Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester

This was the first and the last time I will ever go there for any emergency. I took my cat there because she was bleeding from the mouth and I was very upset and scared, because she has been very sick. Granted I didn’t call before I brought her there, because I was sort of panicking and just scooped her up and brought her. Well, I was left to wait in the waiting room for well over an hour, and had to watch 3 dogs, that came up to a half an hour AFTER after us, get called in. Mind you, NONE of these dogs seemed in any distress, nor were they regular clients, as they also filled out new patient forms just like me. The dogs were comfortable and patiently waiting, while my cat suffers tremendously from the stress of just being there. Never mind the bleeding mouth. What gives? I asked the front desk person why all the other dogs were seen before me, and she snippishly replied that they’re acting like any emergency room would. REALLY??? So Emergency rooms don’t go by first come first served… they simply go by whoever they feel needs to be seen first??? So if other people would have come in, I might have waited all day? How do they know the detrimental effects to my cat’s health just by the stress of it? Well, I headed to AVC down the street and they were happy to take care of my cat RIGHT AWAY in a professional manner.

My dog went in for a surgery consult. If there had been a different hospital that could have done the surgery in my area, I would have gone there. The front desk staff is miserable. Never smiling, never a nice greeting. They look like they are being tortured. They are very, very expensive. All my blood work had done weeks earlier was not good enough so I had to pay to do the exact same bloodwork again. I brought her in for an 8 am drop off time yesterday and there wasn’t anybody there. They were 10 minutes late for work which I guess would not have been a big a deal except they made me late for my job. I waited until 12:30 today to find out when I could pick my dog up and how she made out overnight. They left me on hold and came back on and told me to come down now. I went down and paid the rest of my bill. Then I had to wait over 25 minutes for them to bring my dog out to me. The vet tech explained to medications to me and that I had to pay for more follow up visits. I don’t understand why they don’t include all regular follow-​ups in their total bill for surgery. Once again, the front desk staff was less than friendly. When I asked last week if I would need a crate for my dog after her surgery I was told no. Today I was told I needed one. While the place is very clean and the Surgeon seemed nice enough, the front desk was less than friendly. I can’t comment on how well the surgery went as my dog, despite being on all the pain meds they prescribed, is still in excruciating pain. Another bonus is that they sent her home with «The Cone Of Shame» which falls off her head if she just looks at the ground. They didn’t even bother to attach it to her collar. Nobody even offered to help me lift her into my car and she is NOT a small dog. Hopefully, this procedure takes. I guess it’s better than having nothing in the area.

Absolutely the best staff and caring providers who have cared for my dogs in my urgent time of need. Great bedside manners for us owners of our furry family members and treat my girls with only the utmost care and compassion. I would never go anywhere else for an emergency.

I’ve had to bring my Jack Russell 2x; recently March 2014; he’s 14 y.o. I am so impressed with the facility, how clean it is, how nice everyone is. Yes, you’re going to pay more but it’s like having my Winston at Mass. Gen. instead of City Hospital. Staffing ²⁴⁄₇ — so he’s not alone at night which is a big relief. Someone said the doors were locked — maybe they were talking about the place down the road on the other side. I also consulted by phone last year when my JR got heatstroke over a weekend. I was seeing my vet on the Monday, but they gave me good advice, and didn’t try to make a pitch that I needed to get there asap. I admired that. If you ever need ²⁴⁄₇ emergency, go right there — you don’t even have to call.

I have been here three times now, and I don’t know what I’d do without them. The first visit, my dog fell critically ill on a weekend that my vet was out of state. Diagnosed with a tick-​borne illness, sent home with a full course of meds. Second visit, one of my dogs bit the other and left an open wound; the dog that got bit needed stitches. I could have waited to see my vet in the morning, but the open wound had me very concerned about the possibility of infection. This time, my 10 week old puppy had a freak accident that left him with a broken leg. He was in so much pain that I knew I didn’t want to wait for morning to be seen.
It is indeed pricey, and that is my only complaint. But if your pet is as close as family, and care can’t wait, help is available here. The waiting area and clinical rooms are spotlessly clean, the medical staff are amazing. During our first visit, the vet actually sat on the floor to examine my dog, who was very sick and very scared. Tremendous compassion on their part.

Will never take a pet there again. My dog collapsed in front of me at 6am and I frantically called them so they knew we were on our way. Got there door was locked and no one at the front desk. I was pounding on the door and finally someone came and let us in… they were more worried about paperwork than my dog. My dog passed away and they showed NO emotion. Never go there in an emergency. I have been to the other place and they were wonderful.

New, big, clean, spacious, free coffee, water, friendly staff, modern, pet friendly, and so much more.
My Jack got sick and needed a special test which we came here.
His Primary vet sent us here and efficiently faxed over the paperwork and medical records.
In a few words, everything was wonderful except the cost. $ 450. Yeah. I was there a little over an hour and we had vitals, consult, and a liver ultra sound.
$ 450. Then was sent back to the PCP for the scripts and follow up.
I would recommend, but be prepared to bring your pet’s nest egg.
