Shorty’s Place

I understand this to be a local favorite. Perhaps I visited on an off day? Or maybe dinner is just where it’s at here.
I went for an impromptu lunch while traveling for work. The place was practically deserted during lunch on a weekday.
They have a buffet-​style line, except you are served the food as you walk along and choose what you want. Everything is cooked on site, and the portions are good. The service was nice, but not overtly friendly.
As for the food itself, it was just OK. My coworker and I both agreed that it was a worthwhile stop, but we probably wouldn’t come back. The chicken tenders were good, and the macaroni and cheese was just slightly below average. The salad was mostly white lettuce without much variety, so no excitement there. It was OK, but not great! Not sure what else to say.
I’m told they have live music in the evenings sometimes, which would be nice if I’m in town for a long work trip.
