Where can I even begin! This was my first visit to Michigan from Houston. We have a ton of great restaurants and this place really made me feel like I was home. A friend who was a regular here brought me in and we were instantly greeted with a hug and kiss like we were family. Coffee was good and hot. We ordered a little of everything off the menu and got excellent service. Food came faster than we could eat, but we loved the experience because we could all share our meals like a family. You must try the corned beef and cabbage! The portion was huge! Also the ham with scalloped potatoes were excellent. Homemade dumpling were from scratch and even surprised us with complimentary pancakes! For a decent price, we are our hearts out and even have plenty of left overs for dinner tonight! Wish I had a Betty Ross II in Houston.

I was told it was one of the best breakfast around town, I was highly disappointed. My young son ordered French toast which had two pieces of eggshell in it. There was nothing satisfying about my entire meal would not recommend it to anybody.

I didnt like seeing the cook move the trashcan with his hands and then go back to cooking.

don’t watch anything at this restaurant. Cross-contamination of your food seen a lot. Waitresses and owners touching food with out washing hands after handling menus. food being left out on towels and salad prep area. Would not be surprise someone was to get sick after eating!!! WILLNOT be back !!!

From the reviews, I thought I was going to be in for a pretty wizard breakfast but unfortunately it kinda blew. This week, my poor crotch fruit(kids) have this summer’s second round of «Jesus Camp»(vacation bible school) located over on 14 mile so it gave me a really good excuse to try some breakfast places over on the east side while they get their God on and I always love finding gem dives. First off I was not welcomed very warmly… The women there kinda looked at me pretty snotty when I arrived… I got a flashback to those seriously uppity chicks in high school sneering at me when I decided to wear my(insert wicked heavy metal band name here) tshirt… strangely enough, this particular day I was dressed somewhat like Hardy Jenns in the movie, Some Kind of Wonderful. At any rate, the whole time I was there the women behind the counter(2 of which I believe are part owners) would not stop jawing with a couple of regulars about what dude walked out on whose cousin’s family, who is in jail, who has dropped out of school again, who has gotten totally fat, who has their 3rd mixed kid from 3 different dudes, who still lives in Tenn but will be moving up here once the disability case is closed and they start seeing checks, etc. etc. etc. It was a whitetrash gossip barn burning good time. Had a hard time getting more coffee /water or even a smile. I didn’t really understand how a Gyro omelet is not on the menu. They have a gyro and cheese omelet(but if you want«feta cheese» and onions they stick you for another buck. They have a greek omelet with feta, onions, toms, and peppers… but of course, if you want gyro meat, it’s another bone. The omelet I got was underdone(I know, I know… THAT’S how it’s SUPPOSED to be, but guess what? I don’t live in Montréal nor France and I want mine cooked), it was über light on lamb/beef as well. My «well done» hashbrowns was the total highlight of my morning however… best I have had in a long time. Not the cleanest place, not the friendliest place, parking is pretty«squeeze» and when you back up to exit onto John R you better watch for clowns coming around the back from an unseen 2nd entrance off the side street.(gonna seriously strangle that blue-haired fucker in the crown vic)

If you are looking for an excellent breakfast for a reasonable price, Betty Ross 2 is a great establishment. I eat here at least 3 times a week and am very pleased with the service and food. Be sure and try the ham and the corned beef hash. If you are going here for lunch, you cant go wrong with the rueben or a burger. Be sure to ask them to poke a few holes in the box if you get a carry out so your fries dont get soggy.

Wonderful breakfast, good burgers and fries. You get portions way beyond the price you pay… The cousins are hilarious. They behave when their are new customers, but return a few times and you will love this place. It’s like eating at home with the family.

Disclaimer: I’ve only been here for breakfast. This tiny diner is great for a quick stop for breakfast. It seems the same four or five staff members are here every day. They’re all super friendly and welcoming. Good coffee: check Quick food: check Yummy: SUPERCHECK The food is always hot and fresh, with perfect hash browns(crispy on top, soft and super hot elsewhere). Pancakes are yummy and hot and fresh also. I can get out of here for $ 7 plus tip in 15 minutes.

OMG I almost shit a brick when I got to this review and seen this place has an average of 4.5**** I’m here to take you down a notch, Betty. Sorry girl, but you have this coming. I know this place has been around for eons, and back in my early days, was once even owned by a family friend. I don’t know who owns it now. Was working a Saturday not long ago, and they wanted to order breakfast so I placed an order for corned beef hash and eggs. When the carry out got back I went to dig in, but quickly regretted my ordering choice as soon as I opened the lid. THUNKY-CANHASH. I cannot tell you how very very disgusting I think this shit is! In all fairness, I tried it anyway, hoping for a flavor miracle. There was no miracle to be found. Flavor or otherwise. Everyone else liked their breakfasts, and I noticed some of the guys had grits. I love grits! I ate 3 bites before I threw in the towel. 3. Couple weeks later they’re talking about going again. I’m thinking to myself they must do something right cuz they’ve been in business forever. I order eggs, grits, and bacon this time. The grits had absolutely no taste, whatsoever. NONE. I tried adding butter first. Nope. Tried salt. Great, now it’s like i’m eating salty glops of goo. My stomach turned just writing that. UGH! I had 4 bites this time. 4. I did manage to choke down my dry bacon and 1 egg too. So what if the place is cheap? I can be hungry for FREE!!! The ONLY thing stopping me from a 1 star review is I know they offer lunch and dinner menus too and I haven’t tried those. Sorry Betty, some people may like you, but i’m not one of them. /Rant

Best breakfast around… This little diner has been open for years and has a funky décor of old Tennessee license plates. I’ve had nothing but breakfast here, but the breakfast is so good that I haven’t wanted to venture away from that! My regular dish is their breakfast special which is just $ 2.99 til 11am Mon-Friday. For that price you get a huge heap of hashbrowns, bacon or sausage(patties or links), 2 fresh eggs(real eggs), and toast. very generous portions and SUPER cheap. I recommend you get the home toast make sure you get it grilled… .big warm buttery goodness grilled on the griddle! Do yourself the favor and try this little Madison Heights gem!

we stopped in last week right before a night of gay and lesbian bowling at universal lanes. james and i always like to make a night of bowling complete with a equally skanky little diner dinner before. what an odd name for a restaurant. what a grisly scary man sitting at the counter. what a weird accent the waitress has. what wasn’t odd was the food. american, diner and hot. cheap prices. i had the hot roast beef sandwich, a meal that may scare most Unilocalers, but which i eat probably once or twice a year. a girl can’t forget her earlier life growing up in waterford. james had the stuffed cabbage or golabki if you’re polish inclined. i wasn’t impressed with the overly riced and tasteless dish, but my boyfriend and his michigan thumb tastebuds were happy. my golabkis are 10 times better, but these had a nice little char fromt he broiler that i think i may employ next time. the waitresses were quick and if not nice, acceptable. love, juston

I have to agree with Jesse on this one. The place serves up a mean breakfast. They offer real country ham as a side, the biscuits are outstanding, the sausage patties are huge and have just the right amount of spicy kick and their cornbread is more like a flapjack and is fantastic. The interior space is laid out like an old diner car with a long counter with stools and window booths opposite. The décor includes family snapshots and a long line of old Tennessee(shaped like the state) license plates that give it a comfortable, kitschy atmosphere. I have not had anything but the breakfasts here so I’ll leave their other meals for a future review. Interesting note: according to their window signage, you can special order a spiral-cut ham during the holiday season.
