Rude servers. Stopped us at the front door while we were waiting for our group and wouldn’t let my child use the restroom without assuring them we were going to eat? Way to welcome us in! We will not be coming back — ever.

Very overpriced and the wait staff seems to be surly. No imagination with the menu and each time we have been here, some mistake, whether an incorrect order or having to send something back for more or less cooking time, has occurred. We have finally given up!

Delicious. Perfectly grilled steak, seasoned vegetables and those cheesy mashed potatoes!!! Outstanding friendly service, great wine selection and the dessert menu– reminds you of moms homemade pies, etc. Found a great place for a perfectly grilled steak in MB. Menu is seafood and steaks with a few chicken options. The salad and soup selections are vast as well as the desert menu. Full bar and friendly fast service with a smile??? Over the moon happy.

Could not pick a better place to take my wife on our anniversary. Rib eye was out of this world. New restaurants are the hype. This place has been here for 20 years. 10 of 10 in my book.

So my friend raved about this place to me before, so we finally decided to try it. We came here yesterday for a late dinner, so we arrived and it was somewhat empty which was good. We walked in requested a table and were seated immediately. I have to say nice restaurant and cozy setting too. So the waiter came over and we ordered tiger prawns, wedge salad, and a tortilla soup for appetizers. The tiger prawns were good the sauce made them better, his wedge salad was good he wasn’t fond of the tomato. As for my tortilla soup I liked it it had a little spice to it but not too overbearing it could of used a little more shredded chicken though. Next was the main course which we split it was a sirloin steak(small portion) accompanied with a sun dried tomato risotto which we paired with additional sides of shucked corn and bacon cheddar mash potatoes. It was good but it could of been better if he hadn’t ordered the steak medium rare! I’m not a fan of eating rare meat it’s like trying to chew and cut a piece of rubber. The shucked corn was not spectacular to him it was I guess we have different expectations. All in all good meal but pricey I would come back here a few times to try other plates that’s it move on eventhough their portions are small and the prices are a little high. Other Unilocalers have complained about a split plate fee $$ we either got lucky we didn’t get charged or maybe it was waived because of our $ 106.82 bill, or they might of removed it completely. Valet charges of course so if you don’t mind the walk I think there is a parking structure behind the kettle, although it seems parking is a pain around here when it gets busy so you might end up using a valet or parking far away and walking.

We dined at Fonz’s last night and had a wonderful experience. Service was excellent and the food was fantastic. We started with an ahi tuna and avocado appetizer which was so fresh and tasty I think it may have been caught just before we arrived. For dinner I had the meat loaf, which was a huge portion, and the best meat loaf that I ever had. My wife had the sea bass, which was cooked to perfection. We brought a bottle of wine, and they didn’t charge us a corkage fee. I am impressed with Fonz’s and is now one of my favorites. We will be definitely be back!

Always nice to hit a place where my carnivore cousin can enjoy her meal and I have a vegan selection I can ask for without having to tweak. Nice wine selection.

Never heard of this place! Glad that a local highly recommend them. Great location and ambience, staff was OUTSTANDING! A special thanks goes out to Barbie. Looks like a great happy hour menu too. Had the Seafood Risotto, A MUST! However, the Pumpkin Cheesecake was pretty impressive!

Fonz’s is a hidden gem located in the heart of busy Manhattan Beach pier area. There are tables inside and out on the Main Street. The wait staff is extremely friendly and efficient. The food is delicious, the portions are huge and I believe they only charge $ 5.00 to share. They even divide the dish for you! Fonz’s also offer one of the best happy hour in the South Bay! Served 5:30 — 7:00&8:30-Close, Sunday through Thursday. They also offer ½ Price Wine Bottles on Tuesday(on selected wines only) Menu is well rounded and food is nicely prepared. It is billed as a steak house but the seafood is outstanding here such as grilled Halibut or seared ahi tuna plus the meatloaf is topnotch and must try at-least once :-) Most of the waiters have been at this restaurant for a decade! They love what they do and who they work for and it shows. I highly recommend this place for dinner as well as just hanging out at the bar for drinks.

Pretty darn good! Great ribeye steak, great service, good bar and bartender(forgot name, but attentive and great personality), cozy, but not too crowded. This is California beach dining at an upscale restaurant without pretension. I would say California cool… Enjoy!

