This restaurant is so nice inside, and now the food is also as good as the décor. We ordered chicken and rice(#42) and bun bo hue. The bun bo hue tasted as if it was cooked for over 10hrs the broth was so rich! The chicken came out beautiful and was marinated to the bone! I will definitely come back here again. The bo la lot was also a very good dish done up so you don’t have to assemble it, just dip and eat.

Went looking for a phở resto after a long night of drinking. I came in on a Sunday and it was completely dead. All of the phở restaurants were packed and I didn’t want to have to wait that long so I figured I would give this place a try. Let me start off the décor is very nice inside. It’s clean and comfortable. They had 3 waitresses and in my opinion they seemed like they distracted each other. They were either watching tv or on their phones and that really annoyed me because there were no other table but us, so I expected service to be better. The prices are a bit higher compared to other asian restaurants. The prices for appetizers were $ 6 – 7.50 and main entrees were $ 9 and up. This didn’t really bother me bc in my opinion it’s still pretty reasonable, just a heads up so you know how much you will be paying. Now let’s get to the food. The food was okayyyy. We started off with the spicy squid, coconut encrusted shrimp with mango sauce, and the raw beef larb.(I forgot the name) The calamari and coconut shrimp were good. It was just fried, nothing too special. The spicy squid was actually just calamari rings with spicy mayo. Not what you would expect when you hear spicy squid. The coconut encrusted shrimp was good but the mango sauce was nothing to go crazy for. The raw beef larb was pretty good. Never had it like that before so it was interesting. Main entrees we had phở! Not gonna lie, I came in with a headache so I can’t tell you if the broth had a lot of msg in it. But the broth was good. If I’m comparing it to my usual phở place, does not come close, but it was better than a bowl of msg from the phở place next door to here. I ordered #20 and i was really disappointed that it had one hard chunk of tendon at the bottom of my bowl. They gave a good amount of beef brisket. Few tripe, probably one meatball cut up to a few pieces and that hard tendon was a major let down. I took a bite and said, «oh hawl naww…» If you own a phở restaurant, don’t put tendon on the menu if you don’t know how to cook it. My husband and dad had the ox tail phở which is #25 and they were expecting more ox tail than just one piece. All in all, will I be back? For phở, maybe not. I’ll stick to my usual place. But I might come back to try their other items on the menu.

Really good phở– I had the beef tenderloin and meatball phở(#26) it had good flavor(not sure if there was msg tho) and it was very filling. Good price for the size($ 8.50). My dad got the shrimp fried rice($ 11.99) and it was good as well– got cold pretty fast though and was kind of oily. We went and the place was empty– the waitress said it’s normally pretty busy tho… good service :)

Hubby and I have been here several times the past year, all disappointed but we come back because you guys seem nice. Despite the very disappointing shaking beef we had last time which I forgot to take a picture, we came back today to order a number 97 to go. After we got home(like 30 mins away), I found out that there’s no sauce inside. Too bad I like some of your dishes but I can’t get past the thought of being let down again, so I will be careful if I ever come back.

Quite honestly, we came in for lunch because of a coupon; and I’m glad we did. Usually we try new places that have an average rating of 4+ and more like 100 reviews. But we were interested after reading some of the more recent reviews that were complimentary, and given the cold weather today, and that we will bend the rules for coupons. The restaurant itself has a nice décor and is inviting. Normally for our first visit at a Vietnamese restaurant we order Chicken Phở(#31) and my wife did that. We would normally also try the Fresh Rolls(shrimp, pork, noodles, mint, etc) but because the coupon was for entrees I ordered Mien Ga(#36) that was similar to my wife’s order but with the clear(glass) noodles instead. Broth for both was excellent and the noodles were perfect as were the fresh sides of basil, bean sprouts, hot peppers, etc. The only reason that kept me from giving 5 stars was that the chicken was slightly chewy/dry, but still quite good. Service was prompt and and polite. We will definitely be back to try other items from their menu.

