Wow! Let me just start with the waiter also being your chef! Seriously. Our food came in perfect time and was delicious. Real, fresh, and just right. Sometimes veggies get killed at restaurants, end up like mush or not cooked at all. This was truly a great dinner. Matt did a spectacular job. If ever back in town, we will be back! Oh, also got to add pricing was good. Definitely appropriate for the quality and portions.

Overall a very pleasant experience for us. Delicious steaks, and a fun concept with your server also being the one to grill up your steaks. I wish the bar space was a bit bigger because it was crowded over there and a bit cramped as we waited for our table, but otherwise, a delicious dinner!

Delicious! Great food, great atmosphere. Attentive and gracious staff. Had the halibut, prime rib mogul cut, and blackberry pie. Apparently the oldest restaurant in mammoth? How cool!

What can’t I say about this wonderful establishment! There are not enough words to describe how amazing this place is! Services, food, the salad bar. Just amazing! My family and I loved our dinner. The owner was awesome! He makes you feel at home, stops by everyone’s table gets to know you. They know how to treat customers, and take very good care of them. Thank you for the amazing dinner you guys! We will be back!

Great spot in a town where there aren’t many. The best value is the happy hour menu at the bar. The sautéed mushrooms and ahi tuna are great. The bar tender knows how to make a wicked Manhattan as well, don’t order it with well whiskey though.

Good steaks. Had an excellent New York steak last night. Good salad bar. Relatively inexpensive bottle of Rioja at $ 27. Service was good but not excellent. But food was very good. I’d def return.

I am giving this fine establishment 4 out of 5 stars because the food and drinks were fantastic, however, it seemed to be a little outdated. It looked as though the carpet had not been replaced in 45 years, and same with the chairs. However the menu looked fantastic like they were replaced this morning. Everything on the menu seemed to look fantastic, I had the Ahi Tuna, my friend Fergahl had the Fillet and shrimp, my BFF Faaraah had the petite chicken(she has a small stomach LOL) and finally, the fourth friend at my table, Marlene ordered the spaghetti. EVERYTHING was fantastic, except for the outdated furniture and carpet. Truly a marvelous experience.

On e of the best steakhouses I’ve eaten at. And I have eaten at steakhouses all over America. Try the T-Bone. The kids steak is awesome for the value. My kids loved it.

Great service and food. Although our sautéed mushroom appetizer was too salty which was inedible, our server, Matt happily switched it out for a less salty one. I went for a Petit Filet and veggies which was a perfect portion for dinner. Would love to go back to try their Prime Rib

This place has a nice old school chalet décor and friendly professional staff. I thought it was fun to have your waiter cook your meat for you and he did a decent job. But, the food is also old school. So if you want to eat food that is plain and stuck in previous decades, than this is the place for you… Most of the choices at the salad bar are out of a can. Even though they only charge $ 6, I don’t think it’s ok to serve canned items. They could do so much better with their concept. too bad

If I could give zero star I would. We went there for dinner based on the good reviews. My boyfriend and I ordered steak and we asked for medium. Steak came rare with more fat than meat. We paid $ 60 per meal for the worst steak. They also have a salad bar that costs you about $ 6 with meal and $ 15 without meal. Very small salad bar not worthy of $ 15. Anyways if you go there dont ever order steak.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The evening really was perfect! From the waiter, to the food, to the owner/manager stopping by our table to see how we were doing… absolutely everything about it was great. It was a quiet Sunday evening and I was pleasantly surprised when they sat just the two of us in a large booth that could have easily been saved for a larger party of 4 – 6 people. The lights are dim, the booths are warm and cozy and it made for a romantic dinner. The only thing I can even think of for improvement here: I did notice that there were lots of open tables so I was surprised when they sat us directly behind another couple and shortly after that they sat another group in the same area. I understand each waiter has«sections» but why crowd all your guests together on a quiet night when you could give them each some privacy and a more intimate experience? Other than that, our waiter was very attentive, well versed in the menu and special offerings for the night. We shared clam chowder, each took a trip to the salad bar and then finished off with the Mogul Prime Rib and Seared Ahi Tuna. I don’t eat meat(other than fish) so I can’t comment on the Prime Rib but someone sure was enjoying it! The Ahi on the other hand was a HUGE offering… I honestly don’t think I’ve been served such a glorious sized piece of Ahi ever! I have to go back to the salad bar — they’ve really done a brilliant job of selecting all the perfect toppings and I believe they said all the dressings are home made. You just don’t see salad bars that often anymore and we really enjoyed this one! We already recommended it to a number of people and even a stranger we heard talking about going to The Chart House… If you’re familiar with The Chart House this is the hometown, non-chain, version, but better. Apparently, it’s also the oldest restaurant in Mammoth. Go here — you won’t be disappointed! Thanks Mogul — we’ll be back whenever we’re in Mammoth again! And I think that’s happening in just a few weeks! Can’t wait!

