Looking for a last nice dinner before the new year. Tried this restaurant based on Unilocal reviews and was not disappointed. I did not realize before going here that it is in a hotel. The hotel offers free valet parking for restaurant guests(I cannot remember if it is for hotel guests as well). There were not a lot of people in the restaurant so I feel that we were given extra special attention(I’m sure this is how it is all the time). We both ordered steak that was on special. Cooked perfectly and was exactly what we were looking for. I would dine here again or even come back for happy hour.

They are good for happy hours. Usually very quiet during lunch. Parking — yes Food — 3⁄5 Service — 3⁄5 Free wine with Unilocal check-in! A mile from the beach. No ocean view. Chicken Pappardelle was a no bueno for me. Hummus, tartare Appetizers were good.

My friend and I were looking for a place with nice ambiance that was in the area, and looked for places on Unilocal. We were happy to find Second Story Restaurant, as it was exactly what we were looking for. The restaurant is located inside a hotel, and you have to valet park your car, but the valet is free of charge. I ordered the herb roasted Mary’s Chicken, which consisted of potatoes, roasted garlic, and sautéed spinach. The food was delicious, and I seriously inhaled my plate! The chicken was tender, juicy, and filled with flavor. The garlic, the potatoes and the spinach went perfectly with the chicken. I let my friend try a bite of the potatoes, and she loved it. Actually, we both loved the potatoes so much, that we ended up ordering an extra side of potatoes, with the sauce from this chicken dish for dipping. My friend ordered the mac and cheese, and she loved her dish. Good times!

A friend and I were in the area and looking for a decent happy hour, I believe I’ve had this place bookmarked so in we went! Such a fun, tucked away entry from the hustle of Sepulveda Blvd., and free valet… Sweet! Stylish entry, lots of lit angles. Up the stairs and into a decent sized lounge/bar area, it seemed a little dated(could definitely use some new TV’s!) yet it was well laid out and tidy. They have a free glass of wine with a check-in and purchase of one entré, beer is fun priced, and they have quite a happy hour menu. We had just made a quick stop so I ordered the Nacho«fries», I’m going back just for these! Don’t be stuck in traffic if you are traveling PCH through El Segundo/Manhattan Beach during rush hour, pull a NASCAR and take a pit stop to the Second Story!

This restaurant is located on the Second Floor of the Hotel. The valet parking is free, which is pretty awesome! I came here at 6PM and it was happy hour. I got the meatball sliders as well as the fish tacos. Fish Tacos were bomb! Meatball sliders were good too. Makes me want to make them myself because it looks so simple, but yet, tasty. Service was good. Pretty quite during the time I came. I recommend giving this place a shot.

Happy Hour in the hotel bar!!! I’m a little confuzzled by the reviews complaining about it being a hotel bar. It’s a bar… IN A HOTEL! What exactly were you expecting? A parade of no less than sixty-four elephants followed by dessert tray wielding merwomen and mermen?* Well, too bad, because they don’t have that here. It’s not magic land! *That would be totally awesome, B T dubs. I got the sign up sheet right here if you’re interested in performing this role at my next holiday party. Love you! KZTHX Bai

The Second Story restaurant is located inside the Belamar Hotel. You can find street parking in the neighborhood so no need to valet. What I loved about the restaurant was the quiet and personal privacy you had while dining here. If you’re only about the hype, you may not enjoy it. You don’t have to expect a long wait or loud throng of people which was great for a Saturday night. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and meal. The server was so sweet and attentive, maybe because we were the only few in there but still it was great. I tried the special for the night which was Halibut and risotto and used the Unilocal check-in offer for some house wine. :) They have a great selection of seafood and meats on their menu. The Second Story will be a new favorite fine dining spot in Manhattan Beach when I don’t want to wait long to eat but want a fine dining food experience.

