I’ve been trying to find your stand but can’t find it? Where are you located exactly? 8⁄13 Update 8⁄15 still can’t find this place…

We first found da local banana on Unilocal, but since we were closer to the kihei store location, we stopped by there first. unfortunately, the kihei location is closed!!! luckily we were heading down to the wailea area, so we stopped by the other location. Da Local Banana is located just south of the resorts on wailea alanui drive. I never got the name of the guy at the stand, but he was amazingly sweet and helpful! We got a large coconut for $ 7. the coconut he chose for us was HUGE and the coconut water was delicious. so fresh! We also got a frozen banana covered in chocolate($ 6). we both loved it and enjoyed the conversation. definitely stop by for fresh coconut water, bananas, and a great conversation !! :)

Delicious. Perfect consistency — nice and cold but not so cold it’s hard to eat or hurts your teeth. A lovely treat on a hot beachy day. Chad is kind, gives great local advice on what spots to check out, and was wonderfully knowledgable about the specific local farms that supply his bananas and pineapples. Definitely a splurge at $ 5 or $ 6 a treat, but so worth it!

Ended my road to Hana at a lil shop across the street from a winery w/a DELICIOUS frozen banana dipped in dark chocolate and rolled in peanuts. The very next day, we hung out at Big Beach(Makena) and I’m searching Unilocal to see what kind of food is nearby and THIS food cart popped up on the map. You would have thought I struck gold or something but I couldn’t have been happier. Great guy who genuinely appreaciates your business, he told me so multiple times: D Yes, it’s a bit pricey for a frozen banana but come on, what isn’t?! You’re on an island! I would take one of these over a shaved ice on any given day.

So we were driving to makena beach and passed chad as he greeted us with the local«shaka» hand gesture as most happy go lucky locals do. We returned the gesture and continued on to our destination. On our way out of the beach we passed a stall that was selling ice cold coconuts as well as some wooden sculptures. We pulled over and asked the rather huge warrior looking attendant the price for the coconuts. She told us $ 5 so we decided to stop. As we pulled out the cash and confirmed the cost she then added that the prices are $ 5 for a small coconut, $ 10 for a slightly bigger nut, $ 15 for yet a larger one & $ 20 for a cold one. And let me tell you the small was SMALL. I travel a lot and the biggest turn off of any place is when the locals try to rip off tourists. And I remembered reading online about this particular individual ripping off the tourists and that there was another stall right up the street. And sure enough about 30 yards up the street there was Chad at Da Local Banana. We pulled up and inquired the price and it was $ 7 for the hugest coconut i’ve ever seen($ 5 for a smaller one). Sold! We conversed with chad for a good 15 mins while we indulged in our coconut and not once did he try to cross sell us his specialty — chocolate covered banana. I somehow appreciated that and decided to inquire about this local delicacy anyway. And boy am i happy i did. It was one of the best local desserts we had while we were on the island. Dark chocolate. Peanuts. Sea salt. Gluten free. Heaven. A must have when in maui! Thanks Chad!

A trip to Maui is not complete until I get a chocolate-dipped frozen banana! I can always count on Da Local Banana to come through. Last visit I picked the coconut covered banana and it was awesome! Always looking forward to the next chance I get to swing by Da Local Banana, thanks again guys!

Da Local Banana is da bomb! We stopped in and had two; the Big Kahuna(rolled in peanuts) and one rolled in coconut candy. The owners were there and were really nice. Melissa told us how she came up with the idea, and of course we chatted about Arrested Development(Bluthe Banana Stand). I love that they use vegan chocolate and focus on sustainable, local ingredients. So sad we found them on our last night in Maui, but we’ll visit again when we return!

Just when you think there isn’t a place we don’t already know in Maui, we find this gem through the Unilocal deal. So before we left, I bought one for us to try it out. Since this doesn’t have a permanent location in terms of a standalone store and therefore no guaranteed set days and hours they are in Makena, the Unilocal deal may be a challenge to redeem if you’re just visiting and not staying in So Maui. Both times we had plans in Wailea and Kihei, we tried swinging by only to find an empty spot. Since we were staying in W Maui, it is a good 45 min drive to Makena and therefore not worth another trip down there specifically for this. However, since we missed them twice, Melissa was sweet enough to meet us in W Maui the next time she was making a delivery so we didn’t have to make another trip to Makena. So a couple of days before we left, we finally were able to enjoy our frozen treats(chocolate with peanuts and chocolate with coconut). With a choice of 6 flavors at $ 5 each, you are bound to find one that satisfies you. For those who are staying outside of South Maui, you can now find them in select stores.

This one is a winner! A frozen banana dipped in chocolate & coconut flakes is the perfect snack before a long day at the beach. Sweet, cold, refreshing AND I get my chocolate fix? Love at first bite!

Excellent really frozen banana covered in(I think) DARK chocolate. My daughter and I shared it and it was really good. I’d absolutely stop by again. All she had was the bananas.

Going south on the road from Wailea to Makena in search of the Jawz taco truck, I found Da Local Banana cart, and I am so glad I did! The chocolate dipped banana was absolutely amazing. The ones you find on the mainland are all frozen and tough to eat. These ones are cold, ripe, sweet, soft bananas coated in cold crisp chocolate, absolute perfection! Check out the menu in the picture, and stop by if you can, and buy 5! YUMM Also available is fresh coconut.
