WORSTSERVICEEVER. I am a former employee of Mandina’s and have always continued to enjoy dining there as a customer. Not tonight however. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar to enjoy a nice evening of great food and drinks. The food was outstanding, as usual, but our bartender was awful. I don’t know her name because she didn’t introduce herself or try to chat up a friendly conversation. We sat at an EMPTY bar and were there for 10 minutes before our order was taken. When the food finally did arrive, we were completely ignored again. She didn’t even come back to ask how the food was or if we were enjoying our experience. It was a full 20 minutes of empty beverages before she returned again, at which point we were asked if we were ready for our check, while food still on our plates! Then we waited another 10 minutes or so to check out. We ended up having to get a waiter to help with that because once again the bartender was too busy doing nothing and playing on her phone to grant service to her patrons. No tip was left nor deserved. MANDINA’S FAIL!

I have never in my life not tipped a server/bartender. I sat with my boyfriend on Lundi Gras for a poboy and a drink out and was neglected in a room full of maybe 2 other tables. I would have tipped had I thought she was new and confused. However, it was clear she knew the other customers. Perhaps I just didn’t seem like the tip-able type? Not worth the investment in her time. Not worth my investment anymore either.

The service was excellent. Our drinks never became empty. We started out with the Turtle Soup which was very good. My companion had the Shrimp Remoulade Salad, which she enjoyed. She was happy with the generous amount of shrimp and said the remoulade was better than most places. I had the lasagna which was a large portion. The meat was well seasoned and the sauce had a fresh flavor to it. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert to share. It was very large. It was delicious, but we were only able to eat half of it as we had become unable to eat anymore. There are so many options on the menu. I look forward to coming back and sampling more of their menu.

I have been here twice and both times the food was excellent! The staff were extremely attentive. I didn’t have to ask for anything once. Multiple people checked on us throughout our visit and it really felt like a family atmosphere where the staff truly cared about their customers. We will definitely come back again!

Exelent! Food is amazing, but be prepared the portions are the right size not massive. The drinks are excellent! A little«hot» if you know what I mean, but I like my drink like that. We had a good server and the host that seated us was very nice. We will be coming back.

Very average. I hesitate to give any more than two stars because the french fries were so bad and they should at least be able to have good french fries. The gumbo was boring and served way too hot. The garlic bread that comes with the gumbo was the best thing I had. My date’s calimari was decent but not great. The biggest disappointment was the average hamburger I was served. Like french fries, this should not be something that is difficult to do well. I guess this is all to be expected from a strip mall restaurant. I’ll add that it was kind of gloomy inside too. And the restrooms were funky…

This is not FORMERLY of New Orleans. The New Orleans location is still there — Mandeville is just an addition. That being said, Mandeville is NOT as good as the New Orleans location. We want for Sunday dinner and, while it was ok, it was a little is disappointing. The environmental surfaces are hard, so the restaurant tends to be a litte noisy. We are able to get Mandina’s famous turtle soup(and it was excellent), however the marinated crab claws were unavailable(so disappointed). One of us ordered catfish dinner and, the other, grilled shrimp Both were serveded with boiled potatoes and green beans(plain, unseasoned). My companion said the shrimp did have some seasoning. My catfish was not seasoned well and the whole meal was just blah. Daily special was not offered — at New Orleans location, turkey/dressing and liver/onions is often on the menu. Nothing was bad, it’s just that it wasn’t truly enticing(except for the turtle soup). Doubt that we will be back.

6÷24÷15 — Ordered 3 Trout Almandines to go. All 3 were fishy tasting. I wish we had eaten in the restaurant, we would have sent them all back. It has been a year since we were there. Unfortunately, the trout was very dry and not tasty then. I will stick with NOLA Mandina’s. It’s always good.

Monday night and it’s pretty darn empty. The staff are very friendly and attentive. There is something a little unsettling about eating in a large dining room with no other patrons, so take my review with a grain of salt. The food was descent, though not spectacular. As an out-of-towner, I was expecting a little more local flair to the food, but it didn’t taste any different than a fast food chain. I won’t be back but appreciate the kind service.

