HORRIBLE customer service and imitation products passed of as real… We thought we would try this place as we recently moved and lost are go to sushi spot that we frequented 3−4x a week. Prices and atmosphere are what is usually expected, clean, quiet, dim lights, music playing. We got 3 rolls and 2 appetizers. The appetizers were very good and the calamari was breaded nicely. The one roll we got, and the most expensive, was not up to sushi standards. It was ¾ avocado with the tiniest slice of «king crab» in it, then it had crab and a sauce on top… Problem with it was that it was not real king crab and for $ 18 you would expect to get what is advertised. I did call and they said there was no way it was the imitation that they use in the California and that it is expensive because of the type of crab. So I said again, I understood that but the type of crab we got was not the type we paid for or what was advertised. I tried explaining maybe it was a one time error and I am sure it normally is the king crab advertised, but they were not willing to admit any fault. The roll over all was gross because it was ¾ avocado and I explained that too. They asked what I wanted, I said I would I was displeased with the roll and would like to have just that roll removed from my bill. They refused to do anything. They just wanted to argue and did not care… Guess this place will not become our new spot nor will we recommend it to any one.

I come here often. By far the best sushi in the area. Great service, presentation, and taste!

We dropped by Akio after work on friday at around 6pm and we were the 2nd couple in the place. I dont know what it is about the Lincoln shopping center but the restaurants there never seem to ever get packed. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere is quaint and comforting. You can watch the sushi chef make his magic behind the sushi bar from any seat in the house. We started off with the tuna tartare. It was good. It has great flavor and some good spice to it. My girlfriend and I then split 3 rolls. We had the seafood tempura roll which was good. There were only 5 pieces but the pieces were pretty huge. The sauces were good that came with it. Second we had the king crab roll. It had decent chunks of crab and was tempura style so it had decent crunch as well. Lastly we had the malvern roll. We loved the tuna and salmon chunks inside but it did have a lemon flavored sauce on it which seemed a little weird for a sushi roll. Overall all the rolls were good and fresh. The bill wasnt too bad for what we had and byob is great considering the liquor store and beer store are a few doors down. I liked Akio and would eat there again.

OK, so my spouse and I were visiting town for a wedding. We’re from Seattle, where the Japanese cuisine is generally always excellent, so our standards are high. This Akio place is really good. We ordered 3 special rolls, all of which were delicious: Samurai, Tuna Lover’s, and Godzilla. Plus they gave us free green tea ice cream. You wouldn’t guess the place is this good, since it’s located in a rather nondescript strip mall. Don’t miss it though!

What a great spot for affordable sushi! Outstanding quality and service. Takeout but nice people. Did the 3 rolls, spicy salmon, spicy tuna and salmon avocado. Fantastic!

Had a groupon . This is in the Lincoln shopping center in Malvern, The one with the QVC outlet. We went on a weekday night and the place only had 2 tables filled. It is cold in this place even though they have put in a double door pass through. And you wouldn’t think it, but this makes the meals cold. Everything was just okay. The sushi didn’t seem that fresh… the shrimp tempura must have been made sometime earlier in the day. Too many other places for us to go back. Sorry. Service was very nice and cordial.

Food is good though expensive. My daughter loves the spicy tuna rolls and the shrimp tempora rolls are very good too. Had a couple of rolls that were so so on taste but that may have just been it didn’t suit my personal taste. Food is fresh though very expensive. Love that the ordering can be done online! Just be careful to note if you are ordering a la carte or a full roll. Mistake we made once. Chocolate bubble tea was very good. Hostess who gave us our food was very nice.

I really liked this place when it first opened. Last time there was a disappointment. Rolls just tasted not fresh. We had tempura vegetables and avocado spring roll to start. Spring roll was burnt and the tempura vegetables were very greasy.

Still loving it! Was there last night, everything Japanese should be. Great BYOB, great for date night, weeknight a or take out.

Went here while on a business trip — BYOB!!! Seriously, what a pain in the butt. What is with all these BYOB restaurants out here? Anyway, we ordered way too much food and the waitress tried to warn us but it was all good. My only complaint was several of the rolls were too big to eat in one mouthful. Sushi really needs to be a one bite thing or it loses something. Everything was very fresh, the service was great.

