Cargo Coffee

I was visiting from out of town and decided to try a local coffee joint. I was going back and forth between Cargo and Lakeside — I made the right choice with Cargo! I walked into an eclectic/​map decorated shop that smelled of rich roasted beans. I ordered the house brew, the coconut latte, and the Samoa latte. Oh, and I had to take a bag of their beans home!
Shout out to the wonderful staff that works there! I love the Ethiopian coffee you recommended AND they recommended I visit Jennifer Street Market (fantastic little grocery store) and buy some Hooks aged cheese (this cheese blew my mind!)
Overall, great experience, great coffee, and wonderful staff!!!

Just went for the first time this afternoon! A fun, neat space with different seating sections, friendly helpful staff, and I think the prices are pretty good. Friend got the latte of the day (think it was pumpkin spice?), and said it was great. I got the apricot tea, and it looked like the bag was homemade. A nice subtle floral-​ish flavor. I think I found a new place to unwind during my lunch break!

Drive thru! Punch Cards! Almond Milk! And close to home make this a great place to go for me. Nice seating inside and out! I love the smell of roasting coffee every once in awhile in the neighborhood from them. Great goodies to munch on too if you are hungry.

I absolutely love Cargo coffee. I’ve always gotten great service and great coffee when I’ve been here.
The atmosphere is great if you’d like to stay inside and drink your coffee and have breakfast.
I always get a coconut latte with and extra shot of espresso to get me through my day.
I also recommend the cowgirl cookies! They are enough to fill you up and even vegan.

I would rather go here for coffee over Starbucks.

Stopped here for a quick coffee before heading out of town a few days ago.

+ I both like and dislike the interior space

— Feels cold and sterile
— Chairs are quite wobbly
+ I like the divided seating areas/​rooms

Cargo gets a solid 3 stars and an occasional 4^th star. Service is generally pretty good and the Coffee is consist. Grabbed a Chix Wrap today — solidly OK, a bit bland, but the service was good. If you are in the Park Street neighborhood, this is the go to local coffee joint.

Cute place that has a HUGE variety of loose black/​green/​other teas in addition to fresh coffee. The store is very small but has a drive through and a few seats inside. They also have some fresh pastries and cookies that looked appetizing. The service was friendly although the guy behind the counter knew very little about the teas that he was actually selling. Nice alternative to the chain coffee houses and definately less expensive.

I’ve been through the drive thru several times. The girls there are very friendly. I like the girl with the outer space pants that always tells me to «have a beautiful day». Looking forward to checking out the inside, perhaps this summer.

First time and did the drive through. Only problem was getting around the food supply truck :) Order taker was super nice and the barista was great too! Super yummy latte!

This place is just delightful. My coworker and I get lunch here almost weekly. Unique Build your own sandwich or wrap with fresh quality ingredients at an extremely reasonable prices. They’re a smaller operation, open early in the morning through the lunch hours. Though a small space, they have a wide range of different teas and coffee drinks to suit your liking. I usually use the drive thru and always are greeted with a smile. :D

The friendliest baristas in Madison — and great coffee too! The Tiramisu latte is on point.

I visited Cargo Coffee for the first time during the Savor South Madison Taste Race and enjoyed the experience. I ordered an Atomic roast and I would rate it on par with Colectivo Coffee (and that is a good thing).
Things I liked:
* Free wi-​fi, which coupled with the powerful Atomic Roast provided for an extremely productive afternoon
* Small but delicious selection of bagels and pastries
* Outdoor seating
* Drive through window
* The pleasant, efficient staff thoroughly explained the different blends offered that day to this appreciative first time visitor. They also have a great rapport with the many regular customers that filed through the shop over the course of the afternoon.
Things I didn’t:
* The interior of Cargo Coffee is a tad on the Spartan side. While I give them credit for converting a former Jiffy Lube oil change building into a coffee shop, the tile floors and small, wooden chairs are not the most inviting for an extended stay.
I definitely plan to return when I am in the area. The quality of the coffee and the friendliness of the staff more than overcome the austere setting.

The very reason for us to come here initially was due to our curiosity. Every time we are done shopping at Copps at around 6 or 7 pm, we always pass this local empty coffee shop. We can’t help but to compare with Barriques that still has many customers.
So, we dared to give it a try on one weekend. There, we learned that they only open until 5 pm.
We ordered their tuna sandwich and love it! Since then, this place is becoming one of our favorite sanctuaries to read and study.

Good service and a decent latte.

The staff are efficient and friendly. They could use an upgrade to their chairs and tables, not the most comfortable setting. Nice place to meet someone for a quick chat. In the winter — the place can be a little too cold to sit and enjoy a leisurely lunch. I don’t drink coffee, but the sandwiches and soup are a-​1.

Best roast in Madison. Service is friendly and quick. I stop every chance I get for this local business.

I love this coffee! I make a point to stop for beans when I visit Madison. My favorite is their Atomic roast. Dark and dreamy. Staff is very friendly and helpful with suggestions on the current selections. I’ve only eaten the desserts, which are tasty. Nice and close to Copps across the street if you have shopping.

Fast service at the drive through, very good coffee. Support local businesses instead of chains and drop in at Cargo Coffee! I always go through this place in the morning when I am in Madison on business.