The food here is delicious, but the service here this evening was awful(which is why it gets two stars instead of one). We came here at 5pm on a Saturday evening and the restaurant was empty. Bullet points will suffice in this situation: — Waited almost 10 minutes, in an empty restaurant, for our waitress to come for our drink order –Did not receive menus, even after the waitress brought our drinks –Ordered an appetizer while we looked over the menu– waitress did not return until AFTER we finished the appetizer– not to check in, not to take our meal order –Waitress did not inform us about kids’ meal options until we were going to order(after looking at the menu for 20 minutes) –Waitress offered my mom a refill on diet coke and never refilled the drink — Waitress dropped the bill and literally never came back– after 15 more minutes, a different server took our payment *Reminder– this was in a nearly empty restaurant!!! While the food was good, the service was a total distraction and disappointment!

Absolutely terrible. One of the worst dining experiences of my life. I would not wish this place on my worst enemy. Where do I begin? First of all we had reservations, but they still made us wait 20 minutes for a table. Fine. Then it takes her like 15 minutes to ask what we want to drink, then the drinks take 20 minutes to come out, and it’s another 25 minutes before she asks us about salads/starters. So we’ve been at the restaurant about an hour now, starving. I got the warm goat cheese salad, which was the only good part about the meal, it is a delicious salad. However, she asked if my husband and I were sharing the salad, I said yes because I figured she was just asking to see if he needed a salad. No, she did this so she could charge us a $ 7 split plate fee on a salad that’s only like $ 10 to begin with, and the portions that came out were tiny. If I new we were basically paying for two salads, we’d just order two. Anyway, on to the disgusting entrees. I got the grilled swordfish, which is supposed to be marinated in Teryiaki sauce and served with coconut rice, it was like eating pure sugar. Seriously tasted like eating raw white sugar. So gross I couldn’t eat more than two bites. Everyone at the table tried a bite and agreed. I told the waitress it was terrible and I couldn’t eat it and she just said oh well and walked off. No offer to make anything right or anything. My husband had the«meatloaf» which was not like meatloaf at all, just a mound of beef with a ton of mustard soaking it. My girlfriend got the BBQ Mahi Mahi, which was just like Kraft BBQ sauce dumped on the Mahi Mahi after it was fully done cooking, so weird. Why would you ruin good fish like that? Maybe they were serving old fishy stuff and trying to cover up the taste/smell? No idea Her husband got the Ahi, which was the not as bad as the rest, but still was doused in a very heavy thick soy type sauce. What is up with that? I don’t know anyone who likes nice seafood to be covered in thick cheap sauce. At the end of the night we rang up a $ 300 bill for food we couldn’t eat with a rude waitress, the night was salvaged by desert at Manhattan Beach Creamery next door though.

Been a while since we have been to Fonz’s, and today decided to look for a place for reservations. Fonz’s was not on Open Table, and I called and got it! Excellent dinner and service, and had: — Caesar Salad — Excellent! — NY Steak(14 oz) — WASHUGE! And Excellent — Asian Halibut — a bit sweet for my wife, I thought was good. Service was excellent, ambiance excellent.(Took Über, avoided the Valet and tricky parking situation)

I’ve been here a few times for dinner over the last few years we’ve lived in the South Bay area. I’ve always ordered the filet which is perfectly paired with the garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. I’ve also ordered a few different appetizers– including the crab cakes and more recently the coconut prawns which were to die for! The last time I went, I ordered my steak medium well. It was far from and it looked more like medium rare to me. I heard 2 ladies at the table right next to us also complain their steaks were underdone. The waitress was more than happy to bring my steak back to the kitchen to have it done to my liking and they also fixed up my plate with more sauce and sides before they brought it back which I appreciated. We love this place and really hope it was just an off night with the steaks!

I’ll never be back. The waitress was a bulldog– the young one. She came over aggressively 11 times. I’m not kidding — and we told her we were waiting on someone. Screwed up our order and didn’t clue us in on the happy hour menu– we ordered wine and she charged us full price because it was 8:29. Scallops were raw in middle — I’m still grossed out.

Amazing food all around. Amazing wine selection and the staff is awesomely friendly and make you feel right at home. I highly recommend the BBQ Mahi, some of the best fish I’ve ever tasted. The swordfish is also really good. I’ve eaten here a number of times and I always get right in with little to no wait. This is a well kept secret in Manhattan Beach but a must for any local or tourist.
