this place is AMAZING. if you want a vegan treat, be sure to stop here. The vegan delight sandwich was great, just a little heavy on the peppers. The hummus was great though. Only thing I’ve tried from here. Amazing selection of goodies, very aesthetically pleasing. 10⁄10 will be returning. Incredibly friendly staff!

This is our go-to for lunch! Best thing on the menu is the Mediterranean +chicken, trust me. If you love treats the mudslide shake is amazing, as are the cookies. Ok now I’m hungry. :)

I feel like a heretic saying this, but I think john’s garden is just ok. I like that the food seems fresh and I’ve always supported it as a local business. But I also find my food is often bland and somewhat lackluster. It could just be personal preference. Wait times can be highly variable too. I’ve waited 20 minutes for a fresh juice when it wasn’t particularly busy. It’s the kind of place I want to like more than I actually like.

Sandwiches are amazing, amazing, AMAZING. Best sandwiches in Malibu. They are fresh, tasty and delicious. I love the workers there, they are so fun to chat with. The garden burger with avocado and sprouts is my fav.

LOVE this place! There are fresh and delicious salads, smoothies, sandwiches, and tons of snacks and drinks to choose from. You order at the counter and then take a number, and even when the line is long, the service is quick. Not to mention the food is delicious, and you can sit outside in the little courtyard near the playground. My pick for food is the Surfer/Princess sandwich(order using one of the two names). The best part? There’s a Pepperdine discount if you bring your ID

This place was pretty good. We got the special of the week which was a chicken pineapple and onion sandwich and we also got the tuna sandwich. I wish they had more sauces on it, but overall pretty good.

I liked this place. I tried the Hawaiian chicken panini(the weekly special) and the tuna sandwich. The Hawaiian chicken panini had chicken, a massive fresh slice of pineapple, onions, cheese, and a teriyaki sauce on ciabatta bread. Everything was super fresh and tasted healthy although it could have stood to have more teriyaki sauce on it. The tuna sandwich was standard — tuna, lettuce, tomato, onion — nothing special but it was also very fresh and they weren’t stingy with the tuna.

Love Johns Garden! Their homemade kombucha with fresh lemon and ginger juice is amazing. Also the sandwiches and salads are really good. It’s in the perfect location too!

The food was bland. I had a black bean burger and while it was good, it was lacking flavor. My boyfriend had the chicken salad sandwich which had hardly any flavor to it at all. It was better after he poured salt and pepper and his own sauce all over it. The atmosphere is great here and the food is healthy and fresh, but just too bland for my likings. If you aren’t big on flavor and spice, try this place. You’ll like it. It did its job to fill me up and satisfy me but I don’t think it had any«wow factor».

This counter service restaurant is next door to Malibu Mutt’s. They sell packaged snacks and beverages, and make delicious salads, fruit smoothies and sandwiches. The vegetarian menu is enormous, just like their salads! One salad could easily serve two people. The salads are loaded with vegetables sliced very thin, making them easy to eat. Outside is plenty of seating, good for both eating and people watching. It’s adjacent to a play area for kids, so parents can eat while their kids frolic.

Solid place to grab a good lunch for outdoor eating around the lumber yard area. Normally come here in sunny afternoons and order a large sandwich with chips on the side. Service is fairly quick and I’ve never thought the pricing was unreasonable. Cool thing about this place is the variety of drinks they have in stock. I’ve met the proprietor once and he was super friendly.

I visit clients in Malibu periodically, and whenever I am out in the area I always come to John’s Garden for lunch. There aren’t that many restaurants in Malibu where you find great food for a resonable price. Here you can! There are so many options here. From salads, to sandwhiches, melts and wraps. You cant go wrong! I usually order the portofino. The bread is crisp, the cheese is delicious, luttuce is freshly shredded, the chicken has pesto on it and its very juicy. My mouth is watering as I type this review. So good! The outdoor seating area is very peaceful, located in the courtyard of the country mart. Its a very enjoyable and calm place to have lunch. The owner is usually around as well, he always insures that everything is quality. 5 stars all the way! No complaints!

Best food to regenerate after a nice hike. Very yummy food that is healthy for you. The little convenience store is fully stocked with all the best snacks, drinks, and food that is staple to any Angeleno. They have a great speedy service with two registers. We were a group of 17 and they helped each of us fairly quickly. They were very knowledgeable about the food they were serving which is always great. I got the Roman Sandwich which was grilled chicken breast served on a baguette with sun-dried tomatoes. The flavors were delicious and every sandwich was paired with a couple of orange slices for«desert.» They are conveniently located to a nice little park so there is plenty of picnic seating available with a great view and warm environment.

Have eaten here many times, but it is not what it used to be. We got two Farm Sandwiches. Bread was thin, resembled Wonder Bread from the 50’s. Mostly composed of shredded iceberg lettuce. Sandwich was loosely & carelessly thrown together, fell apart upon first bite. Forgettable in every way.

I work nearby and had heard good things about this place; particularly the Surfer Princess Turkey Sandwich so I finally stopped by on my way home tonight and ordered 2 of this sandwich to go. My boyfriend and I were both VERY disappointed. Both of our sandwiches had almost ZERO turkey and the one tiny strand that was in the sandwich barely resembled turkey. It was ridiculous. The sandwich was 90% avocado and 10% lettuce and tomato. I also thought it included sprouts and that was missing as well. This place just served a 0.99 cent sandwich for $ 9.99. Total rip off. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Lots of better options in the area.

