US Post Office

If you come here around lunchtime or during peak off-​work hours and you need one of the employees to help you, expect to wait in a very long line for up to 30 min. (I generally use this time to catch up on Unilocal reviews!) And during this rush period, expect for there to be only one register open at a time — sometimes they’ll surprise you and open two.
On a positive note, their employees have always been both friendly and helpful. And they do have a mail machine you can use to get exact postage and avoid the line (it even operates outside of their usual hours), but media mail isn’t an option.
This location also offers a nice, if overpriced, selection of greeting cards, decorative mailing supplies, and gift cards.
I realize many of the problems I have with them, such as slow service at this location, are largely due to being underfunded. USPS as an organization has experienced many budget cuts recently, and they’re doing their best with what they have. Unfortunately, all I can do is try to be as objective as possible about my experience here.

They scan packages and say they delivered them. I NEVER get anything anymore. Our mailman retired and now they give us people who cannot read or they do not know their numbers past 4.
WHERE IS MY PACKAGE AND JUST BECAUSE IT IS SCANNED, DOES NOT MEAN YOU SCANNED IT AT MY HOUSE.
Today, I called the supervisor and he said, «we will look for it.»
REALLY?
Then when the post man showed up, I asked him, «How did you scan it, say it is delivered, and now they are LOOKING FOR IT? So you lost it, right?»
«Sorry»…as he slinks off.
SOMEONE has my package. with the RECEIPT and ALL MY INFORMATION & EMAIL address!!!
This post man HAD TO HAVE had it in his hands, to scan it as «delivered.»
HE ROBBED me, and I am not letting this privacy violation go.
The TRACKING NUMBER suddenly comes up as «not found». Tell me that is not weird?
SWANSON VITAMINS, did their job, shipping it through UPS. UPS got it to USPS, and then THEY TOTALLY BLEW IT. Manchester, CT, is just back-​arsed.
You make $ 35.00 or MORE an hour… this is beyond a potential «identity theft» and/​or robbery. Stealing mail or packages is a FEDERAL OFFENSE.
UPS needs to stop bringing packages that start out with them, to morons.
I notified SWANSON and told them everything i did. They keep a record, to decide if they are actually saving money, adding these people into the mix.
If they have to keep re-​shipping because of MANCHESTER USPS MAIL, there is no cost effectiveness anymore.
They wonder why they are going out of business?
I will not order online from companies who do not use UPS or FED-​EX, exclusively. I am done!

This post office is always buzzing!
From self-​serve options, to a shipping center loaded with cards and any type of packaging option you could ever imagine, this location has it all. They provide a decent amount of space to package gifts, for those who have not packaged them before arrival. (Pro-​tip: Bring your own packing tape!)
As a frequent shipper, I have never seen fewer than six people in line here. It is an exceptionally busy office, so prepare yourself for a bit of a wait. Yes, there will probably be a screaming child, a nosy line neighbor, or a loud cell phone talker while you wait, but this is no reflection of the office itself, so go to your zen place and be very kind to the postal workers when it is your turn, because they’re dealing with the same nonsense. There is a regular rotation of five or six postal experts at this office, all of whom I’ve experienced to be exceptionally knowledgeable and efficient, so feel free to ask them about any shipping options or questions you have may, and they’ll make sure your packages arrive to your specifications.
Overall, this is a fantastic office, which is why I am willing to deal with the inevitable wait due to sheer popularity of this location. The postal workers and their efficiency make it completely worth it!