I had been here a couple times for happy hour and it was pretty good. So I decided to contact them for a wedding rehearsal dinner since our wedding venue was down the street. We contacted the restaurant and booked the restaurant for 7pm and gave them all our food choices a week in advance so that their kitchen would be prepared. We arrived at the location and they had set up a room for us but it was set up at a huge conference room table(imagine two restaurant tables put together so the person across from you is not in reaching distance) with bright lights on in the room and no music. It was literally like you were about to have a business meeting not a rehearsal dinner. The dinner was not ready so we ordered a bunch of appetizers to kill some time. We then asked for a waitress to take drink orders. They had one waitress for 26 people. The waitress was very nice, but there was no way she was able to serve 26 people on her own. Appetizers came out but were very hard to share as you could not pass it across the table unless you stood up and both people leaned over to make the pass. We finished appetizers and food was still not out. This was at around 8:30 pm an hour and half after we had arrived. So we ordered some more appetizers to try to kill more time. Food still did not come out so we had to complain some more and finally at around 9 the food came out. Do not book large parties/events at this place. They do not know how to set up for a nice dinner and will not be prepared or staffed for the occasion.

Food was above average. Only one waiter and one bartender for the entire restaurant made the service incredibly slow. You would think for a Friday night there would be more employees. Pros: valet parking is free for diners 2) decent food and average prices. Cons: it was pretty loud when trying to eat bc the bar is directly adjacent to the dining area 2) super slow service

I got tricked by Unilocalers with different standards again. I had bookmarked Second Story to try for happy hour for a while, and finally got to go yesterday. The place was completely empty for happy hour on Friday. There was literally 2 other people there when my party arrived. Beer, wine, and well drinks are cheap, but the hh food menu was limited. The quality and taste of the food were lackluster as well. Fish tacos were not particularly tasty, and at $ 8 for two, the pricing was not particularly generous. Brazilian cut top sirloin($ 12) was pretty much three pieces of meat with brown gravy and fries. I asked if the boneless buffalo chicken was vegetarian because the chicken broke into two pieces when I poked a fork into it. Overall, it’s just a boring hotel bar and restaurant, not a particularly nice hotel bar like Zinc. Food, drink, and ambiance are no different than if you went to a Marriott. Better to stick with the chain establishments down Rosecrans for happy hour.

If you’re a foodie don’t let the stars on Unilocal fool you. This is «good» hotel food at best. We’ve had better at Hilton Garden Inns. There’s too much to try in the area to spend this kind of money for average. Incredibly slow service(I feel bad saying it since our server was soo nice). I’m pretty sure most stuff wasn’t scratch made and the breaded calamari was frozen.

Ever find a restaurant where you can’t help but say, «Yes! I found a new favorite place to eat!»? This is that place. The Second Story restaurant in the Belamar hotel was on my list of «must try» places, but I always seemed to forget about it… wow am I glad I didn’t forget this time! The Roomy, well appointed and comfortable dining room is basically an extension of the bar… the happy hour menu is full of fantastic options and all of them are available in the dining room! We had the fondue, it’s served with apples, strawberries and bread, very tasty. He had the spicy boneless chicken wings, served with homemade blue cheese dressing… he said they weren’t spicy, but we thought they were quite spicy and delicious… any more spice would frankly push these into the not fantastic category, but these were terrific. Cocktails were delist, upon Unilocal check in you can take advantage of a free glass of wine, I opted to save it for another time. Genka, our server was attentive and helpful and knows every detail of the menu. He opted for the wedge salad and the cold spring rolls… he enjoyed every bite. She had the fish tacos… and gobbled them up. I had the roasted salmon over grilled asparagus and Humboldt Fog, which anyone who knows me knows I would never pass on a dish that contains the Fog, it’s my favorite! And the dish by the way was absolutely perfect. We finished the meal by sharing a freshly made banana stuffed crêpe with Nutella and berries and a fantastic glass of Tawney Port… both were tasty almost to the point of ordering another, but we were just too darn full. Complimentary valet parking. No crowds. Wonderful service and absolutely fantastic food. For sure we’re keeping this spot on or «regular» list of restaurants. Can’t wait for next time!

We were looking for a new happy hour place to hang out, with good food & drinks, and came across this place on Unilocal. The reviews looked decent, so we gave it a try! The restaurant is located on the second story of the hotel… thus the name, Second Story Restaurant! My first impression when walking in is that it’s very comfy and cozy. It seemed like a classy place with style. The customers also seemed as such. The restaurant is pretty spacious and it never got completely crowded. They have a good happy hour from 4−7pm. The food was great! I got the picanha with fries and the cheese fondue. I also got a glass of wine(or two :) and that was also very reasonable during happy hour. The overall service was friendly and attentive. The only drawback to this place is the lack of parking. I believe you can valet your car, however I parked on the street near the residential area and walked to the restaurant, which wasn’t too far. Overall, a great happy hour and I would definitely come back!

