I had a wonderful experience with ASAP Urgent Care in Madison on Monday. We are fairly new to the area and haven’t chosen a primary care physician, so I decided to go to the urgent care center as I was feeling very sick. Upon my arrival, I was greeted in a very friendly manner by the receptionist. They even offered me coffee, water or tea as I filled out some paperwork. I was quickly taken in the back after my paperwork was filled out and was seen by the doctor no more than 5 minutes after being walked in. I saw Dr. Bollard and she was very thorough, knowledgable and empathetic. Just after looking at me, she knew how sick I was. They performed a strep test and flu test and I found out the results within 10 – 15 minutes. She prescribed me some antibiotics and even gave some additional suggestions for some natural remedies. I would highly recommend this Urgent Care center. It was very clean, the staff was very friendly, thorough and efficient.

I was hoping this was going to be a great asset to the town, however I would NOT recommend it. I went in early for a minor issue and was the only patient there. While I was warmly greeted by a young woman at the desk, my impression went downhill from there. The nurse took me into the back for vitals and medication information. She was not interested in the dosages of medications nor over the counter supplements I take; which is worrisome as some interact with medication the PA/MD might prescribe. As a larger person with newly diagnosed hypertension, I suggested she use the large cuff to take my blood pressure for an accurate reading, but she insisted it was fine for her to use the regular cuff and hold onto it so it did not open. INNOWAY is that a safe practice and could jeopardize a patient’s treatment and life. We passed the PA on our way to an exam room as he sat reading a magazine. He did not look up and acknowledge us and I waited 10 minutes in the exam room for him to come in. My impression was he wanted to be anywhere but in the office that day. Sorry, ASAP but not impressed and as a local healthcare professional, I will be referring patients to other facilities where I am more comfortable with the quality of care they will receive. I have been happy with Stony Creek in the past and will check out Madison’s newest urgent care provider, Middlesex Hospital’s new satellite, before ever sending a patient at ASAP.

On my first visit I was seen by the director, a medical doctor. Exam was quick, medication was prescribed and I was on my way. A few days later, I received a follow-up call and when I reported not being any better, the«phone» was given to the physician assistant on duty. After a lengthy conversation with him, I decided to be seen again .This time my exam was more comprehensive and considerable time was given to explaining the problem and possible complications that could arise. New medication was prescribed. As requested, after following the new course of treatment, I called the center to speak to the PA and report on progress. Although I eventually made an appointment with a specialist, I was told by him that the care I was given and the medication prescribed was«correct.» The center is new, clean, and the staff is friendly, polite and accommodating. Parking is not a problem as the facility is located in a neighborhood shopping center. A problem, if one had to wait a considerable time in cold weather, is that the bank of windows in the front, make the waiting area cold. Would I return — absolutely! Would I recommend ASAP Urgent Care to friends — I already have!