What can I say about this place? The food was amazing! I must be honest: when I heard that the servers are the ones cooking the meat on the grill, I was a little apprehensive. I’m very particular about how my steak is cooked. Our server Marco, cooked my steak a perfect medium rare! The meat was so juicy and tender, I didn’t even need a fork to cut it! My sisters got the salmon and the chicken, and they both loved the dishes. We finished off dinner with a Hot Irish Nut which is a coffee cocktail and Cinnamon desert which had vanilla ice cream on top of a warm cinnamon cake with Carmel drizzled over it. As I’m writing this review, I am so stuffed! Yet another location I will definitely be visiting on my next trip to mammoth!

We ended coming up here after a less than stellar experience waiting at the bar at another nearby steakhouse. I said, «well, lets call The Mogul and see if they have a spot for us» and they did, and off we went. First of all, the service here is amazing. Such friendly people!!! I was really surprised as one of the waiters came up to us who had remembered us from a NYE event the night before. Our waiter was super friendly. What was interesting to me is that the waiters and waitresses cook the meat — I assume so they can cook it then serve immediately. Interesting concept and fun to watch! I had the fish of the day(trout) and my guy had the lamb. I got the caper butter which, though my fault, was a little too buttery and greasy for my taste, and not capery enough. The fish was cooked perfectly though! They offer a salad bar for I believe 5 $ which I was sure to get, and my meal came with steamed veggies and a baked potato as well — all included in the price of the fish, HUGE plus! Everything was good, but I think slightly under-seasoned overall. I loved that this restaurant has more of a «Mammoth» décor to it, skiing stained glass included!

The restaurant was really cold and it seemed like the air was on during our entire dinner. The ahi apetizer was delicious. Service was very slow but professional and friendly. We needed drinks but our server was slow to get our second round. Salad bar was just ok nothing special and it had bacon bits. The shrimp dinner was good and the sauce spicy. The scallops are really good. Tried the ribs tasty. The baked potatoes could use more fixings on them. Our experience was good over all but not fabulous!

The most amazing find in Mammoth Lakes. Make a reservation and get ready to relax. It was my birthday and we just wanted to be alone and be spoiled — SEVENSTARS! 1. One of the best Prime Rib meals ever! If you could give six stars, they would get seven. 2. Wine list is extensive, priced fairly. What a pleasant surprise, I have a vineyard and am impressed when a restaurant KNOWS wines. 3. Service was impeccable in all regards. 4. Price is reasonable for the outstanding quality. Be prepared to spend but their prices are fair considering the outstanding restaurant experience.

The Mogul in Mammoth Lakes, California… What can I say? It was a simply unassuming place from the outside so close to the road(not main road, but quiet side one). I could throw a rock from the restaurant entrance that could land on the road(yeah even with my gimpy arm LOL). I learned about«The Mogul» initially from Roger Reading — as he had been there while in Mammoth Lakes. So when I learned he was there I casually mentioned it and«The Professor» said: «Ah yes, I remember „The Mogul“ as I dined there before!» As usual he added: «the steaks are great and it’s great to be back.» Being my usual skeptical self I decided to give it a try, made the reservation on Open Table and said«let’s go!». We were seated immediately(it was freezing outside) and traveled past the bar full of patrons on our left, walking casually to our table that was ready for us with a candle and china service(in some ways it was like«The Lakefront»). This was a truly elegant venue for mountain dining! The walls were decorated with serene colorful oil paintings depicting Eastern Sierra Nature. Our server’s name was Jaime, she spoiled us with exceptional service and as an added delight enchanted us with her story about living the good life in Magical Mammoth Lakes. Service was great, we never had to ask for refills on anything as Jaime popped up at the precise moment I swallowed my last tablespoon of premium-roasted coffee and Professor sipped his last mouthful of red pinot-noir. I ordered the Angel Hair pasta with shrimp and he requested the New York Steak entrée(see photos). The Steak disappeared first, then the baked potato soon followed. I urged him to finish steamed yellow zucchini and broccoli. The angel hair pasta with shrimp was excellent with lemon garnish and freshly grated Parmesan cheese on the side. To top it off we shared the ever-luscious«Cinnamon Charlotte» made with Dryers Grand Vanilla, white cupcake and topped with hot homemade cinnamon sauce — which I later learned has been the house specialty since 1971. He liked it so much that the word«inhaled» came to mind. As for me, I only had three spoons of «Charlotte» before Jaime came to take the glass away for washing. The Mogul is a great place for fine dining. You will find serene décor, intimate service and premium quality cuisine — a true mountain heaven, do dine here. The next time back we vowed to meet the Chef and I promise to get some more interior shots(so elegant).