Parking: Valet Only at the hotel but there is street parking. It says no hotel parking but we parked where it didn’t specify that. A cozy place to be for happy hour. Great place to entertain large groups since it doesn’t get terribly crowded and there are ample seating. They have a partition /room in the back with couches so big parties(20+) can sit and chill. The happy hour menu was upgraded and kind of lacking. Before they had burgers and fries, now they have sliders and greens. I tried the fish tacos(2) which wasn’t too bad. The batter they used didn’t give it that crunch it needed. My coworker got the spicy chicken which was quite disappointing. It looked like cut up chicken nuggets dipped in hot sauce. The banana bread pudding was apparently really good. The Brazilian steak isn’t the big steak with rice that is in the Unilocal pictures. It is rather small and comes with shoe string fries. My coworker described it as flavorful. The servers were very accommodating and friendly. Wasn’t impressed with the happy hour food/selection but when you are with good company, it doesn’t really matter. Though I have to admit their regular food looks pretty good but I can’t say much about it if I hadn’t tried it.

My husband was looking for a restaurant near LAX to take guests from Japan. We found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. Only thing we knew before coming here was that they are located inside Belamar hotel. I have never heard about Belamar hotel but thinking it would be something like Montage or London hotel, so when we got there I was little shocked that it wasn’t like that at all. When we got to the restaurant, there was nobody to welcome you and you kinda have to seat yourself, at that point, my husband and I started to regret that we even picked this restaurant. However!!! Once we sat down and ordered food, we were pleasantly surprised. They were pretty delicious. Between four of us, we shared spinach salad, boneless chicken wings, calamari, ahi tuna sandwich, Brazilian cut sirloin, and grilled filet mignon with lobster tail. Our server was nice and attentive although she was busy covering most of the tables. This place sure is a hidden gem!!!

The Second Story Restaurant is located between the first and second floors of the Belamar Restaurant. The restaurant wasn’t that busy, but there were about 1 – 2 waiters when we went there on Saturday night. The view wasn’t great. I mean, we sat next to a window, which was right next to the emergency exit. We ordered the crab cakes($ 13) and the seafood bouillabaise($ 29). It took a while for the food to appear, since there was a large party, but our waiter took really good care of us. We started with some slices of bread with two dipping sauces, one was olive oil with herbs and the second was olive tahini. We were also given a dish of freshly-made potato chips. The crab cakes were good, nothing to call home about. The seafood bouillabaise comes in a heavy cast-iron dish, and comes with a side of garlic bread with lots of garlic. The seafood bouillabaise was definitely very tasty. The sauce that comes with is a good dipping sauce for the garlic bread. The lobster, fish, shrimp, squid, and mussels were all prepared well. We also had a free glass of wine with a Unilocal checkin. Thanks Unilocal! Thanks Second Story! Overall the food is very good, the experience was average but our waiter helped make it a better experience.

Came here for Happy Hour on a Monday afternoon. It was completely empty! It’s a nice modern restaurant in a hotel with free valet! I ordered the Picanha, it was good. It had a slightly sweet sauce to it. I also shared the Bread budding in which I pleasantly enjoyed. Definitely want to try the other happy hour dishes next time I come here!

First time coming here for a happy hour. It is located inside the Belamar Hotel on the second floor(hence their name). Great happy hour prices on beer and house wines. AND excellent prices on select menu items. I had my tab opened and I ordered the following to share with my friends: –glass of Riesling(not part of HH) –glass of house«white» –Fish and Chips –Cesar Salad My bill was $ 26. I LOVED the Riesling. The fish was a little greasy but light in texture but I LOVED the matchstick fries(my nemesis). I thought the Cesar Salad lacked some serious garlic and anchovies but hey… that’s just my preferred taste. I had a bite of my friend’s fondue which I thought was amazing! The idea of boneless chicken wings is so strange but I really enjoyed them and it was spicy good. Overall I really enjoyed myself here. This place is pretty chill so it’s a great place to chit chat with friends on a quiet evening. PS: FREE valet.