Atmosphere: great for hanging out! Great for kids as well, there’s a park in the same plaza and it’s a beautiful area in general. Store: many selections of «healthy foods» as well as candies. For you health freaks out there, they sell quest bars! Lol Food: I went with The Caesar Salad. It was a good size, but I was confused because the description of the dish said there was chicken in it, but mine came with no chicken unfortunately. Workers: friendly & efficient

We had lunch catered from johns garden and everyone was quite pleased with third lunch. The variety is amazing… There’s definitely something for everyone. Soups, salads, sandwiches. Lots of sides and desserts. Highly recommend if you’re visiting the Bu!

Love stopping at John’s Garden when I am in the area. The best sandwiches are here! Super fresh and large portions too! My favorite is the Malibu Club«tuna with avocado» fantastic! The peach milk shake is always a treat if in season! Friendly staff and casual picnic seating!

John’s garden is one of my favorite super casual lunch spots. It’s the type of place you want to just stop in on a Sunday, eat in the park, and just relax. I wish they were open for dinner at least in the summer, I’d be here twice as often if they were! The sandwiches are huge and always so fresh. I love the baguette here, it’s the perfect about of chew and crunch you want! My favorite sandwiches are the surfer and caprese. They really load up the surfer with the avocado, it’s very filling. The caprese is by far the best that I’ve had. They offer it with either pesto or balsamic but the pesto is a must. It just makes the sandwich perfectly flavored, and they don’t over do it. The food is great, the outdoor seating in the park is perfect for this sandwich shop, and there’s a ton of other stores around to browse after lunch. John’s garden definitely deserves a 5⁄5 in my book!

I love the environment when I get the opportunity to get a bite to eat at John’s Garden. John’s Garden is a store/smoothie/juicing/sandwich & salad shop. It is in the heart of the Malibu shopping Center. I came hear after a little shopping with my girlfriend & picked up the Pane E Il Pollo sandwich. My girlfriend got the caprese The sandwiches always have the freshest ingredients and the menu items combine together well. I loved her Caprese sandwich. Just huge portions and the freshest/crunchiest bread! Just amazing. I also enjoyed my sandwich. I believe this establishment is the best of its niche. The sandwich work well with the Malibu lifestyle & is in the perfect location. It is hard to find any faults. I think maybe it’s priced high but the sandwiches are huge! I think Johns Garden deserves a 5 star rating. It is so hard not come out in this area and not come get a fresh sandwich and soak in the Malibu Rays. The food isn’t special or unique but with the environment, friendly service in the front and everything else. I have to go give Johns Garden the full 5 star rating! :D

Picked up a smoothie here, ordered a REDMAGIC. Tastes great, just like real fruits were blended together. Took a loooong time to get our order, not sure why. Had to ask them twice before it finally arrived. 4 star for great taste and quality, but 3 star for slow service!

This is a very«Malibu» lunch spot, which will make sense to you if you’ve spent any amount of time in the area: it’s a little bit overpriced but that’s okay because the food is good and you assume everything they use here is organic and fresh. John’s Garden mainly does sandwiches and salads but they also have a little shop with chips, candy, drinks, and such to go along with your meal. It can be a little overwhelming when you first walk in with all the options and the huge menu, but I’ve liked everything I’ve tried here so you can’t go wrong! The sandwiches are pretty jam-packed, so definitely expect to get filled up! My favorite cold sandwich is the Surfer/Princess, which has turkey and avocado on it – they really load on the meat and smashed avocado. Be ready to take big bites here! I know a lot of people who really like the Pilgrim as well, but I’m not a huge fan of cranberries. If I’m feeling something toasted, I love getting the Portofino, which is a chicken pesto sandwich with Swiss cheese on focaccia bread. They have gluten-free bread too if you want/need it(shoutout to everyone with Celiac)! Being right in the middle of the Country Mart, there’s plenty of outdoor seating either at the communal tables in front of John’s Garden or at the picnic tables all around the playground area. So, in typical Malibu fashion, you can enjoy your sandwich in the perfect 70 degree weather year-round!

Very nice sandwiches! Portofino and the roman were both very good. Chicken cooked perfectly, not dry. The smoothies are good too!

It’s a simple vegan sandwich but after going on a 5 mile hike around Solstice Canyon, it was the most delicious thing to ever hit my taste buds that day! Located in the Malibu Country Mart, John’s Garden Fresh Health Store offers a lot of healthy snacks. The menu is quite extensive for such a tiny place. There’s even a vegetarian section of the menu. The Vegan Delight sandwich contains a high stack of cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, and alfalfa sprouts. Pumpkins seeds add a nice surprising crunch. Thick layers of hummus is spread on a tasty soft 7-grain bread. I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way for this sandwich but if I was in the area, I would definitely order it again.

Once you’re into Malibu at the Malibu Country Mart… your options are limited. And if it’s an early Saturday morning, some of those options aren’t even open… but either way, let’s talk about John’s Garden. This is both a small shop, they say a health store, but they really have a small variety of lots of snacks and beverages(perfect for going with your sandwich, which you are going to order in the next breath. The menu is huge. See the wall on the back when you walk in as well as the wall by the registers for all the choices. We had the«pane e il pollo» without the veggies — delicious grilled chicken, peppers, and cheese on bread. delish. It is a little pricey, but hey, you’re here already. Take your number, head outside to the tables and wait to be called. Not particularly fast, but then again, the sandwich I ordered was warmed up. Either way, enjoy the people watching, the warmth, and sun-shine and then eat outside and enjoy. Parking is easy — lots and spaces are abound in the Malibu Country Mart.

I come to John’s Garden regularly, and I really like their acai bowls. In my opinion, their acai bowls are better than Sunlife(which I think is overrated) Also, the service is great! When I left my food on the table for a few seconds, I found that a bird was eating my sandwich(Tip: Don’t leave your food unattended. There are many birds!) I was so disappointed, but then they gave me the same sandwich without charge. That was awesome. Plus, they give discounts to Pepperdine students. Score!
