Heard about this place and decided to take the drive and check it out. So glad we did! Best BBQ I’ve ever tasted. The sides were very tastey as well. The portions were so generous we now have lunch for tomorrow. Worth checking out! Corn bread and ribs were amazing but the briscuit practically melted in my mouth. Used some sauce but didn’t need it at all. Try it mmyou will be glad you did!!!

When you pull up and see the smokers going, you know your food is going to be great! Our food was phenomenal, and the owners were so nice. We had ribs still glistening from the rub and the smoky flavor of the wood, burnt ends that fell apart just right, and a triple threat sandwich with all the meat options. Add in Mac and cheese, coleslaw and the best corn bread ever, I’m not sure if we can finish our drive home! The food definitely lived up to the motto«eat naked», no sauce was needed on the meats! This place is definitely worth a stop, and makes me wish we lived closer!

Family owned and operated by Kelly & Sandy Streeter, this place is BYFAR the best barbecue in the Omaha area if not further. The motto is «eat naked» of which the meat quality is so fantastic you definitely do not need sauce! The sauces they make do all compliment the meat perfectly. I like to go on Fridays to get burnt ends & the smoked bacon wrapped jalapeños, but everyday is fantastic at Lippy’s! Service is impeccable, the food is outstanding & visiting the quaint town of Malcolm is refreshing & so worth the drive. Everything is homemade & you can taste it from the fresh brewed iced tea to the sides of smoky baked beans, excellent mac n cheese, potato casserole like your grandma made & the cornbread that melts in your mouth. Do yourself a favor and go to Lippy’s. Tell them I sent ya!

I made the run out to Malcolm today to give Lippy’s a shot. There is a black steel stick burner sitting outside the door and that was an encouraging sign, as was the limited hours, commitment to serving«naked meat,» as well as their promise to cook fresh everyday. The limited hours seem to confirm their commitment to serve only what is cooked that day. Dinner hours only most of the week. The interior is decorated with kitschy signs, signed guitars, and Blues related pictures. It’s a very nice environment for a small barbecue joint. The staff is friendly as can be, and seems to really be passionate about barbecue. I made my standard barbecue order when I am trying out a new place: pork ribs, brisket, beans, cole slaw. The best item was the ribs. They use a sweet and spicy rub that is not overwhelming. The texture of the meat was textbook perfect. The right amount of chew, tender without falling off the bone. There was smoke, but it was something quite mild, perhaps a fruit wood or a light use of oak or pecan. I didn’t get a chance to ask the owner this time around. The brisket was also tender and juicy. It’s nice to see someone serving brisket from the flat that is not nasty and dried out. With those things said, I am not a fan of how they do their brisket here. They cut the fat off of the flat completely, and there was no bark to speak of. I can’t fault them on the technical aspects of the cooking here, but it’s a stylistic difference that leads me not to enjoy it. Some people would probably find this to be a very nice brisket though. The owner did mention that they do burnt ends on Friday’s, so next time around I will order those burnt ends, I’m guessing that the meat from the re-smoked meat from the point will be more to my liking. The baked beans were nice. The texture suggested they were from a can, but the seasoning was a little spicy, a little sweet, and had an overall savory flavor profile. I would order them again. I didn’t much care for the cole slaw personally. I don’t normally like mine as creamy as they make it, or to have the cabbage cut the way they do. But it did have a nice flavor, and again it was a stylistic preference, not a technical flaw. They also served a very nice piece of corn bread with the meal. I would heartily recommend giving this place a try. I will be coming back to give some other items a go. You might find the style more to your liking. I just appreciate this places apparent commitment to quality.

Great find, great staff(and/or owners?) and great blues music to accompany the well smoke que selections. The ribs we PERFECT and all the meats had a nice smoke ring, were not overpowered and stood on their own(no sauce needed). I also enjoyed my sides. Definitely worth the diversion if you find yourself coming back from Lincoln(or heading) and are hungry.

SOUNBELIEVABLYAMAZING! I’ve had my fare share of bbq in my days and NOTHING compares to LIPPYSs. Just thinking about the way the ribs look when they come out and how thier cornbread is softer than cake. It drives me to come back no matter how far a drive I might have to make!!!

Very good service and the food is amazing. Not your bbq place that needs to slather their meat with tons of sauce to make it taste good. Lippys let’s the seasoned meat stand for itsself. Definitely worth the short drive from Lincoln for some good bbq.

Lippy’s is the raison d’etre for Unilocal.Without Unilocal,we would never have found Lippy’s. We were visiting my daughter in nearby Valparaiso. If you’re familiar with the area, it’s pretty rural and the dining options are limited. It was getting late, we were tired. We were also hungry, but not looking forward to the 30 minute drive to Lincoln to try and find a restaurant. So, I fired up my Unilocal app and saw Lippy’s BBQ was not too far away. So, while we were simply looking for a quick meal, we found a terrific BBQ joint. We tried the combo platter and it was amazing. I discovered that good BBQ does not mean slathering overcooked meat under a sea of sauce. Lippy’s serves its BBQ«naked» — which means you get the taste from the slow-cooked meat and not artificially from some industrially-prepared sauce. Every time we come back to Nebraska, you can be sure a visit to Lippy’s will be one of our«must dos»

I’ve eaten at well over 50 bbq joints across the country in the last 4 years traveling for work. Although they were all very good, lippy’s tops them all. The consistency of their food is always well above par. I would highly suggest the short trip from Lincoln.

