If you’re in the Maggie Valley and have some time on your hands, this is without a doubt the best restaurant in the valley. Don’t let the appearance outside or inside influence your judgement. The service and food was some of the best I’ve had any where. It’s a little different than what you might consider what a five star restaurant is, but the food and service is five stars and the prices are reasonable.($ 4 for a bowl of soup and entrees around $ 12 – 20.) It’s this simple people the food was fresh and cooked to perfection and the service was honest and sincere. A true gem in the valley or for that matter anywhere.(Make sure you call and verify hours if they’re open, GO!)

Five for dinner last night. Had fried chicken, stuffed flounder and pan broiled salmon. All very tasty, well presented and service was excellent. I like the linen tablecloths.

Complementary hot rolls melt in your mouth! Chicken fried chicken was excellent. Very fast service for a sit down restaurant. Highly recommend!

Five very solid stars! This rather nondescript from the exterior café opens up to white table cloths and some of the best food we had in or near the Smokey Mountains. When you are seated, you get a basket of warm, tender, slightly sweet rolls. Follow that with homemade soup, salad, or sandwich at lunch. There is also the option of meat and 2⁄3. The sides were also fresh, homemade and quite varied, from pickled beets to broccoli casserole. The sweet potato casserole had a streusel topping and was a cross between a sweet potato and a cobbler, but not cloyingly sweet. I was told that the French Onion Soup was delicious as well. After much success with our lunches, we HAD to have dessert. There is a nice selection of pies and cookies. The pie crust was flaky and frankly my main reason for eating pie, but the pecan filling was very good– maybe a few more choco chips. The coconut cream was fresh, creamy and just-right coconutty. The owner, who is also the baker, is very good at what she does. The location seemed to be more towards the outskirts of town. Do yourself a favor and head on over.

Great specials. Terrific value. This is our fourth trip to the Maggie Valley area and we found the best restaurant here on Soco Road. Great food at a reasonable price is the magic formula that many aspire to but few achieve. It took a local to give us the heads about the Cataloochee Restaurant.

My husband and I ate here for the first time tonight. I had the San Francisco with a salad and it was good. He had shrimp tortellini and he said it was just ok. We waited entirely too long for our food and drinks. We were seated by one person, given drinks by a second person and served food and check by yet a different person. The folks working there were dressed in regular clothes and one woman worker was wearing flip flops which I don’t think is that appropriate for working in a place with food. The people were nice but because the service was so slow I don’t think we will return or recommend it to anyone. I also think the workers need to communicate better and perhaps have one person working a table so there’s less confusion as to if a table has been served or not.

Wow. We visit Maggie Valley every spring and this place is as good as it gets here for dinner. Service, dinners and desserts all outstanding for the money. Great addition to the limited options here.

One of the few 5-star awards I’ve given… and justly deserved for exceptional hospitality and service plus excellent cuisine at very reasonable prices. We came here upon recommendation of hotel clerk. We were blown away. Personable and prompt, warm, friendly greeting. Fresh-out-of-the-oven rolls. And an accommodating chef who, when we asked about splitting a dinner, did not hesitate and did not simply send out an extra empty plate. instead, the chef plated two half portions of a wonderful special of the day… Grilled Chicken with strawberries and drizzled with a balsamic reduction sauce. Wow! Delightful and delectable. We also had a traditional Reuben that was perfect. Not soggy, but hot and crisp with just the right amount of dressing. Accompanied by a bowl of savory and creamy Wild Mushroom Soup, this was a treat. I wish I lived closer because I would be back frequently for this very special dining spot. Oh, by the way, one of our traveling companions fell ill and was unable to come to dinner with us. We asked if the chef could make up a toasted cheese sandwich(not on the menu). Yes, absolutely! And packaged it with warm rolls and soup. These folks are the very, very best!

We ate at this restaurant 3 times during the 6 days we were in Maggie Valley. All 3 times were exquisite! The first time for dinner and the other two times for lunch. Dinner was our first visit. We started with an appetizer of coconut fried shrimp with a marmalade dipping sauce and delicious hot fresh yeast rolls. Incredible! Followed with a cup of french onion soup which was phenomenal. I had a chicken fried pork cutlet with white peppered gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans for dinner. Southern fare at its finest!!! My husband had spicy chicken pasta with andouille sausage. It’s a spicy dish so if you can’t handle heat you might want to see if they can tone it down. My husband enjoys spicy food so the flavors were perfect for him. Lunches were great too! We had chicken fried chicken, cream corn, mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. Prices are great, portions are perfect, service is awesome, and beverages(wine only) were nice size pours! We will be back for sure!!!

Stopped here just before the 2:00 closing time(they close from 2 until 4:30). They have only been open since November so are still learning the tourist season. They had been busier than expected because it was the opening day of the local museum, Wheels Through Time. I had the SanFrancisco sandwich with onion soup and my husband had a Reuben with the vegetable beef soup. All items were delicious. The raspberry sauce with the SanFrancisco was sublime. The space is light and airy, quite lovely and the napkins are linen, not paper. The staff was very welcoming.

Driving by we stopped in to try lunch — nice people and fantastic food. I really don’t think you can go wrong. Desserts are home made and off the chart. Bread was great too.
