Rainy, cold day, so yay for ramen! A bonus, if you checkin here you get a free order of edemame. I ordered the large hell ramen, which is basically the spicy version of their house ramen. Now I emphasize, the large is pretty large. I definitely overcompensated on how hungry I was, especially since I had spring rolls from the phở store in the same plaza… it was double the amount of noodles. Speaking of, wasn’t impressed by the noodles. This is my 3rd ramen place in 2 weeks. They were genericly soft, not chewy with that good ramen bite it should have. Reminded of a slightly overcooked instant ramen. The broth was mediocre. Looks like it’ll have lots of miso flavor, but alas. What WAS good, was that it was indeed spicy. My spicy tolerance is pretty high, and I was sweating. The egg was perfectly soft boiled, yolk still runny. Mmmmmmm… the pork was also really tender, flavorful, and fatty. Next time I’ll try out the sushi.

The Ramen is very very good here. The only issue I have is that the types of Ramen are limited but I will not reduce any stars because of that since the taste is very good. I end up ordering from here at least once a month.

How good can food court ramen and sushi be? VERYGOOD. Kakkoii has a ramen + shrimp tempura maki combi that satisfies my soul. Located in the very no-frilled 99 Asian Market — this spot is legitimately delicious. The menu also has a few rice bowl options, which I’ve heard are phenomnomnomenal(see what I did there?) — but I haven’t had a chance to try yet! I can’t quit their ramen. Not too salty — the noodles are always perfectly done. All around a lovely experience. When you’ve stuffed yourself to the gills, take a stroll around the market and load up on your Asian snackies.

I just ordered delivery from Kakkoii for the first time today. It took a little longer than I would have expected in the middle of the day, but I suppose that can’t be helped. The sushi and sashimi were excellent, and the avocado salad was yummy. I docked one star for two reasons: 1) The«buffalo wings» were gross, basically just steamed drumettes with hot sauce. I understand that this is not a specialty of Japanese restaurants, but if you’re going to have it on the menu, why not try to make it good? 2) The crab in the avocado/crab salad seemed like the imitation crab(made out of processed fish). I couldn’t swear that it was ersatz, but the general shape and coloring made me strongly suspect. It was actually yummy, but it’s annoying to call something«crab» if it’s not. Oh, I just checked the menu and it’s «crab stick», which I guess is code for«imitation crab». Ah well. Should have known. If it’s the fake stuff, they should have used more of it than two dinky pieces on top. I’ll order from them again, just not those ghastly wings.

Food isn’t anything special compared to the other ramen places I’ve been to. It is convenient which is a plus. However, for the price and portion size it is not worth it. Every time I’m in this marketplace I often see no business for this fast food establishment. The avg price for a bowl of ramen and a small side, after taxes is around $ 15. For this price I expect to be full but this was not the case and I’m not a fat guy. In my opinion, not worth it for a fast food joint when you have other competitors right next to you offering meals at a reasonable $ 8 – 10 price range. Either lower the price or increase the portion size.

My boyfriend and I were craving for some Ramen but we wanted to go to somewhere new. So we closed our eyes and picked here. Very clean place, no bad smell, people gave very good service and was very nice. Ramen was very interesting and new to us. Noodles weren’t too soggy. The meat was a bit dry but wasn’t too bad to eat. The marinated soft boiled egg was AMAZING. the broth was oily but it didn’t taste overwhelming. I ordered the Heaven Ramen and my boyfriend ordered the Hell Ramen(the hell Ramen wasn’t so spicy but gave a good burn) I would definitely go again! :) Great experience.

My friend and I decided to check this place out since we were too freaking lazy to go all the way to Allston for ramen. Anyways, we ordered two spicy ramen with takoyaki. They messed up our order at first with popcorn chicken. The ramen is alright, let’s break it down… –noodles were ok –soup way to salty –not enough chashu pork(way to dry) –egg(i kinda liked it but my friend said it tasted weird) –corn(probably the only thing we both enjoy) Takoyaki balls: Texture/taste is there but I think the octopus is too hard/chewy popcorn chicken: i only had 1 piece and the taste was overpowering. You might as well drink a cup of water with salt and whatever powder they use in it. overall, I would recommend here if you’re really craving ramen but don’t expect it to taste like pikachi@allston

Takoyaki is pretty good. Ramen is just OK. About spicy ramen, it’s too salty, and the spicy sauce is not yummy at all. The base soup is kinda oily. I’m a vegetable lover, I really expect more things in ramen, like more corns, mushrooms. They also have a spoiled egg in ramen, which is salty and cold. Considering the location and the price, the place is 3 stars. If it’s just about the taste, 2 stars.

Pros: Really good ramen and made-to-order sushi. The prices are very reasonable. The seating area is clean, and the staff is friendly. Cons: It’s in the food court of the 99 Asian Supermarket, which apparently likes to crank up the air conditioning beyond what you’d normally expect for a supermarket. Bring a jacket. Verdict: Worth going back for more.

I created my Unilocal account because I was extremely disappointed with the food here. I ordered the Heaven Ramen and Popcorn Chicken. The noodles were soggy, the broth was ehhh and the chashu pork was flavorless. The ramen I make at home is much more appetizing. The first bite of popcorn chicken was interesting, Only because of the flavor, but every bite after that was gradually worse an worse. The chicken is over seasoned with what I think is either cumin or curry powder. Waste of $ 5 in my opinion. I will not be eating the ramen there again, especially for $ 10. Very disappointing being that I live only 10 minutes away from Kakkoii. I’ll instead drive to H-Mart in Burlington to have the AWESOME pork ramen in the food court there.

Excellent ramen. It is in a Chinese supermarket and the ingredients are fresh. I’d definitely return for another bowl of Hell Ramen!

So far so good. Actually really good. I like my ramen and they didn’t disappoint. Only thing, not food related, is that it’s located inside an Asian Supermarket and there is no sign indicating that it’s inside. Other than that, just awesome.

It’s really good and I been going around to find a Ramen place in my area that’s good. And also, the popcorn chicken and shrimp tempura maki was perfect. It really hit the spot. The service was good as well. Highly recommended.

I give this place 4.5 stars. Their shrimp tempura maki is my favorite and i love the sauce they put on it. I tried their other makis and they are nicely made and delicious. I moved on to their ramen(Heaven Ramen) which has a good soup and properly cooked noodles. It’s all good, but the other ingredients like the egg and bamboo shoots added were served a bit cold and the soup wasn’t that hot, and that the soups are a bit oily, but overall good. Would like to try their rice dishes next time. Overall, Kakkoii serves really great food and I would recommend coming here again for their great food!

Fresh and tasty sushi. Ramen was absolutely delicious. However, the original price for the ramen soup bowl alone was $ 12 something, even though they had lowered the price down to $ 10, but it’s still expensive for such a small bowl which is not enough to fill up my belly. I need 2 bowls of that. I do recommend to get the sushi & ramen combo like I did for a good price of $ 13. I might stop by again if I get hungry when I do groccery shopping there, but for when I’m craving for some ramen soup, I’d definitely go somewhere else.

Husband said the person who took his order didn’t speak English. We tried the ramen so far and not the sushi yet. The ramen was sodium boost! Overly salty. Maybe they are still working on refining the menu. I’ll give them another chance since it was literally their first day when we tried the place out.

It’s cool that Malden is becoming the next chinatown aka quincy. –The ramen was very very oily and fatty. –The sushi was good, I had shrimp tempura. –I LOVE ginger and they put a good amount in there. –Their combo price seems okay — It’s located in a food court at the relatively newly opened Asian Supermarket.
