Lee Kay Center has a great range for shooting trap and skeet. I haven’t spent time on the other ranges but I’ve spent a lot of time on the trap range. The club house is nice with lots of seating for relaxing and getting out of the heat on a warm day. They serve food sometimes and have a pretty good hamburger. The trap houses are all upgraded with automatic, voice activated throwers. If you want to shoot trap in the Salt Lake Valley Lee Kay Center is the place.

Down here on vacation from Montana and needed some aroma therapy. Had a great time and met some nice people. A lot more«official» range than I’m use too but was a lot of fun nice benches and clean. Wish it opened a little earlier.

Great place to spend a lunch hour. Inexpensive however the hours of operation are lacking. Wish they were open after work! It’s a fun place to go just bring your own gun and ammo & safety wear Happy pigeon(clay) hunting!

There is nothing trivial about gun safety. If I go to dinner, I want polite. Hospital, yup… polite. If I make a mistake at the range I want someone barking in my face. If there is a safety infraction next to me, I don’t want it to be ignored. I’ve been to all of the«sexi-ranges» and 30 years of police ranges. This resource is what it is but don’t ever call it unprofessional or unsafe!

It’s about the only big, wide open outdoor range around this town, so you better get used to it. I’ve never had a problem, but there may be some surly range officers here who are wound up good. I mean, it’s hard to blame them. We’re not talking about a golf driving range. It’s a gun range. With lethal weapons. So they do take it seriously, and I’d much rather hear reports of them taking it too seriously then crazy unsafe stories. There’s actually a lot to be said for being safe. Sure, you can go ahead and push the limits. You can get as close to the edge as possible, as it were. But when we’re talking about your life, your very mortality, it’s probably best to cut things short a few steps and not push things to the very edge of the law, don’tcha think? I’ve shot on both the .22 range and the shotgun area. I like the shotgun setup for trap and skeet. It’s pretty affordable, but be sure to bring a buddy to push the button for you. The facilities are okay. Not sparkling, but they do an okay job of maintaining. I had a part of my hunter’s safety here, too, and the indoor part is also not so sparkly. But it’s gun range, not a wedding venue. Insert shotgun wedding joke here. So that’s my takeaway. Be safe. Stay on the correct side of the rules and you’ll have a good time. Don’t obey the rules(or don’t take time to learn them) and you’ll have a less-than-stellar time at the gun range.

After reading several reviews with some pretty negative comments we were hesitant to go shooting here. Called the office and was pleased to hear a friendly voice and was encouraged enough to make the drive and see how the facilities were. Overall I was impressed. Three range masters covering 40+ stalls was great. They were friendly, helpful and very well organized. I’m sure there are some over enthusiastic range masters but having been on ranges with people that know nothing about safety I welcome the overly cautious. I hope if you visit here and have a good experience you take the time to write a review as we have. Sean & Stephanie

From what I have been able to find this is the only real range in town. Shotguns: They have a nice skeet area setup, if you enjoy skeet then you will enjoy your time at Lee Kay as this is probably one of their best areas. .22’s: They have a little area at the end of the range for .22 plinking. A few tables and a bunch of small steel silhouette targets setup around 25yds and 50yds if I recall. Long Rifles: They have a variety of lanes setup for long rifles(as I recall they do have a few lanes allocated specifically for .22’s) Cost: $ 5 per day for adults which is a pretty normal range fee. Staff: Most the staff is pretty friendly in the office, but once you get out to the range they can be pretty intense and abrupt. Our group was yelled at a few times for things like firing too fast and such but as long as you respond to their requests and stay calm it’s really not a major issue, though I did deduct a star for this as I think they could be better about how they interact with the shooters. Rules: The rules are pretty standard, safety first, always wear ear and eye protection, make sure you are always handling the fire arms safely and they are always pointing down range, actions should always be open and cleared during a cease fire. 22’s are only allowed in the .22 area just to keep 22 shells from making a mess out of the entire range. They also want you to wait at least one second between shots, while I don’t like this rule it is a pretty standard rule on most ranges. Overall it’s a good range with good benches and equipment. There are bathrooms and as I recall a vending machine or two in the main building. I have yet to see a better option in the area, it’s just really too bad they are so far out there or I would go more often. They do offer several classes but I have not been to any of them so I couldn’t say anything specific about how good their classes are. If you want to do some rapid fire and real plinking you may want to consider heading out to the desert, but for a range this is about as good as it gets in the area.

had my first and last experience with this range today. from the moment we were talked to at the front desk, we knew that we had made a mistake driving out to magna. and would have left had we not traveled so far. the militant field range officers, and guys i am all about safety, but be friendly. not all the officers were jerks, but for the most part, very arrogant. shooting guns is a stress relief and is supposed to be enjoyable, taking a hard line and biting someones head off for something trivial is way uncool. you may want to realize you ARENOT the only range in town, use your knowledge and pass it along and be nice to customers. without customers there is no range. your chance with me and my group is now past, we will go somewhere that we are at least greeted like they are glad we came to spend our money. good luck

I cant really judge this place much since I never been to another outside range. There’s a smell outside here sometimes either from the lake or animals. I came here for a class for a conceled arms permit. The class went smoothly and easily. Not much more to say than that.
