Our first time here on Mammoth Mountain for USA cycling’s mountain bike nationals. My husband slashed his tubeless tire on his pre-ride and needed it replaced. Went to Brian’s based on reviews, however, left quite disappointed. As my husband looked at tires, Brian stated he also had others on hand, not as high-end. My husband was willing to buy the tire there, however, the shop did not carry any tire that would suffice. We brought extra tires with us but they were in our hotel room. Husband asked if the shop could put it on for him for a fee. Brian’s response was«it’s messy and I don’t get anything out of it.» We’ll be sure to let everyone at the USA cycling event site who asks us for a bike shop recommendation know. We went right down to footloose sports and paid their $ 15 service fee to have it changed. May be a great shop and Brian may be a nice guy, however, we were turned off by his response.

I love supporting local businesses, and particularly small indy ones. Though I’m not certain, Brian’s Bikes and Cross Country Skis feels like a husband/wife or family operation, and you get that immediately on entering the place. A month or so ago, we went in to inquire on pricing for cross-country skis and were greeted by Brian himself who gave us detailed information and well as reasonable price quotes on several different types of skis. Then last week, we went back ready to rent and were greeted by the most friendly woman(wish I had gotten her name!) who helped me with boot sizing, and xc skis. she asked detailed questions on what terrain we were heading out for, and gave us great recommendations for that day and the long busy holiday weekend so as to help us have a more quiet XC experience. The skis were great, the boots comfy, and the price was super fair: $ 20.00 for 24 hours and $ 16 for the second day. We used the skis for two days and had a blast both in the free areas up on Lake Merry road and then the second day at Tamarack XC ski area. So much fun, I wish I was there right now! Thanks, Brian’s… I“ll be back again until I buy my own! :)

Great service, good gear and fair pricing. We rented some stride skis and were in and out in about 10 – 15 minutes. Just $ 20 for the first day(a day is 24 hours, btw – not a business) and $ 16 thereafter.

There’s a reason why Brian has owned this shop for 39 years. He’s exceptionally knowledgable, friendly, and doesn’t push anything onto the customer. As other reviewers have mentioned, his selection far exceeds what you would expect from a shop of this size. Prices are very reasonable. Bought a great pair of cross-country skis from him today and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Get out there and support the local guy!

Small shop, has some of the old school parts the other guys don’t to keep you rolling. The shop, and owner Brian, remind me of the bike shops in my area and is not like the the other resort style feel goody shops full of the latest bling and fashion.

So as I am cruising around Mammoth today, I randomly went down a street to explore that I hadnt headed down before. And what should I find but perhaps the only roadie bike shop in Mammoth! However since this is still snow time… They also have a heavy collection of cross country skiing equipment. For cross country skiing they are right near the meadows which is a great area to go. They have a huge selection of gear that was very surprising to me. Literally it seems like they have the best selection of cross country equipment in town. Pro Tip: Easy parking specific for it and a nice bike rack to park your roadie during the summer… They have a good selection of biking equipment during the riding season. They had a nice Giant roadie sitting in there too. Brian seems very knowledgable and had a large number of suggestions for places to ride roadies or mountain bikes. It also looks like his shop is set up to do a quick tune up or whatever you need on a bike repair wise. He impressed me with his knowledge of the basics while I was there talking with him. Seems like a great shop for support when you need it here locally.

Service is ok, extremely limited selection. I went in to Brian’s for a new road bike tube. I’d explained that the day before I had replaced one of my tubes and after riding on my new tube for two miles, it blew out. It was my mistake, I pulled the valve too tight through the rim, forcing the tire to not sit right on the wheel. Anyway, I’d asked Brian if he had any advice on changing tubes/tires. He told me to go home, grab my wheel, and for $ 6 he’d show me how to change it. Kick rocks dude. I went home, got on YouTube(no pun intended), realized my mistake, knocked out 40 miles. When I returned home I checked out the quality of my tires. Not looking so hot these days. I pedaled over to Footloose, which by the way greets every customer and literally walks them to every and any part of the store till the customer has what they came in for and is satisfied. Walked out with two new tires. $ 80 well spent.
