This store opened about the time my son was in one of his video game obsessions so I thought I’d surprise him after a few good weeks at school. I like to shop local business owners whenever possible but I wont be back. My son was so excited to get a game that wasn’t in stock so I had the guy order one and then paid. Once it was picked up, I had to deal with one upset 8 year old because it wouldn’t work on his system. My husband flipped it over and it was a recordable disc… a FAKE. I’m confident with my assumption that the owner knew that from the start because he made up some excuse as to why the case on the game wasn’t the same case it showed online as the cover photo. While I didn’t know that was a red flag of a pirated game… the owner of the store that talked smack about gamestop whenever he got the chance because he had worked there for many years SHOULD have known. While I don’t think the owner is the one that made the fake, I think that he just got on ebay and ordered the cheapest one he could find. I could have done that myself! I’m sorry that I have to stop supporting a local business but if he wants to compete with the big box stores and Gamestop… he should have the same standards as them so he can have the same quality. Another time, I had to go back because they were the only place that had a certain vintage system and it was a gift. It was in the evening about 20 minutes before closing. The goths, Harry Potter twins and many other misfits had already arrived for one of their tournaments and I walked in and I really saw eyes roll by the other owner or manager. It was like I was disturbing them for walking into their business when they were OPEN to purchase something. I think that they are too focused on being a hangout for their Magic the Gathering posse than helping their customers that came to shop for anything else. That is fine if that’s what they want to do but you might as well call yourself«Magic Hounds»

I showed up tonight for a Magic the Gathering Draft Tournament. I arrived 45 minutes early to get some information as I haven’t played since 2005. They employee seemed rather friendly as he explained the process to me. I Paid the entry fee and then waited until the draft started at 630. After everyone had their cards and decks were built, the employees posted the game match ups. Despite the fact I was the first one to sign up for the evening, I was the only person to NOT have an opponent. It simply said Bye Jonathan. The employees ignored me completely when I tried to find out if I would be playing after the first round or if they were telling me to pound sand. As they completely ignored me I can only assume those spineless douche nozzles were too afraid to explain why I wasn’t on the roster. I’ll never go there again, and unless you like getting ripped off I suggest you avoid it as well.

Clean place, friendly staff, the shop is sort of small, but they have really neat stuff. Our whole family come here and it’s a decent and reasonable shop in a decent area. Haven’t had 1 problem yet. Great place.

Game Hounds Video Games & Gifts is a small business. It is not an extension of a large chain, like GameStop; however, several of the employees here came from GameStop and are thus well acquainted with the other stores out there. Game Hounds features competitive prices for new and used games, systems, movies, toys and miniatures, etc. The store accepts trade-ins on used games and systems. Only the newest titles may be redeemed for cash; however, Game Hounds offers store credit for most everything. Game Hounds is run by a really nice cast of people; Rusty, the owner, is very friendly, as is the rest of the staff. And you can tell that he treats both his customers and his employees as people, which is a refreshing perspective, especially compared to the other game store options, such as GameStop. Neither do the employees crowd their customers nor do they ignore them. The store has a very personal feel, allowing customers to wander in and have a conversation with the knowledgeable staff. Occasionally the owner will bring in his two hounds, the namesakes for the store, who lounge behind the counter. Although the store has a bit of a cluttered look, it is easy to find what you are looking for, and the friendly staff is eager to give customers the attention they need. Game Hounds has a Facebook page that features updates on new products, sales, events, contests and tournaments. If you ask a direct question on the page, it will receive a prompt and direct response. The online customer service even extends to online orders. Game Hounds will accept payments made through PayPal and ship merchandise directly. Game Hounds Video Games & Gifts offers great customer service, including discounts for students and military. The store is reminiscent of GameStop in layout and design, but the merchandise and service go well beyond what you would expect in a store from the GameStop chain. Stop in or visit Game Hounds’ FaceBook page for a better experience for the purchase of video games, systems, miniatures, roleplaying games and more.
