Crown Fried Chicken

This place is a nice hidden gem in the city. Food here is good service is excellent and there’s never a very long wait. Prices are reasonable and they serve decent sized portions.

I went to their new location a few days after it opened, and I will never come back. The place was not very busy and I waited a while for the employees to finish their conversation and then they finally took my order. I got the three-​piece combo with some bland coleslaw, but apparently they can’t count too well because they only gave me two pieces. I should have checked my order before leaving, but then again, they should get their orders right in the first place! I suppose they did me a favor by cheating me because the chicken was horrible — tasteless, dry, and the batter was as gritty as sand. Some people say to give a place a second chance, but there is so much wrong with this place that I can’t be bothered to waste my money again. I have lived in Manchester for 33 years and this is one of the worst places I’ve ever eaten in the Queen City. In the interest of saying something nice, I will say that their new place on Elm Street is in an easy-​to-​get-​to location. That’s it.

I found Crown Chicken on Google, and I’m glad I found my way through the maze of Manchester’s one-​way streets to get there. It is the kind of place where you can tell at once that the food is prepared with care and love. Ali is very friendly. We talked about halal food and he even gave me a wing to try while I waited for my order! The buffalo wings were good but the fried chicken was better. Next time I will try the meat pies.

Really good cheap halal fried chicken. Lots of combos on the 109 item menu. Rough neighborhood though. Consider their delivery service for $ 2 extra. Me? I just bring extra magazines.
