Great atmosphere, great music, friendly staff, good food. Definitely worth going to again. Great find in Madison.

I usually remember BBQ Restaurants by their sides. You know what that means their meat sucks. Not in this case. The catfish was GREAT. Super fresh and the nasty vane was removed. Not fishy taste at all. Great batter and served very hot. Also the ribs were good as well. Good hickory smoked flavor. They could have been spiced a little more. The sauce had a little heat and good tang to it. The only sides worth mentioning were the beans. The were good and could pass for Bushes and the stew was very good. I even got a pint to take home to the misses. All in all a good experience for lunch with my daughter. The management came by twice to check on us. The box car kitchen was cool too.

Sorry not my taste in Bbq. Rather have gone to Sonnys instead. Canned greens and baked beans. Cold meat. Owner came out to speak nice man Everyone was friendly. Once was enough.

The best thing here? The iced glass for my beer. That is it. Over — hyped, «BBQ.» Notice the quotes around BBQ. Either this place used to be good and it has gone majorly downhill –OR — people who have eaten here don’t know what good ‘cue is. Pulled pork was barely smoked and oily, ribs were over — charred and dry. Macaroni and cheese had separated into a pool of oil/melted butter and noodles with curdled cheese, baked beans were out of a can, French fries were crinkle fries straight outta the bag. The kitchen staff brings some food out of the kitchen but he majority of it is kept on a hot bar in the back of the restaurant and the kitchen staff fills plates from it. WHATTHE? Shame on this place, really. We are huge BBQ fans and this place was sorely disappointing.

This place is awesome! Each of us had the brisket and it was some of the best we’ve had… even compared to TX! On our way to The Masters and couldn’t have started the trip on a better note.

This was my first bbq since moving down South and it was great! I had the fried okra and the Philly style beef brisket sandwich which was delicious and the best bbq sauce I ever had! Left one star off because the restaurant is understaffed so it was slow and they forgot about us and got the drink order wrong(although they were nice).

Today my wife and I went out on a motorcycle ride and stopped in Madison. I did a quick Unilocal search and found Big Kev, s you will not be disappointed. I had the pork plate with mac & cheese, baked beans and Texas toast. The wife had beef brisket, Brunswick stew and cole slaw. The pulled pork was hot and cooked perfectly the mac and cheese and baked beans are homemade. The baked beans have a little kick and the coleslaw is a little sweet which is a perfect combination, the barbecue sauce also has a little kick to it it was probably one of the best sauces Ive had in awhile. Wait staff was super friendly checked on his every couple of times till our meal came and checked on us a couple of times during the meal just to make sure we were satisfied. The owner was there and after our meal even spoke with us for a few minutes The Experience left us with a good feeling we’ll be back for sure and I highly recommend it. The prices aren’t too bad either two people with drinks 25 bucks

My husband and I ate here driving back home from Athens. A very fun energetic atmosphere with some DELICIOUSBBQ! Even the sauce was great! We got several sides(macaroni and cheese, collard greens, Brunswick stew) and they did not disappoint. The service was fantastic as well. So glad we found this place. Definitely will stop by again when we are going back to Athens.

We picked this location off the interstate due to other Unilocalers. The place is adorable! We had great service and it’s very clean. Highly recommend the chicken, Mac and cheese and fried okra. Prices are good. Sauce was tangy and not too spicy! Mmmm

While visiting Madison city there were few spots as well recommended as Big Kev’s BBQ so I had to stop by and give them a try. — Fantastic customer service — Great atmosphere — Smell the smoker in the parking lot — Small to medium space — Few parking spots When you think of BBQ in the South, I’m sure you drool as much as I do if you can smell the smoked meat before you even get inside the restaurant. All I could think about was brisket. It was immediate from the start that the server really cared about customer service, and that was maintained throughout the entire dining experience. From making sure the food was all right, to filling drinks with a smile, I really felt taken care of. I ordered the large Philly style beef brisket($ 8.95) that comes with a tender and juicy smoked brisket cooked for 14 hours. Served with a hickory smoked BBQ sauce, grilled onions, peppers, and provolone cheese. I should have just ordered the beef brisket by itself, as I feel the onions, pepper, and cheese really took away from how smoky, juicy and full of flavor the brisket was. Just stick to the basics! My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich($ 6.95) that comes with tender, hand pulled smoked pork served with a house BBQ sauce. The pulled pork was not very pulled, and instead came in big chunks like sliced chicken. It may have worked good for the sandwich but was not what was expected, although he did have some good smoked flavor. Overall not the best pulled pork in my opinion. Based on customer service alone I may give them another chance but I think I would just stick with the beef brisket in the future.