Not overly impressed with the food post the management change. My maki lunch did not taste fresh. The fish was ok, but was mostly flavorless… I ordered the white tuna roll and salmon avocado. The ingredients tasted like they’ve been sitting for more than a day. Like the avocado was soft and yellowish rather than soft-firm and green. The ginger had brown on the edges(how does PICKLED ginger do that other than having been left out?). The taro bubble tea tasted watered down a mildly bitter, and the boboa overly soft, losing their shape. I would consider trying something else off the menu, but there’s other options, so why? My impression of this place now is not the same as before. Seems new management has come in and implemented«cheaper» and frugal processes. They got rid of the nice touches that put it the restaurant in a slightly more upscale category… like thick napkins, nice menus, non-splinter chopsticks, etc and instead made it feel like a dime-a-dozen cookie cutter sushi place with 8“x11″ print out signs all over their walls.

Fresh sushi, great service. The volcano roll, tuna lover’s dream and ninja roll were delicious. The catching fire was our favorite. Nice selection of teas. While we did not choose the bubble tea, the oolong hot tea hit the spot. We will go back, often!

Liked Akio and will definitely be back. I got their Maki Lunch 3 Roll Combo with a spicy tuna roll, salmon avocado roll, and spicy rock shrimp roll. Came with miso soup and a side green salad with ginger dressing. Most sushi lunches come with either soup OR a salad, so this was nice since it included both. I also appreciated that the salad had other lettuces besides just iceburg. The sushi itself was tasty and fresh. I had sushi for lunch the day before I came here and the rolls at the other restaurant had little fish in them. Not the case with Akio — their rolls were nicely filled. I also have to comment on the customer service which was great. We were in a little bit of a rush and I could tell the staff was hustling to get all of our orders prepared and neatly packaged for us to go. Tip: Get your food to go and take it a few doors down to The Beer Store. You can bring food in and choose from a nice selection of beers on tap!

I’ve been here twice and everyone I bring with me loves it here. The food is amazing and the restaurant is nicely decorated. The waiting staff is really friendly, and one evening I came here with a large group, just before closing and the chef gave us dessert on the house. There are plenty of options for vegetarians and many of my friends came back here after their first visit.

Sushi was amazing! Very fresh, and the plate was beautiful. The staff was very friendly. My friend got the general tso chicken. He enjoyed it as well. We ended the night with a free dessert. The staff really made our visit. They are BYOB!

We enjoyed a very good meal at AKIO. Not sure about some of the mediocre reviews, as the food and service were spot on. We started with the chicken/shrimp dumplings, prepared and cooked to perfection, with the most amazing dipping sauce I’ve encountered… a concoction of soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, and chili paste… wow! Get this. The rolls were very good, and AKIO kicks up the spice a bit by adding sliced jalapeño to the top of several of the rolls. If you like spicy, and you like sushi, then AKIO does it better than anyone in the area. Check it out.

The sushi is pretty fresh and well made, but didn’t seem like anything special. For the price I think I would rather go across the street to Mandarin. The staff was friendly and the service was great though. Byob is a nice feature especially with the new beer store two doors down.

Good sushi, shitty service. I bought a Groupon to this place as it’s close to home and I’m in love with sushi. Why the hell not? My boyfriend and I and another couple picked up a couple bottles of wine(BYOB) and headed over on a Thursday night. The place was packed. There was two tables of two across the room from each other so I asked the hostess if we could put our name in and wait outside for a table of four to open. I’m not sure if it was the lack of English that could be spoken or just plain ignorance but she literally turned us away. She wouldn’t let us put our name in and wait. After 5 minutes of arguing because I couldn’t believe they were turning away business we left and went elsewhere. Unfortunately I still had a Groupon. We ended up going one weeknight after class and had no problem getting a table. The sushi was good, not great, but good. Nothing really special about their rolls but they were decent. Would recommend someone go here if you aren’t feeling adventurous because their sushi list was limited.

Akio is a new Japanese restaurant which opened in the complex by the DMV and QVC store in Frazer. This is a family operation where the head chef/owner and his son worked in Japanese restaurants in NYC and know many of the chefs. They offer a variety of inventive sushi rolls as well as the staples, plus they have Kushiyaki(grilled skewers) and are willing to do traditional dishes or a special Omakase if you call a day in advance. On this weekday I stopped by, sat at the Sushi bar and ordered a «mini Omakase», which included: — Yellow tail sashimi in Ponzu sauce — Salmon sashimi and salmon roe with 2 different sauces — Nigiri of Seabass, Salmon and Tuna — Tuna lovers roll — tuna, avocado, mango, topped with housemade fried taro shavings — Mochi Damage with Organic green tea was $ 40. Next time I will try the Yakitori and perhaps even call ahead for some special items for an Omakase. Hope there is sufficient support to see this local business thrive.