The restaurant is much bigger than it looks from the outside. They can accommodate many more people than I thought compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. What they gain there they fall a little short on portion size and presentation on their dishes. Trying their Bun Thit Nuong, it’s typically served in a large bowl with almost more noodles you can eat, is on a flat plate, consequently less noodles in your meal. Also with it on a flat plate, when you pour the fish sauce on top, the noodles don’t get to soak in it. The sauce spreads out and only the bottom layer of noodles has all the flavor. On an environmentally friendly note, I loved that they don’t use the disposable chop sticks. They use metal chop sticks, which also adds a little more elegance. Their shakes looked so good and when you offer mango as an option, you will sucker me into it. However, I did not enjoy it. It didn’t taste like mango at all. I couldn’t figure out if either they use a different kind of mango or they made a mistake. I asked the server, which she assured me it was mango. It was the first mango shake I didn’t enjoy. With so many other Vietnamese options available in the neighborhood, I can see myself finding my way to other places for authenticity, portion size, and flavor.

We went there for the first time recently, attracted by the sign outside: «Lunch Special $ 6.99». I don’t recall another Vietnamese place that has a lunch special, and prices everywhere have crept up for Phở to $ 8.00 or more. It was disappointing in that only one dish is offered for $ 6.99 and it is their Phở with beef brisket(#23 or #26?) and everything else is regular price. We felt the lunch special sign was misleading. However the soup was very good, very flavouful and with a generous amount of beef brisket pieces. Missing from the fresh additions plate was Thai basil which was another disappointment. Instead there was coriander(cilantro). We’ll go back again but only for this lunch special. It must be their décor, which is more upscale than other Vietnamese restaurants, that they feel they only need to offer one dish for their special.

This place used to be decent… but lately. every single time I get take out from this place, the portions of meat get smaller and smaller. They have added some type of veggie roll in the salad to avoid putting a larger portion of meat. If I’m paying $ 9.50 for a salad, I don’t want mostly crappy noodles and 4 pieces of bad quality pork. The last meal I purchased from them was absolutely terrible. The meat had a poor, stale taste and it was so clear that it had been sitting out for some time. The pork is bad quality and it’s quite chewy. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Pretty overpriced also. They also make a huge deal if you don’t pay with a credit card for paying less than 10 $.one time my bill came out to $ 9.00 and the waitress was giving me all sorts of attitude. All in all, this place has left a sour taste in my mouth.

This is the closest To Seattle phở I’ve had in Michigan. If they served it with lime and jalapeño pepper they would have it nailed. Regardless I’ll be back. Very good!!!

It’s Easter Sunday, my family has been sitting here for about an hr and a half. My parents and brother have their food served, the waitress then asks me if I ordered anything? Ummm yeah I did like an hr ago. Apparently I just like to stare at my whole family and all the other miserable guests waiting for the basic things like a menu, water, or any service ?!? The owner doesn’t really give a shit either. He has completely avoided all the guests and trolling issues with his unmanaged restaurant. Update my food is being cooked now and my family has finished everything. I would never refer any of my non Viet friends to dine here, as it would leave a terrible impression on them.

Everything in here sucks. Besides the decorations. Walking in, you’d think it’d be a nice place to eat. That’s if: you want lousy and beyond slow service, having to ask for drinking water, powdery bubble tea drinks, hair all tangled up in the noodles(as if it was cooked together that way) and not doing anything to accompany the customers(because the server didn’t come by to check on our table and I couldn’t tell them their was hair in my food because they were too busy lolly gagging in the back), and Palestinians serving and probably cooking your food at a VIETNAMESE restaurant. Overall, my experience at this location was not the greatest and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to this«Vietnamese bistro,» unless you want to waste their money, time, and sanity.

Food: My family and I ordered 2 Hu Tieu Mieng Nam Bun Bo Hue 2 Bun Thit Nuong Nem Nuong Banh Mi Nem Nuong Avocado Smoothie 2 Che Ba Mau Our bill came out to be $ 95. The portions here are very small. And I mean very small. Especially for the price, I mean. It’s not worth it. You can get so much more at Que Huong(I’m not advertising them, I’m comparing) for a couple bucks less. The flavors are pretty OK. I think they use too much MSG in everything though. The Hu Tieu Mieng Nam was pretty good. I mean, the broth was flavorful. BBH was very oily. Not spicy at all(which is good in some cases). Their meat smelled a little funky so I didn’t really eat it. Again, very little noodles. I think it lacked flavor(bummed because I really like BBH, but I never found the«right» place for it). Bun Thit Nuong Nem Nuong was OK. Their sauce that goes with it isn’t too salty which is always a plus. My husband really liked their Thit Nuong. He says it’s probably the best here compared to anywhere else. Avocado Smoothie was extremely sweet. I can tell they added loads of sugar. I didn’t eat the Che Ba Mau, but my sister said it was pretty good.

