Small casual dining area. Patio area. Always have sangria specials… Food average. Dine in or take out.

The food is good here. However, the atmosphere just leaves a lot to be desired. It’s an old converted house, which is cool, but it seems like they packed as many tables and chairs inside as possible. You know how it is when you go to a party some place and it’s super crowded? It’s kind of like that. The service here is also a bit disappointing. I’ve been here twice, and I don’t know if the wait staff is not experienced enough or there’s just not enough wait staff, but last time I went last week we had to flag down someone to order after the initial waitress didn’t return. «Please, I want to give you money!» All this being said, if you can deal with the above, the food is good, so it’s not completely awful. The salsa they bring you with the chips is really good, and we like their fajitas. I do find it cool that they change their sign nightly and it’s close to my neighborhood so I’m supporting local business. I think next time I’ll try to sit outside to cut down on the claustrophobia.

At best 3 stars. We saw the mixed reviews and wanted this to be a cool little place due to the proximity to home. At first, the kids menu looks like a great deal but comes with no sides and is served«a la carte». Once you order a drink, beans, rice with your kids taco(single) it’s about 7 $ a plate for the kid. Adult menu wasn’t too $ but nothing that sets them apart. They are getting the three stars due to the building, it’s charming. The margaritas taste like they come from a premix and are 5 $ a pop. The service wasn’t good at all. Waitress acted like she hated her job and everything about her life at the time.

So I’ve become a regular at this place and feel like they earned that extra star. Food is consistently good even if I switch out up. My drinks are still always filled and there’s always chips and salsa. I’ll continue to hit this place up when it comes to Mexican.

Thank you Judy for compensating my dad on the chicken enchiladas from last time. We love the food and place!

Comfortable family environment in a house… Always get chips, the waitresses are fast and friendly, and the food is tasty. Not too expensive, good value on the portions. Lots of TVs with sports on(no volume) and regular drink specials. We like it.

We thought we’d try this place rather than our regular place since they were having«free» kids meals. I put free in quotes because it’s not a kids meal, but rather a taco. They were already without room for our party of five indoors, so we sat on the deck. It would’ve been nice, but the tables were dirty, boothes were dirty, and our table had a bunch of table stuff on it from other tables. Our waitress was the only decent thing at this place. She was good about refilling our chips and drinks. We ordered fajitas that were lightly cooked(not sautéed like our fav place). The«steak» was very poor quality and chewy. The shrimp was decent. The beans were runny and the rice was missing any flavor. When we got the bill, we found we were overcharged for our meal, so was the table beside us. We were informed this happens often. Needless to say, we will NOT be back. Based on the current Unilocal rating, we should’ve known we would be wasting our $. Go a ½mi down the street to Lago for REAL Mexican food.

The food was very bland and tasteless. I liked the hot crispy chips, but the salsa had no taste. The beef taco and beef enchilatas were also boring – No flavor whatsoever. Taco Bell has better food on a bad day. I will never return. It’s as though the cook forgot to use onions, garlic, chilies, and instead just opened cans and fried unseasoned meat. And this restaurant is in a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana – a place where it’s difficult to eat bad food.

Cute building, worst dining experience ever. Food was poor, small portions not flavorful, and the service felt more like a team in training. No offer of drinks, no chips with dips and the servers never cracked a smile nor any other pleasantries. One and done! As one industry professional to another, you can do better.

Our favorite local Mexican restaurant! Not sure what the other reviewers are looking for, but I find the food tasty and fresh(unlike the over-seasoned, smothered in cheese dishes typically called«Mexican food»). I’ve been to Mexico a few times — Mi Mamacita’s is doing it right. Service is consistently good. My favorite dish — the grilled fish tacos — come in crunchy taco shells by default, and if the server doesn’t ask I am notorious for forgetting to tell them I’d like soft flour tortillas. Servers cheerfully fix the error every time. The old-house charm is makes for a cozy family dinner spot, as well as a fun date night dinner. There are TVs in the main dining rooms, showing sports games with no sound. There is a bar(an add-on to the original old house) and I love that it has a separate entrance so it doesn’t detract from the cozy family area. A HUGE deck with outdoor seating and stage for live entertainment accommodate bigger parties. Food and drinks are very reasonably priced, portions are generous, and there are daily happy hour specials. Nothing not to like.

