend.