The three stars may change after I give this place another try but so far this is being generous. Quan Nem Ngon is clean as others have pointed out and that itself may have gotten them the third star. Otherwise, the food is a little lackluster. The oxtail phở we ordered didn’t even contain any oxtail! Whether that was oversight of the chef or they ran out, it wasn’t made very clear to us. The broth felt like it was missing something even after I added hoisin, sriracha, and lime. Also the dill tilapia dish lacked much needed salt even with fish sauce added to it. The banh mi was delicious as well as the spring rolls and avocado smoothie. Again I will have to revisit to see whether or not my opinion will change.

Very clean and modern dining space. The food is very fresh and they even provide organic ingredients which you don’t find it often in other Asian restaurants. Worth it to pay couple extra dollars for it.

One of those that I wish I could give a 2.5 rating for. Pluses: super friendly, nice décor and very clean. The phở lacked the delicate balance of flavors that I love phở for. It wasn’t the layered, complex deliciousness that I have come to expect. My four year old who has been to most of SouthEastern Michigan’s Vietnamese restaurants declared it her favorite and even picked up her bowl to drink every last drop. The noodles were too thin and thus were overcooked. I tried both the special phở and the seafood version — wasn’t a fan of either. Also the banh mi was good but their pork patties are spam. Personally, I wasn’t prepared for that but maybe that’s your thing.

Décor is very modern and nice. Their food is good. I like the diy spring rolls! Food is on the pricier side compared to the other stuff. The menu is limited. Im not a fan of their avocado smoothie, but my friends are and it comes in a good size. service is hit miss. Sometimes theyre tol attentive. Other times not as much. I also like their infused water.

I’ll admit it, I was skeptical of Quan Nem Ngon when they first opened. They seemed to be spending a frightening amount of $$$ on décor(compared to a typical Oakland County Vietnamese place) and opened up in the very same strip mall(!!!) as my favorite Viet restaurant, Phở Tai. But after a handful of visits, I have to complement them on a job well done. They still seem to be finding their identity as to whether they want to be a quick-service Viet Bistro or a more upscale Viet Cuisine destination. They are partially succeeding and partially failing at both, but overall it’s an unexpected welcome addition to the Madison Heights restaurant market(where there were already at least 7 other Viet establishments) The best thing about Quan Nem Ngon is that now that it exists, there is no reason anyone should ever have to eat at Da Nang in Clawson ever again. Like Da Nang, it’s nice enough inside Quan Nem Ngon that you could bring a date. But unlike Da Nang, the food at Quan Nem Ngon is actually quite good. I’ve tried a bunch of items off the menu so far and my favorite would be the Banh Mi w/sunny side up eggs(M6 on the menu). Imagine the best fried egg sandwich you’ve ever had and multiply it’s awesomeness x10 and you’ll have an idea of how good this thing is. And just like with several other of their dishes I have tried, the fresh Thai chiles take it to the next level. I’d advise you to order this the first time you come here and then branch out. The Com Suon and Bun Thit Nuong were also quite good, each 2nd or 3rd best I’ve tried in the area but with an extra-impressive presentation. I have not tried the Phở(of which the options are limited) though someone I dined with ordered the organic chicken«phở ga» and said it was amazing… much higher quality tasting/textured chicken than you typically find in phở ga. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are still some kinks to work out at Quan Nem Ngon. But they are definitely on the right track and every since their latest menu release/update they seem poised to move even more into the upscale Viet Cuisine direction. If they can somehow get their service experience(currently lacking on every visit I’ve made) match their food and décor, they will truly become a force to be reckoned with.