Yum! A sweet little place in a teeny town with wonderful smoky juicy BBQ, good blues playing and delicious sides and deserts including the best baked beans I’ve ever had. The strawberry shortcake melts in your mouth and the cornbread is fluffy and delightful. The sauce is pretty unremarkable but honestly I didn’t need it! This place is great!

Don’t let the location fool you, this ain’t no small town BBQ. Ribs have just the right amount of chew(not tough or dry). The brisket is moist and oh so tender. Not entirely sure how they sliced it with out pulling apart. Wish I could have eaten it all, I felt ashamed to put even a forkful of such high quality ‘que in the trash. I don’t think they serve alcohol, but you could probably BYOB. I tried all 3 sauces, but only for the experience. They were all pretty similar, but entirely unneeded. As the slogan says: «Eat Naked» The coleslaw had great flavor and crunch, but maybe a touch heavy on the dressing for my taste. Cheesy potatoes were a little bit greasy and needed some cornflake or Crispix crunchies but I do think I got the last of the pan. Wish I’d known it was Mama’s potato salad, cause who passes on that? Cornbread was pretty sweet and almost cake-like, but plenty moist. Also missed out on bacon wrapped, smoked jalapeño poppers(F/Sa/Su only). If you’re looking for sauce covered jerky, stay with that fatty place. If you want some of the best BBQ anywhere, go to Malcom. You can’t miss Lippy’s by the smoke from the pit out front.

Stopped here for lunch Sunday. We had the pulled pork sandwiches w/mac&cheese and cornbread. The meat had a nice smoke flavor and the bun was soft. The mac&cheese was ok but nothing special and the cornbread was awesome. Order at the counter and they bring it out. Nice people that run this place.

Absolutely the best BBQ I’ve found in NE!!! Now I’m saying this as the type of person that will usually steer away from this fare as I’m disappointed more times than not. We will just say I’m particular about my BBQ and this place down right amazed me!!! I will be back now that they’ve told me the secret of the poppers and burnt ends, but I’m not sharin that with you…

This has been highly recommended to me for quite some time. I made the drive from Omaha to Malcom on a Saturday and found the place easily. It’s a small, cozy and clean eatery decorated with music posters and memorabilia focused on blues music. When you show up you know your meats are smoked and probably pretty fresh as the smoker is out front and when I showed up there was someone manning it. Ordered at the window. Half rack and the potato casserole. My food arrived quickly and looked amazing. They say to «eat naked» here, but offer sauces. The ribs have a fantastic rub on them that is slightly sweet and slightly spicy and super tasty. I did have to try a couple of the sauces though and the sweet and spicy are tasty, but pretty standard fare. They really put the focus on the meat and rubs here. The ribs were thick, and while not fall off the bone(I personally like a little stick to the bones on my ribs)-they were tender, of quality meat and smoked perfectly. The potato casserole was a lot of small diced potatoes in a thick cheesy almost soup mix. They were so good and a bit decadent. The owner made sure everything was good as I headed out and was super friendly. Couldn’t ask for a better dining experience.

Came Friday before Memorial Day weekend and then again Saturday for the BBQ and Blues fest. The food and the bands were both top notch. I tried a little bit of everything, but the ribs and jalapeño poppers were my absolute favorite! The sides were equally as good, I loved the mac and cheese and the potato salad. The sides were all served in styrofoam, but the meat was served in a basket. The owners were very friendly and everyone working the BBQ and Blues Fest were all very nice. I will definitely be back next year for the festivities on MDW and hopefully back before that for some delicious BBQ! This place is definitely worth the drive from Lincoln!

One of the best BBQ places in the area. How good are they? It is not unusual for them to run out of food. Just a few miles outside of Lincoln. My only gripe is I wish they had more«side» items to choose from. Give them a try!

This place has unbelievable food. The owners truly are masters of their craft, as the food never ceases to amaze me on how good this bbq really is. I live in Malcolm and have brought the food on many occasions to people in Lincoln, who all have had nothing but good things to say about this place. Great service from great people. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed. Also is gluten free friendly, for those who need it. My suggestions= Brisket-so-Gouda(this is crazy good!) Chicky-Wow-Wow, Turkey Bacon Club, Ribs, Mac-N-Chees… I guess I could just list the whole menu… Oh and I’ve noticed they now serve their food in baskets, so Tom D. you might be able to bump up your rating a bit Sir… 2 star??? C’mon… Are you aware there is «award winning bbq» served in Kansas City on wax paper… oh the nerve! Unilocal… Stop filtering my reviews… c’mon!
