I am new in town so I can’t really rate this park against others. But my son and I came here last winter(snow fall) and had a blast. There was hockey going, ice skating, cross country skiing, and sliding — which is what we came for. The hill is wide, some what large and fast enough every kid of every age will enjoy. This park offer quite a lot. There looked like it had courts for basket ball. I assume the ski trails are hiking trails during the summer months. I use the hill(during non-snow days) for training(running).

Elver is a fun place to check out most times of the year, for various reasons. In the winter it’s good for plenty of cold weather activities, like ice skating in a rink, sledding down one of the steeper hills Madison has to offer, and has trails of varying difficulties for Cross Country Skiing. Don’t have ice skates? Rent ‘em for $ 5 – 6 an hour! Don’t have skis? Rent ‘em for $ 9 an hour! Don’t have a sled? Can’t rent those here, but they’re cheap anyway. In the warmer weather, they have basketball courts, base/softball diamonds, and my favorite is the disc golf course. However, note that if you’re new to disc golf that this course is more difficult than the one on the east side due to increased amounts of hills, narrow pathways, and obstacles on the paths. Also, the trails used for Cross Country Skiing in the winter can now be used for nature walks or scenic runs. Overall, Elver’s one of my favorite Madison parks, and I make trips to it every once in awhile despite its distance from my location.