Quan Nem Ngon seems to still be getting things rolling. I read some other reviews and seem things are constantly improving. Have beautiful menus, no more marking paper. Couple other changes as well, for example I went for the first time two weeks ago and last week I noticed they now have a more traditional spoon for their soup dishes. The standard table spoon was not working for me first time I went. The stainless chopsticks are a little difficult with some noodles, but I like the sustainability of washable utensils. So far I’ve had some great food. Their Garlic Lime Fish sauce is bursting with flavor. Balanced with sweet, heat, salty, and finger-licking good quality. Cha Gio:(A1 $ 6.95) at time of review, and best I ever had. Very long, and thick(giggity). You get 3, but that’s more ‘roll’ then other places that give you with 5. What i’m saying is, not always about the count. Quality is second to none. Served with some lettuce and mint, I like to rip up a piece of lettuce, put in some hosin, and mint leaf, roll up and dip. Pickled carrot /radish would have taken it to the max. — Bahn-Mi: Had the pork and fish cake. These did not require any assembly of their own, and were delicious. Great size for the price. The bread has that very slight chew to the outside, but soft and delicate in the middle. Have to order at least one with each meal. Fish cake was really nice, but pork stole the show for me. — S20: Phở with oxtail: I’m not 100% this is phở, but it wasn’t bad. However, the broth really lack any dimension or complexity. They say it’s ox-tail broth, if it is I prefer beef bones for sure. Sliced meat and the ox-tail itself was good. Note the S19 and S20 have identical description, but S20 actually has a large piece of ox tail in it. — Bun Thit:(N28) I hear per my close friend the lemon grass steak version is delicious. I had the pork, and it was extremely tender and would just melt in my mouth. The bowl is a little odd as it’s scallop shaped and oblong. Would prefer a plain old large soup bowl vs. what looks like a jello mold. — Pork Chop(N11): Pork chop was good, pork on the Bun Thit was better. Nice sunny side up egg, with a really good rice. Nice big bowl of their garlic lime fish sauce. One pork chop was a little over cooked. Will be back.

3.5 stars. To order, you… — wait to get seated — look at the menu — mark what you want on the paper they give you — a waitress will come by, confirm your order, and take the menu/order page away We tried: — phở bo(beef noodle soup): the broth is clean but lacks dimension. It wasn’t rich, there was no flavor… but it tasted clean, and you won’t leave feeling lazy and tired from the MSG. Note — there are NO soup/phở spoons, maybe bc the phở is a relatively new item on their menu? So honestly, BYOS(bring your own spoon). — bun thit nuong(grilled pork + vermicelli + veggies): generous meat portions and thicker vermicelli noodles than I’m used to. The veggies/lettuce are also plated artistically instead of shredded. I see why someone said this is a fusion-ish restaurant. The presentation is fusion-ish. Also, the meat was WAAAAAAY too sweet that it overpowered everything else, and I couldn’t finish my food. — egg rolls: the bf thought it was okay, but it was just very bland and blah to me. — banh mi ngon: simply ok… not very memorable, in my opinion. — banh mi thit nuong: reeeally good. just as good as other Unilocalers said! Next time, I’ll ask for light butter bc it was too buttery for my personal taste. Other things worth noting: — fancy and clean looking restaurant! — service was slow but very friendly compared to Phở Hang… still haven’t figured out if I like non-existent/efficient or slow/friendly better. — water tastes clean and filtered! Yay! — there were about 3 tables(including 2 of which were on both sides of me) that weren’t cleared. Kinda gross. This place wasn’t busy enough to justify dirty dishes being left on the adjacent tables for the entire duration of our meal. — organic chicken noodle soup(phở ga) is $ 12. –______– — their sauces(hoisin sauce, Sriracha, fish sauce, etc) come out in these cute little bowls! They’re not on the table, so you don’t have to touch sticky, dirty bottles. This place has potential. They have the big picture right but need to work on refinement of the details and execution.

This place is new, just opened a couple weeks ago. I like the interior. You can tell that this place has been Americanized with the clean modern look. The service was good. Waiters were polite and we didn’t have to wait long for our food(granted it was a slow night). I was impressed that the young waiters spoke only Vietnamese to Vietnamese guests. I like that the menu was limited, hopefully this would keep their food fresh. There’s no Phở or traditional rice dishes so don’t come here if that’s what you’re looking for. Price wasn’t bad, maybe a couple bucks higher than the average Vietnamese restaurant. The most expensive item on their menu was a salmon dish for ~$ 18.99. They have mainly noodle dishes with meat($ 8.50), some specialized items, and salmon(not typically seen in a Vietnamese restaurant but a good addition) and banh mi($ 3.50 — $ 5.99). I would say everything was fresh. Presentation of the food was nice and clean as well. Overall the food was good. The appetizers were a bit pricey but it’s enough to share for 2 – 4 people. I recommend getting either the grilled pork or grilled beef or salmon with noodles. Both the pork and beef were very well marinated — you won’t be disappointed. Haven’t tried the banh mi but if they used the same marinated pork or beef then it should be tasty. Would I come back here? Yes! Would I bring a friend? Yes!
