My experience with Colie was just so-​so. Found her via the naturallycurly site but am puzzled by the 5 star reviews. The haircut itself was fine, if a bit conservative. It’s the rest of the experience that was meh. During the shampoo/​condition there was a lot of yanking knots and running fingers through my hair — hello, you cannot run fingers through curly hair without it HURTING. My scalp hurt for the rest of the day! She is supposed to be super experienced with curly hair, but after the cut, she barely styled my hair at all except for dumping tons of product in and then only half-​blowdrying it so it just looked unfinished. I could have styled it better with my eyes closed. It kind felt like she was «phoning it in» — another client came during my cut so maybe she was trying to rush, like she didn’t block enough time. I also really disliked her constantly trying to upsell me on extra products and services. Not likely to return.

I found Colie five years ago when I was searching for a curly hair specialist in the Madison area. I have been a loyal customer of Colie’s ever since. I’m always blown away by Colie’s amazing color skills. She transforms my hair into a soft, natural blonde each time I’m in her chair. I often get compliments on my color and how natural it looks. Colie is so easy to talk to and truly cares about each of her clients. She is very professional and extremely talented. I completely trust her with my hair. Highly recommend!

I have always been very picky when it comes to my hair. It’s hard to find a really good hairstylist. I moved to Madison almost two years ago and a relative recommend Rik Rak and it’s been a love love relationship. Great Place!

Colie has really turned my hair around and helped me to love my curls again. She seems to be able to read my mind and get my hair to do exactly what I want.
She also did my wedding hair (blonde curls pictured in photos). She was on time, well prepared, efficient, supportive, and gave me my best hair day for my wedding– what more could a bride ask for!

I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy and not much into trends or fashion so when it came to hair and make-​up I didn’t care much. I like to switch it up from time to time though because I do get bored with the same length and color but I had a hard time finding someone I could trust to chop my hair and play around with color. THEN I met Cholie and now I will never go anywhere else! She is the only person I trust with my hair and trying different looks and she has such great ideas on how to style it too! I can’t wait till she does hair for my wedding!

I was definitely apprehensive about my first experience with bikini waxing. I have been shaving for years but decided that I was getting tired of having to shave so often. I found Rik Rak Studio while searching on Google and set up an appointment with Colie. In the meantime, I kept hearing that the first time waxing would be painful so I thought about canceling on several occasions. When I arrived, Colie was so inviting and friendly and I felt comfortable in letting her know I was a bit scared of the pain. I even confided in her about my modesty. Colie made me feel comfortable right away and reassured me that I could proceed at my pace. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to tolerate it and by the end of it all I found myself just chatting away and feeling as comfortable as if i had been waxing for years. I left knowing that I would continue to wax. Good bye razor! I would definitely go out on a limb and say that I believe that that Colie is one of the best in terms of her expertise.

I was pleasantly surprised as I arrived Colie’s studio for the first time and was greeted by her welcoming and friendly smile at her door.
I came for waxing which can cause reasonable anticipation upon the initial visit. Within moments her confident and uplifting demeanor removed whatever nervousness I had.
We spoke for a bit confirming what I was interested in to make sure we were on the same page. She also explained the type of wax she would use and how it worked in comparison to others.
Her technique and skill is a testament to her experience and validates her well earned confidence.
She is very flexible and accommodating as well. We ran out of time to finish everything (which was my fault as I asked for additional work when I realized how good she was). Realizing this, she gave me options for times to return, and we confirmed a window the same day!
I do not live in Madison and am only visiting family here, but I WILL be returning to her every time I come visit. And if I could pack her up and take her with me, I would. Lol! It is not easy to find a quality wax artist while traveling. :-)
I also established an appointment with her tomorrow for a hair cut/​styling.

Amazing experience today! I came in feeling old and frumpy, and left as a new woman! I love when an experienced stylist tells you exactly the look and color for you. I listened and I am so thankful! I feel like a new woman! You have to give this place a try! You will not regret it. It was like a combination of a learning experience, fun, neck massage and great conversation all rolled into one. I am so thankful I met Colie! :o)

and some luck, my hair and I found Colie. I have been seeing her for a few years now and my hair is healthier, happier, and better than ever! I get compliments on it all the time and stopped by other curly haired gals to ask what products I use and how my curls look so good. The real answer: it’s an awesome cut first and foremost! it takes a skilled and knowledgeable hair stylist to handle my long mane of springy curls, and Colie is the hair stylist I would even follow over to the west side of madison for (and have!). No matter where she goes, my curls will follow. You will never end up with the dreaded «tent» or «mushroom» style us curly folks worry about. And on top of that, she is SO good with color! on curls! Colie is so good at listening to what you want, knowing what you need, learning about who you are as a person and she blends all of that into a perfect final result. If you are worried about cheating on your current stylist or trying someone new… don’t! it will be more than worth it! And her new space is awesome!
