I’m a big fan of Pawn Shops. There really is no telling what you might come across at a place like this, and, while it’s a bit sad to think you might be buying an item someone pawned to pay for their cousin’s bail money, they typically have neat stuff. Toliver’s isn’t particularly impressive or large, but they have a decent selection of random items. Their variety of musical equipment is pretty weak – just a handful of Yamaha and Ibanez guitars and basses, a few small amps and some slightly overpriced mics. I definitely didn’t see electronics that caught my attention, though they had some used video games and a couple of consoles. As you might expect, Toliver’s has a display cabinet full of handguns(all with trigger locks), but I didn’t exactly feel compelled to browse their prices. I did, however, look through their VERY low-priced DVD selection. I bought a copy of «Bobby» and a copy of «Zodiac» for $ 4 a piece, and those are both relatively recent releases. Most of their DVDs(and VHS) are blockbuster type films, but they’re all pretty cheap. Toliver’s also has an enormous selection of baseball and trading cards of all kinds. Certainly the biggest selection I’ve ever come across in a pawn shop – I mean piles and piles of individual and packed baseball cards. If you’re a trading card person, this is a place you should definitely check out. Without a doubt. Otherwise, it’s basically on par with most other pawn shops.
