McGovern & Sons – Benjamin Moore & Hunter Douglass

I used McGovern & Sons for the first time recently. I couldn’t be happier with my experience. Terry was extremely helpful and took time to answer all of my questions and offered tips that would helped with my project. They turned my large order around within 24 hours and did an amazing job matching my requested non Benjamin Moore colors. McGovern & Sons is a first-​rate store with 5-​star products. They have earned my future business and will receive an enthusiastic referral from me.

Love, love, love the paint. I haven’t tried the Aura (Benjamin Moore’s top-​of-​the-​line paint) but the Regal Select goes only smoothly, dries quickly, and, in my experience, covers in just one coat. I’ve done both light-​over-​dark and dark-​over-​light and gotten perfect 1-​coat coverage. Huge time saver.
The store is very nice and has a great little kids’ play area. They also sell wallpaper and Hunter Douglas blinds and roman shades.
I’ve been here several times now, and my experience with the customer service is generally similar to what the other reviewers describe, although I guess I didn’t find it awful, just sort of weird and off-​putting. The staff seem like nice people and aren’t rude or necessarily unfriendly, I guess. But it’s definitely not what you’d expect for a small, family-​owned shop. It often feels like they are inconvenienced by my business. When I have a question, I have to go find a staff member, and end up getting a short, often unsatisfying answer. They’re knowledgable but extracting that knowledge isn’t easy. Even if you’re the only customer in the store, they just seem uninterested in expending any energy educating you about their products or walking you through making the right decision. You’ll be on your own here, folks. But once you figure out what to buy, the product itself is fantastic. It’s a shame, because with a better atmosphere, this place could be an amazing resource.

I typically like use Benjamin Moore products. this is my first time at this location. What a horrible experience. The staff there are unfriendly and unhelpful. I felt like I was inconveniencing them by being there, and asking them questions. I still purchased my paint from this location because of time constraints I faced, however my next purchase will be from Sherman Williams down the road.

I was very disappointed with my experience at Benjamin Moore-​McGovern and Sons. I came to this store as it was near my home and I was hoping to get true paint expertise for an outdoor painting project.
Getting assistance from one of the two individuals working at the store was like pulling teeth. I was not greeted, and spent about 10 minutes staring at different paint options until I realized I was going to have to track down help. Once I requested assistance, responses were curt and vague, despite the fact that I clearly had no idea what I needed. The experience can be summarized as myself asking a specific question, receiving a vague response, myself trying to put the pieces together, to only have to ask another question. This went on for far too long. During this time one of the employees was having a personal conversation on her cell phone, rubbing salt in the wound.
FINALLY I was able to get what I (think) I needed for my project. Upon leaving the store I realized that I should have left within 10 minutes, and I regret purchasing paint products from the store.
I am not an individual who expects red carpet treatment. I simply hoped for a nice, helpful employee to guide my purchase. Instead, I was brushed aside and left very unhappy.
