Sugaring LA

I started coming here two years ago, March of 2014. I needed an alternative to wax because my skin is very sensitive. I turned to Groupon to find an alternative so I could try it out. During this time they a special on Groupon and I booked an appt. I ended up getting an appt with Jennifer. She is amazing. The experiences was relaxing. Jennifer was very welcoming and explained what sugaring was, the differences and benefits vs traditional waxing and the process. Her application is very firm and quick and she is thorough. I have been booking my appts with here ever since. I highly recommend Sugaring LA to anyone who wants an natural, less painful alternative to waxing.
You do have to undress in front of them. So it may be uncomfortable to some into you become comfortable with your esthetician.
Parking can be a pain but it is to be directed given the location.

I’ve been a client here since Feb 2015. Jen is fantastic! She does a fast and thorough job! The hair regrowth has been much slower since I starting coming here, so I can space out the appointments (and save $). Parking is challenging, but it’s Manhattan Beach, so it’s to be expected.

This place is amazing! All the girls who work here are super sweet and are so good at what they do!

DOES YOUR HAIR GROW IN THICK + GIVE YOU INGROWNS AFTER YOUR WAX?
It has happened to me after every wax I’ve ever had (even though I exfoliate and moisturize) until I tried sugaring. My appointment was quick, which didn’t make me super hopeful, but my skin was so soft and my hair grew in so soft and evenly after sugaring, so now I am basically hooked. The salon is so cute and all of the girls have been very cool and consistent. I love that I can book online and usually find an appt at one of the locations at the last minute. If you have sensitive skin like me, it’s worth a shot.

I love this little place. I have had two different estheticians work on me and they are wonderful. This is a small building so they service one client at a time. The privacy is nice. They even put coconut oil on you when you’re finished which keeps your skin soft. I love the location. The building is pretty with feminine touches. Definite recconend. Plus they book by texting! How convienent is that?

I got sugared by Kristen and I must say it was the most pleasant hair removal service I’ve received. She was very warm and friendly. She made sure to educate me on sugaring before beginning and she also explained what she was doing as she did it. There were no breakouts or bumps and that was a huge plus for me. I will definitely be going back!!!

First time sugaring after years of waxing. I went with an open mind but after two long hours I wish I would have gone to my regular waxer.
The process was slow and would say more painful than wax. I would not mind the extra pain if it took around the same time as a good wax and as for the results…
Pros: less damage to the skin, less ingrown hairs, the girl that I had was super nice.
Cons: slow process, missed spots.
Might try it out again on another place to see if they always miss spots and take this long for a good clean look.

Updating my review, after over 1 full month of broken out skin because of the folliculitis with not being able to have it exposed to the sun as it would cause permanent scaring and also 1 month of antibiotics. I am now healed… I have since gone to another wax salon and have had no reaction at all.
I have been told my multiple wax salon owners that this can happen if they are using the same ball of sugar on wax more areas than one and sometimes even more people than yourself.
Yuck.
Anyways the owner never did contact me but I’m happy to be healed and I only hope nobody else goes through this.

Great spot for sugaring in Manhattan Beach and surrounding areas. Highly recommend Jill and Jennifer, both make you feel extremely comfortable and do a great job. The space is very clean and cute! Parking available, although not for large automobiles.

I’ve only been sugaring for about two months now, but my results are much better than when I was waxing (been waxing for two years). I have been able to book appointments with Jill and Kristen and I am very satisfied with both ladies. Sugaring has thinned out my hair significantly and it is a fast process. Thank you Sugaring LA! You all are great.

Amazing experience with Jill at the Manhattan Beach location! She is just so sweet! I look forward to going back again! Cute location with parking deck across the street! :) The only thing I would ask them to add is a fan to cool me down during the session so I won’t sweat as much.

The sugaring here is good but the person who sugared me made me uncomfortable. Maybe I’m accustomed to another place but she didn’t leave for me to get undressed and her mannerism was very dry and cold. The actual work is very good and thorough but I won’t return.

No question — best place ever! Forget wax — this is the real deal. Kristen (at the MB location) is my fav. She is quick and thorough.
Never going back to waxing again.

First time waxer and decided to try sugaring because I heard it was less painful. Jennifer popped my sugar wax cherry and I couldn’t have been happier. There was minimal pain (thinking it would be worse) but very tolerable. Place was clean as well.
Purchased a groupon deal. Was able to make an appointment the day before. I was the only customer when I walked in and out of the place so i was in and out within 20 minutes.
I’m a changed woman. Will only sugar wax from now on. I feel so free and clean. My significant other enjoys it as well :)

Amazing!!! Kaylyn is a sweetheart. She greeted me with a smile and made me feel so comfortable. I rcvd a Brazilian and Kaylyn made sure nothing was left! She has a permanent client!

I absolutely love this place. The women who work here are so friendly and professional they have really helped make what is normally an awkward situation pleasant. I’m not going to lie and say it doesn’t sting a bit when getting the hair removed but if you go periodically it gets better over time. This is by far the best salon I have ever gone to!

Love love love sugaring la! Staff is awesome and very knowledgeable. I’ve been sugaring now for about 6 months and they have have always been able to accommodate my crazy schedule!
Parking can be a bit tricky around lunch or early evening so as long as I plan for that it’s perfect!!!

After being to the location in Santa Monica I’ve grown to love Sugaring LA. They other all feel of he business is wonderful. Each location is well maintained, clean and the staff is both friendly and professional.
When I saw a Groupon for this location I jumped at the chance. The price was great however I feel that the location is Santa Monica does a much better job. I had the full Brazilian done, underarms and full legs. The sugarist used the same sugar ball for everything. Kind of disgusting.
Maia in Santa Monica also did a more through job. She went over me with tweezers and made sure that all the hair had been removed. Even though I didn’t have as much done in Santa Monica, Maia still used a different ball of sugar for each leg. I might be willing to give this location another try, but as of right now I’m kind of let down.

All I can say is WOW!
I was a European Wax supporter until today. I heard of sugaring through word of mouth from friends and just other acquaintances. So I finally scheduled myself in and viola… i am all sugaring hooked. It really cleans up well, no wax residue like the regular waxing and no strays left behind like the hard wax… all I can say is that you have to try it! My esthetician was Jennifer and she was very professional, quick and gentle. Of course, waxing will never ever be pain free, but it sure as hell beats all of them out there. They use 100% organic coconut oil after the treatment which was a plus if you plan to hit the town right after. Just trust this process and you will not be disappointed.

Sugaring is GREAT for your skin. I highly recommend it… however… IT HURTS A LOT A LOT. Just be prepared especially if your hairs are long. When your hair is longer, the sugar will pull it more causing it to hurt a lot. Honestly the pulling for me hurt me more than the yanking the hair out part. Just make sure you return before the hair gets too long, and once you get used to it, Sugaring is really great.
With that said, I unfortunately cannot afford to get sugared all the time. I came in here with a Groupon and they treated me great. The person helping me out, I didn’t catch her name, was a retired nurse so she also gave me great advice about caring for my skin. I’m actually really happy that she was a nurse because I was concerned about my skin and was dreading a visit to the doctor for something so little.
I really like the establishment, it’s clean and also very cute. The staff also knows what they’re doing. Sugaring will have to wait til I make the big bucks, but I definitely recommend this place. They also sell a variety of products including sea sponge tampons! I thought that was really interesting!
