Every time I go in to Burro the employees are very helpful and responsive to my needs! I will definitely continue to go here!

Up in Malibu Country Mart is a piece of Abbot Kinney called Burro. It used to be called Firefly, but I guess the idea of evoking summers spent under the illumination of mystical lightning bugs was too nostalgic, and so now they are calling themselves after a hardworking beast of burden that schleps stuff up mountainous terrain at a really slow pace. Name changes aside, Burro is one of many ubiquitous stationery/gift stores that seem to pop up on every L.A. street corner overnight like mushrooms. You know the kind: stationery from«small letter presses,» with«irreverent, ironic sayings,» because god forbid we have any real sentiment these days, cook books that are less about cooking and more about artisanal fetishes(Modern Preserves, From Nose To Tail: What I Learned From Butchering My Own Hog, Trust Fund Cooking) and whiskey stones. Always whiskey stones. Much like its Venice counterpart, this Burro has the same assorted hand creams, scented candles, art, décor, jewelry and surfer chic clothing for ladies and babies alike. They do have some nice pieces here and there. It’s great for finding a smart gift.
