Worst SAT tutor. Wish I had had a review to go by, which is why I am writing this now. My first conversation with the center, I asked what were the qualifications by which I should choose them. The owner was clearly offended and told me to look at the website. BTW the last update on the website was from 2010 – 2011.
They do not give you the full time you pay for. When you start they put a hold on your credit card, clearly because they have had unhappy people before and they want to make sure they get their money even if they do a lousy job. The had me pay for a practice test, which I had someone review that knows the test well and they said it was a total sham. I also paid $ 80 for materials which was a book that was $ 25 if bought on your own and a couple of work sheets. The owner sent me form letter emails for everything and forgot to change the name on them. We know someone else who got the same exact email. Emails that said only 50% of the homework assigned was done, I checked and 100% was done before that session… so a lie. Also miraculously the scores went way down with the test the center administered, of course this is a scam to make them look better when the student takes the real test. When I first called, the owner said she would tutor for $ 100 an hour, two sessions in she tells us that she has found us a «permanent» tutor who just graduated from college and when I ask what the rate will be for this «new» tutor, the owner emails me (another form email with the wrong name and tons of typos) that told me it wasn’t working out and I should find another tutor, I agreed.
Steer clear. There are great tutors out there. This place and many like them are trying to feed on the anxiety parents feel about SAT test scores.
