Used to love the Main Scoop, but the new owners need to get it together or else they’ll lose their business(well, my business anyway) to Hoffman’s, like Mary P. said in her review. My family eagerly went for our first ice cream of the season over Memorial Day Weekend and the service was just off. On top of that, the portions were noticeably smaller and the taste was lacking(my sister said the mocha chip basically tasted like vanilla). I’ll probably give it one more chance this summer & update.

Yum and yum! I had 2 scoops of «dark side of the moon» which was chocolate cake pieces with chocolate crunchies in a heavenly chocolate ice cream sandwiched between layers of hot fudge and brownie bites. YES I was having a bit of a chocolate craving! And my hubby had creamy strawberry ice cream atop a wafer cone. Thankfully we parked a little ways from the shop so we got some walking in while we consumed about 2,000+ amazing calories! All in all– pleasant experience for our first time.

The ice cream here is fine if you want a quick fix but it’s really nothing special. If you like really rich and creamy ice cream, this is not the place to get it. The ricotta fig sounded delicious but tasted nothing more than vanilla with some jam swirled in. The staff was friendly but I won’t be coming back.

This place is awesome. Great selection and some novel ones to try. The ice cream is the real deal!!! It is all home made. Service is pleasant and can try new favors. A great find and beats all others.

The best ice cream in town. Revolving flavor list. Keep an eye out for carrot cake! Everything seems fresh as there is a near constant crowd here. They handle the volume well. The staff is always nice, humor inch the kids with tastes of numerous favors until they find the one they want Generous portions, reasonable prices and great ice cream make this a go-to spot

There are many ice cream shops in the shore area. I’ve been to many of them. And on a warm summer night you normally have a wait. Not at The Main Scoop. That should tell you something. It’s a Tuesday night, 8:45PM. still 80+degrees at the end of a high 90 degree day. As I ride my bike 5 blocks to The Main Scoop I can’t help but notice the many dozens of bikers-mostly teens but some adults out on this beautiful summer night. I arrive at The main Scoop and I am the only customer. The ice cream selection is nice, I go for the vanilla caramel crunch. My experience at the many other ice cream shops has taught me to go for the small. It’s normally more than enough. Not so at The Main Scoop. My small was the equivalent of most others’ kiddie size, but the price was right up there with competitors for a small-$ 3.50. It would have taken an enormous, stupendous, outrageous taste to overcome the price shock. And, It didn’t. So I guess the crowds at Hoffman’s, or Sundaes have already tried this place. You’ll probably find me at Hoffman’s or Sundaes, or Strollos or Maccanico’s or The Beach Plum, or Dairy Queen or anywhere that serves a bigger small size. I can get a pint of Ben and Jerry’s at almost any supermarket for $ 3.50 and I won’t have to eat it alone.

Good ice cream spot with friendly efficient staff. Little on the pricey side but it’s really good.

My daughter introduced me to «The Main Scoop» and it has been my favorite ice cream place ever since. I love sundaes. The Main Scoop uses real whip cream. The ice cream and toppings are fresh. It is all I can do to keep from licking the cup. I live in Howell and it is worth the drive. I stopped in today, Mother’s Day, and the place was packed. Families were enjoying the place together. That is always a good sign.