Ate lunch there today, got the lasagna. It was bland and room temperature in the middle. The cheese had a texture of a processed type. I had to ask for bread and the flatware was cafeteria grade. My only fork was small and bent. With there prices, one would expect at least Wal-Mart grade. I take a Prilosec every other day and have not had heart burn in three years, until today. I was warned about the sauce doing that. Don’t think I’ll go back. Out of all the Italian restaurants on the North Shore, this has the worst lasagna. I do not eat at Olive Garden, Macaroni Grill or other chain eateries. This is only one person’s opinion. Thank you.

Mandina’s food is consistently good. Reminds of the meals I had in neighborhood restaurants while growing up in New Orleans. But it’s pricey for what it is. Tonight, the service was quite slow and harried. Things were forgotten. The server was nice, but clearly they were understaffed for a Saturday night. When our app was forgotten, we said we still wanted to try it, so it came out well after entrees. It was tasty, but I should have saved the $ 11. We had two adult meals, an appetizer and a kid’s menu item — no alcohol. With tip, it was $ 74. I think that’s the real reason we don’t go more often… Otherwise I could eat trout almandine daily. All that said, I think the service was just having an off night. If it weren’t so pricey, we would be regulars.

Went to Mandina’s yesterday for the turtle soup. It was totally awesome as was the catfish poboy and roast beef sandwich. My visiting friend liked the soup so much we returned, today, before he left town. Again the soup was amazing and so was the muffaletta. The olive salad was great! Not sure about the previous guests comments about tomato and mayo on the sandwich because it wasn’t on ours. We were asked if we wanted them on the side but it was our choice. A great experience overall and Zach was a great waiter.

Worse muffuletta I have ever had. They really need to review what is on a muffuletta. Tomatoes and Mayo is not on it and there is more than Ham and hard salami. You can add olive salad to anything but it does not make it a muffuletta.

Went here with my boyfriend around 7 on a Friday night. We sat in the bar area, as there was a short wait for the main dining room. Service was good. The bartender/waiter brought garlic bread to our table right away and answered a few questions we had about their specials of the day and some items on the menu.(Btw, the story of Mandina’s is on their menu… great story!) We split a salad(it’s big enough to split and they were happy to allow it) and the meatballs with spaghetti. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We thoroughly enjoyed our«data Italiana notte!!»

Tried a different twist on my usual Trout Almandine. Tonight had Trout Creole. Excellent. Enough food for two because of the size Speckled Trout that always use here. App was the Green Tomato with Moz & Crawfish… WOOOWEEE…out of this world. The lady had veal Marsala which she loved. The accompanying martinis were delicious. Service was attentive as usual.

Mandina’s opened their Mandeville location after Katrina in a space that was formerly a bar. I have been to this location several times, but my most recent experience was for dinner. We arrived around 6 and were promptly seated. A male waiter kind of blew us off saying he would be right with us, but didn’t seem sincere. Before he could«get to us», Lori arrived. She was super friendly and personable. She turned out to be a great server and I was glad the other guy was too busy to help us. I started with some turtle soup. Their turtle soup is similar to Commanders Palace’s version and was very good. They gave me the bottle of sherry so I could add exactly the amount I wanted. Normally the server adds till you say stop, which can mean you get too much or too little. The soup was very good. For entrees we ordered the Veal Parmesan, Shrimp Bollinaise, kids spaghetti and kids grilled cheese. The adult entrees came with a side salad which was pretty standard. What wasn’t standard was the dressing. I got their remolade which was incredible. Spicy, but not overwhelmingly so, it was very good. The kids meals were great and the spaghetti was more than enough for two kids. The shrimp bollanaise reminded me of a shrimp alfredo. There was a massive amount of shrimp, pasta and sauce. The shrimp were perfectly cooked. The sauce was creamy and flavorful. This was a good dish. The veal parmesan was very good. The veal was tender and incredible. The entire dish was covered in red sauce that tasted great. The red sauce was traditional New Orleans style and had great depth of flavor. The plate was loaded with pasta as well. This dish could feed two normal humans. We really enjoyed this meal. Lori was great, the food was great and the atmosphere is great. I highly recommend this Mandina’s location. Now if only more New Orleans restaurants would open locations over here, I would be a happy man.