The ribs were fantastic. The rub was slightly peppery for me but they were cooked perfectly. The BBQ sauce was also very good. The collard greens and baked beans were both very good. We wanted to try the brisket, unfortunately they ran out just as we arrived. We will have to come back and try the brisket next time. The only thing I would skip is the Mac and cheese, it was not great.

Words are inadequate, but I shall endeavor to use appropriate language. I travel all over the US and have had bar-b-que all over. Typically a fan of Kansas City and Texas style. I am impressed! I’m a no sauce fan. Sauce covers mistakes or inadequacy. This place needs no sauce. The spare ribs were the biggest serving I’ve had. Wonderful!

We planned to eat lunch here on our way to the UGA game. It is in a great location on the way to Athens. I am glad we got there early because it was starting to fill up as we left. Between us we got to try the ribs, pulled pork, brisket, collards, mac n cheese, fried okra and the baked beans. I would say the best were the ribs and the fried okra. The toast is better than the corn bread and we were too full to have dessert. Everyone was very friendly and they have a fantastic selection of beers. I would visit again and so glad we got to try Big Kev’s.

As we were rolling down I-20 the other day, my wife expressed a hankering for BBQ so I pulled up Unilocal and found we were only one exit away from Madison and Big Kev’s. We liked everything about this place, from the friendly staff to the blues on the sound system. And oh yeah, the food. I had the 5 oz pulled pork plate(sauce on the side), mac and cheese and brunswick stew. All excellent, meat was juicy and a good portion, the mac and cheese was like momma used to make. They had a good selection of Georgia craft beers, along with a full menu including catfish, which I will try on my next trip back. A very welcoming place that seemed to cater to locals and tourists alike. Not too far off the interstate if you’re travelling, so give it a try.

Okay, the atmosphere is perfect. Great building, friendly staff, blues on the Hifi. Food is great. Well worth the time it took from 20W. Just off the exit, you can get the standards, but another few miles will be an experience.

Just left Big Kev’s BBQ. From the moment you walk in you get the real feel of an old school bbq joint. Food was hands down AMAZING!!! I had the brisket, Mac, and stew. The meat was tender, not over seasoned but had lots of flavor, also had the perfect amount of lean to fat ratio. The Mac and cheese prob some of the best I’ve ever had, the stew was really good also a little salt and hot sauce made it complete. I see myself coming here more often after my first visit.

We went here for dinner on a Sunday around. 5pm. It was hot inside the place… think the air conditioning might be out. The Blues music and bbq nostalgia was a nice touch and they had some great items on the menu. My husband loved the sweet tea and we both loved the smells coming from the kitchen. The food was killer, so delicious. We loved all of it. My reason for the four stars though is the lack of air conditioning. I started to swear in the place.

WHAT A FIND. I am a cross country driver and I sample bbq’s on a weekly basis. I have been to all the top names in bbq’s. Blacks(texas), Pappys smokehouse(StLouis), Dreamland(Alabama). Plus many more. Kevs is right up there. I had the 3 meat Ribs, Brisket, pulled pork. Collard greens and brunswick stew. Everything was outstanding. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the staff was outstanding and very attentive. I WILLBEBACK. ITSWORTHTHETRIP.

Ran across this bbq gem on a day trip to Madison. Both got the combo plates. Plenty of food too! Brisket was amazing. Ribs and pork were great too. Collards were divine. Oh, a must have are the fried pickles with their special dipping sauce!

This place is a total hidden gem! Don’t let the outside fool you, Big Kev’s is warm and friendly on the inside, with the best BBQ you’ll find! Start with the homemade meat skins, with house hot sauce. They’re brought to your table still popping from the hot oil. Best pig skins you’ll have had, bar none! Next comes the BBQ, of course. With so many different entrees to choose from, it can be overwhelming. Take my advice: you can NOT go wrong with anything on this menu. That being said, the ribs are to die for. So tender, they simply fall apart trying to pick one up. Even the BONES are tender, if that tells you anything. And the meat is just saturated with that fresh smoked flavor. The Brunswick stew is also the best I’ve ever had. It’s thick, flavorful and absolutely full of fresh shredded pulled pork. All sides are house made and perfectly seasoned; even the fries are superior! If you’re in town and craving BBQ, look no further. The staff are attentive and friendly, and your drinks will never be empty. I’ll add that the sweet tea is perfection. Definitely worth a visit, or should I say, multiple!
