Hudson River Cafe Pier 45

Wow this is one of a kind, strangely, not sure why there aren’t more cute bars along the water near the west village.
Live music, lots of tables in the shade or with umbrellas, beautiful view, low traffic noise… Awesome!

I REALLY wanted to like this place. I went here with a friend despite the reviews and I have to agree with others. It’s Meh, for sure. We just got one beer but it was warm (even from the tap) and the service was rude and unwelcoming. I love being able to sit outside near the water and have a drink but I’d rather find another place to do it.

You might think HRC is a great place to grab lunch and a beer while enjoying the views of the Hudson River and Hoboken.
You’d be wrong!
The bartender at this outdoor café will take your order and then give you one of those devices they give you at a chain restaurant that signals when your table is ready, except this signals that your food is ready. You’re then to go pick it up near the grill that is not on. The food is pre cooked and sorta reheated when ordered. The beers are $ 8.00 each. Here’s the kicker, the bartender tells you how much the tab is but will not show you the bill until you pay it. Head scratcher, I know.
This place is mismanaged on every level. It MUST be run by the city. It would be a gold mine if run properly.
Do yourself a favor and bring food from somewhere else, or brown bag it. Take it to the end of the pier. You’ll be glad you did.

Lovely café with live music, good people watching and river view. I like to meet my friends here to chill out with a beer & fries pre dinner.

I feel like I just threw away $ 25! Ordered a cheeseburger medium with no onions and a draft beer … Waited 45 minutes for a hockey buck with a slice of unmelted cheese and covered in onions! Beer was half foam … staff is inept … sorry guys but never again!

Pure disappointment. I was there 8÷10÷14 on a Sunday 2ish. We were not in a hurry. Just enjoying a lazy afternoon. We sat there 30+ minutes and still no food. When we asked, the waiter came back saying the cook gave our order away. AWAY? Made no sense. The waiter said he’ll rush the orders ahead of everyone else so we stayed. Another 15 minutes pass and than the food came. That’s their version of «rushed», sigh… Now, was the food good? I wouldn’t know because I was starved. At that moment anything tasted great. The fries I noticed was really greasy which means the oil was not hot enough to flash fry quickly which prevents fried foods from looking greasy. Management needs to hire more wait staff. 20 tables and there’s only 2 waiters? Garbage on the tables long period of time. I didn’t see how many cooks but I wouldn’t be surprised if 1 – 2 cooks since the food took so long to come out for everyone. They had a band come out 3pm. A lady smoked at the next table and no one said anything! If you’re in a hurry than you’ll be wise to eat elsewhere. There was no sense of urgency and for the inconvenience they caused us there was no compensation like a free drink or dessert. Better to walk/​bike it uptown to the Flying Pan.

Amazing view. Food and beverage here is pretty basic but a good place to go if you want to listen to some live music and sit outside.

My boyfriend and I stopped here while walking around near the water searching for a place to eat. We noticed they served beer so decided to stop for brunch. After we sat down we were told that the credit card machine wasn’t working and we had to pay in Cash. It was fine since we had Cash but limited the amount we could order. After we ordered the food was cold and it didn’t taste very good. The beer was also warm. It has a nice view but wouldn’t pay to eat here again.

Beautiful view. Nice spot to chat it up with friends sipping a beer or a glass of wine. The food was decent. At the time we went the credit card machine was broken so that was a bit annoying, but what can you do. I really did enjoy the view and the area so I wouldn’t mind coming back to enjoy the nice weather and a corona… with lime. ;)

Excessively greasy fish and chips gave me a stomach since 1:00 pm. Last time i go, regrettable because the view is killer.

The view is great and location were great. The waiter was really nice but don’t make the mistake of ordering from the bartender. He responded like I was an idiot for ordering from him. He took my order but made sure to let me know there were servers around. The food was a definite zero star. I only added 2 stars for the view and nice waiter.

The food here is disgusting. Don’t bother. However, the beer, ice cream and view is great. Just don’t eat. Have fun.

Very cool bar right on the water. It’s right on pier 45. Probably a seasonal place but very cool place at sunset for a beer or glass of wine.

Great spot for water after a long run. Guy from Ireland was very sweet and helpful. Gave us cups of ice without asking because the waters weren’t cold yet. Not what we are used to in NYC. :-) beautiful scenery and just love Hudson Park in general. Will be back :-)
