So, I love anything that has to do with art(more 2-D rather than 3-D). However, I’ve always been impressed with artists who kick total butt in ceramics and sculpture. Manassas Clay is owned by Jane & Fran; they’re the friendly ladies up at the front of the store who work on their own pieces and greet anyone who comes in. The store is like a little gallery of local artists and their handmade items. They also have offer classes that you can join, such as clay classes, private classes, an open studio that you can work on your pieces, glazing services/availability, as well as opportunities to rent the studio for your own classes/events. If you check the store’s website, they have events, such as Gallery Walks and hands-on workshops with local artists. The store also has Tin Barn Pottery supplies, where you can purchase clay, glazes, dry materials, and equipment — just know that they are a boutique supplier so they have only a limited supply in stock. My favorites from this store were the ‘Miniatures’ by artist, Alex Meiklejohn; pear plates by artist, Jennifer Dinkelmeyer; and, the ‘Toad Hall’ by artist, Marylou Hobbs. A cool place to check out to peruse around, check out the artists working on their craft, as well as purchase some unique hand-made items for gifts and such: D

Amazing shop! Not only do they have beautiful handcrafted bowls, plates, vases, etc– but they sell ceramic glaze and tools. I’ve never seen anything like it. If I lived in the area, I would be here every weekend mixing up high fire glazes and admiring the artists that are far more talented on the wheel than I.

Fun place for a pottery class… you can take one on the wheel or hand building!
