As of right now, Michael’s is the cheapest in the Buckland Hills Mall for engagement ring resizing — I paid $ 55 instead of the up to $ 125 that was quoted by other jewelers. When I initially came in to get a quote, a friendly high school classmate of my fiancé recognized me and we had a fun time chatting. Unfortunately, the business side of things was taken care of by an older male employee, whose taciturn attitude was a little off-putting. He watched me try on multiple test rings to try to figure out which was the right size, without giving me any advice, providing assistance, or really saying anything. I had to ask for a recommendation before he commented that one of the sizes looked too tight. He said that my ring would be ready in a week, which was impressive given one of the timeframes I was quoted at another jeweler was up to two weeks. He said if it came in earlier that they would give me a call. The day before the week was up, I thought to give them a call to see if my ring had come in, at least so I could get it the next day. The employee who picked up said that it had come in that morning, but they hadn’t had a chance to call. At this point, it was so late in the day that I wasn’t going to have a chance to make it over, so I was disappointed that they hadn’t notified me when they said they would. The next day, I called ahead to confirm that they were closing in 15 min, and the woman I spoke to kept passively suggesting I come tomorrow instead. I finally told her I would be by two minutes before closing, which she reluctantly acknowledged. I did make it and my ring is polished and now fits! And I did apologize for coming so close to closing time. Based on my experience, I would recommend this jeweler for the pricing and quick turnaround, but I have mixed feelings about the staff and service I received.

Michael’s is a great family jeweler. They have a good variety with a better selection than a Kay’s or Zales. They are a higher end«chain,» even though they aren’t a chain, per se, though they do have multiple locations. The best part of Michaels is their staff. My first time, I got Mark Buker, and he was a pleasure to work with. I took quite a long time deciding, and eventually ended up not buying the piece I was looking at. Mark never pressured me, and was really a good guy. Later came back for a watch because of my experience the first time, but unfortunately, they were closed for inventory that day. Came back closer to Valentine’s Day again, and while Mark wasn’t there, was helped by another good guy… Tony, I think was his name… an Italian guy. Great people working there, and a much more worthwhile stop than Zales and such.

Overpriced for resizing a platinum engagement ring. My Fiancé went there to get her ring sized DOWN from a 6 to a 4 ¾. Without shopping any where else she agreed to spend $ 170…I shopped around after and found other Jewlers charging $ 50– $ 70. They took 2 weeks to do it because they ship everything out to a third party. They also had very poor customer service when we were trying to call and get updates. I would not reccomend this place, you are better to go to a more reputable chain like Kay’s or private Jewlery company. Poor Customer Service, overpriced, and longer than average times for repairs/appraisals.