I went in there a couple nights ago by myself and was pretty ok with everything until I found out that they had put gratuity on my meal. I have never had ANY restaurant I have been to put gratuity on my bill when I was sitting alone. I am pretty sure they were hoping I was an idiot who couldn’t add up my bill on my own so that I would tip them extra. Even if that wasn’t the case, how cheesy. The management of this place is really lacking if all they do is hire rude 16 year olds to handle their guests. Get a life. One waitress was at least kind enough to come up to me and ask me if I needed anything when she thought that I was her table that nobody had told her about. I would definitely give her a better score if I could. These kids need to know the meaning of service. Not«give me money» –ice.

The exterior was cute but all in all, the experience was disappointing. The service was lacking – ordered queso and the server forgot to bring chips so it sat on the table cooling off and developing a skin before we saw the waitress again(we were sitting outside). Mr. B asked about a special that was on a board by the hostess station and our waitress said, «Honestly, I don’t know about that dish» and she didn’t offer to find out. Very awkward. The food itself was under-seasoned and just looked kind of sad on the plate. Skip it.

This restaraunt is claustrophobic and the tables are on top of each other. I ordered the taco dinner plate and it was pretty good. I would go back but definitely not if it looks crowded.

Love the look of the exterior. Was a bit set back by the interior. I like the cozy home feel but was VERY obvious it was an old house. Made you feel slightly like and intruder or the need to be very quite. Wish they maybe opened up a wall or 2. Salsa and queso is excellent. We find it hard to find good queso and this hit it on the head! Food was good. Not over the top but worth eating again. Outdoor seating wasn’t available on a pretty day which was a bummer, hopefully we can go enjoy the outdoor seating soon.

This is the closest to real Mexican food of all the northshore mexican restaurants — Delicious! Cozy hole-in-the-wall

Very cute little old house with a cute staff. Mt wife’s cheese enchilada was very good, but my beef fajitas were plain with little seasoning. The chips and dip were very good. Make sure to check out the restroom. Very quaint.

If you don’t like Mexican, but like margarita’s or need a place to take the kids here is your place. This food is closer to Taco Bell than real Mexican. Nothing was remotely authenticate which wouldn’t be so bad except it didn’t taste very good either.

Mi Mamacita’s is an interesting place. Located on Florida Street in an old house, the sign promises New Mexican Cuisine. I don’t know if that means food from New Mexico or Mexican food done a new way. Either way, the food is good, but the service is even better. We arrived of a Wednesday which happened to be kids eat free day. It was a little more crowded than usual because of that, so we were a bit crammed. Since it is an old house some of the rooms are small and the tables are close together. All of the staff were young, but very attentive and friendly. The chips were hot and fresh and their salsa and queso were very good. I ordered chicken fajitas, which were good, but not great. The chicken was good, but a tad dry. The vegetables were perfectly cooked, but there were two large whole green onions on top, which were hard to eat. If they would have been chopped it may have been easier to eat. If you’re looking for a different type of place from the larger Mexican(or new Mexican) food places, Mi Mamacita’s is worth a try.

Horrible! The service was great though! Food was bad! We went in for breakfast expecting so awesome Huevos Rancheros, but got the opposite. It was the most boring, brown looking plate ever! First off, maybe it was wrong for me to assume, but I always thought it was a given that Huevos Rancheros came with fried, over easy eggs. Nope, not here. They asked how we wanted our eggs. When we got our food, the refried beans were bland and pasty. The potatoes were also bland. I don’t think I tasted one grain of salt or pepper. The green sauce was mediocre. Also, there wasn’t one sprig of cilantro! How do you have a mexican breakfast with no cilantro!?! I took about 5 bites and refused to eat the rest. I felt like it was the biggest waste of money. Ended up going to the Donut King afterwards and splurged on glazed donuts instead. Maybe I’m just used to fresh, flavorful food, but this lacked everything. I don’t see how people find this place great. Skip here and try another place!
