Great local park. Good for kids. They have water spouts which is great. I haven’t camped here but it’s a good place for a day out.

Great place for taking photos! As a local photographer, it is one of my go-to spots! Try going during the week when there isn’t a lot of kids. But if you do have kids, its a sweet place to take them to play and just a small fee !

Great place to go camping with the kids. The park is very clean and the park Rangers and the staff are extremely friendly. If you don’t feel like camping you can come and spend the day with. They have two nice play areas for the kids to play and they have a nice picnic area.

I have nothing, nada, zero, zilch bad to say about this beautiful state park. When it comes down to it… I just can’t even pretend. I’m a big olé tree hugger. I love beaches, lakes, oceans, woods, forests, mountains, caves… I love seeing animals in their natural habitats and all that jazz. :) This little state park is small but way cool. It’s $ 2 per person to enter and it’s totally worth it. There are a couple of playgrounds for the kiddies. There is a wonderful trail that’s wooded and just oh so peaceful. Walk along the trail and marvel at the cypress trees growing in the Tchefuncte River. Listen to the birds singing. Money can not buy the tranquil feeling you’ll experience here. This is what it’s all about. I’m a huge fan. I think you’ll love it just as much as I do.

Peaceful and quiet. Not a hiker’s paradise but is an excellent spot for an afternoon picnic or stroll. The camping facilities were very clean and the park offered wifi. You can also tie a boat off in the Bayou. Fyi: Even though Otis house is closed the park is still worth a visit.

Really a nice state camp ground. Check in is a little slow, especially if there are car(s) in front of you. It is nestled in the Tchefuncte River. There are hot showers, clean bathrooms and a washer/dryer for campers. Fishing was excellent, minnows attract needlefish, and hotdogs are the best for the catfish(and the catfish there are HUGE!). We were tent camping but got the electric hook ups. Free wireless, but it blocks you from an ‘social networking’ sites, including LinkedIn.

Fairview Riverside is one of the smaller state parks, but it is worth visiting. Located on the Tchefuncte River, the park offers some of the most beautiful views in the area. The park has camping areas that are small compared to nearby Fontainebleau, but they are adequate. There is a very nice pavilion available for rent that would be perfect for a kids party or a crayfish boil. The kids play area is small, but nice. There are actually two play areas. One is near the pavilion with the other by the camping area. There is a large house that was available for tours, but it is still under renovation due to hurricane damage. Day use fees are one dollar per passenger with kids under 3 free. The park is near both Madisonville and Mandeville, so if you’re in the area, you should check it out.

I cannot comment on the camping facilities since I have not camped overnight here. Along with Fontainbleau, this is one of the better state parks in the state of Louisiana. Nestled along the banks of the Tchefuncte River, the setting of the park is really nice. there’s a nice pier that allows visitors to fish and crab from. If you like nature walks, there is also a ¼ mile nature trail located on the park property. There are many picnic tables for day use and bbq grills are also available if you would to cook up some grub. On my last visit, the Otis House was closed for tours. They are currently renovating parts of it. If you have kids, there’s a playground area close to the Otis House that I can never leave without my kids insisting we visit. Be warned, your kids will be tired and sleepy once you let them play for an hour or so on the equipment. I really like the great tree cover in the park. It allows you to throw a blanket on the ground and just relax while the kids play or just catch a few z’s when no one is looking. My family usually visits here a few times each year. The pier I was talking about earlier, it also makes for a great backdrop when taking pictures. Especially during sunset. The staff is very helpful and polite. They will answer any questions you may have.
