Had a great time with the family. Stayed at Mammoth Mountain Inn which made everything much easier. Food was great at the hotel restaurant. We rented all our equipment Friday afternoon and was ready to ski when the chairs opened Saturday morning. No hassle… I walked to the rental office Saturday morning and it was packed… glad we settled everything the day before. The snow was fantastic! We had a great time. Want to give a shout out to Eric Young. We were late to return our rentals but he opened up the rental office for us anyways. We very much appreciated that service. It saved us from lugging all the equipment back to the hotel. Thank you Eric Young.

Love the resort and great skiing. Was there over MLK holiday(Jan 2016). Was disappointed with their safety and responses weather related. I understand Mammoth cannot control the weather, but they left the top open with 40−50mph+ winds. There were NO signs indicating their backside(chairs 13&14) were closed. In fact there was no reason even the cat track on the backside should have even been open. I have not experienced that treacherous of a ski run in years as an expert skier. I spent almost an hour pushing against the wind to get down to the bottom of the backside only to discover BOTH chairs were closed. They had a few snowmobiles shuttling guests up the hill so we could get out. It was an «interresting» experience. After losing 3+ hours, I went to the ticket booth to discuss our situation. They took my information and promised to contact me with a possible solution/discount ticket for their failure to notify anyone of the closure. NO contact. After spending 30 minutes on hold and talking to the ticket manager CHRIS at the Main Lodge, I was told it was clearly marked and was closed by ski patrol. That’s an outright LIE. We would have never gone down there if it was clearly marked. There shouldn’t have been people down there if it was clearly marked. I was essentially blamed for going down there when I shouldn’t have. I always thought of Mammoth as a great ski resort that puts the guests’ safety first. It seems like over the past few years that has changed. I wouldn’t expect a free lift ticket, but something since I lost about a half day of skiing because of the staff’s lack of trail marking and no detail for guest safety. I guess I need to find another mountain to consider skiing since safety and guest relations is no longer important to them.

Come here you must. If you ever want to experience something insanely awesome, this is where you must come. Approving of this place Yoda would. Spring, Summer, Winter, or Fall, all you have to do is call on Mammoth and itll be there. Do you like beautiful vistas, skiing, snowboarding, sledding, biking, hiking, or just a nice place to relax? This place has all of that across all of the seasons. The food may not be the greatest, the prices may be a bit steep, but I swear to you that this place is well worth a visit. I have been coming here since ’78 and love it. It is also unsurprisingly one of those unique places that fills me with energy and lets me relax at the same time. I cant suggest a trip here more. Straight talk here; you do not want to miss this hidden gem. But this Volcano is something fun to check out and experience. It is also my favorite ski resort anywhere.

I know absolutely nothing about mountain biking, skiing, or snowboarding Mammoth Mountain. I know very little about hiking Mammoth Mountain. I do know that the view from the top is spectacular and that all the people who mountain-bike, ski, or snowboard from the top are absolutely insane. There are no trees near the peak, probably because of wind shear. Actually, it’s like an alpine desert way up here, if that makes any sense. But there are beautiful wildflowers in the summer, plenty of bees to pollinate them, and even more butterflies to drink from them. It was an amazing experience, despite the fact that the smoke from a relatively nearby forest fire made the air look like smoggy L.A. circa 1966.
