Came here for the first time tonight with a meetup group, for trivia. The trivia was fun and the food was pretty good. I ordered a burger with mushrooms(free!), tomato, and banana peppers, on a brioche bun, and I also split an order of the«giggle chips»(fried pickle chips — the name was funny) with a friend. The pickle chips had a really good salt to pickle ratio, if that makes sense, and the burger was tasty too. Bathrooms are a little small but clean, and service was overall okay. They do crazy drink specials on Thursdays($ 3 for all drinks, after 8pm) and they also have karaōke, so I may come here again sometime. I’d like to try some other stuff on the menu too.

Food is decent, the bartender is okay, she is friendly for the most part(wears weird 1990’s skirts though… to each their own). The problem I have is with their liquor… tastes fake. And I’m quite the aficionado of booze. Like they refill top shelf bottles with rot gut versions. I’m not the only one in my party who thought this… and this was on three different visits… hmmmm…or are they leaving detergent when they wash them? Something is definitely off… the karaōke is fun, but the sound system needs upgraded. All in all a decent dive, stick with bottled beer.

Decent food, but each time we’ve gone, it’s been very slow service. Pizza is decent, but we wouldn’t go out of our way to visit.

Stopped by for dinner and a drink before a movie on a Tuesday around 5:30 and ordered a small pizza with 1 topping(they are supposed to have a special where you get the pizza with 1 topping and a 32oz pitcher of coors/miller lite for 5.99). I also ordered a Guinness. The pitcher of piss water was not given to me, even though I pointed this out to the waitress who said I had ordered another drink and so would not get it(I intended to give it to the guys on the table next to mine). Guinness is one of my favorite beers, and I am sad to report that this establishment serves watered down Guinness. I have consumed plenty of Guinness in my life and can even have a glass in place food and be full, however the Guinness I was served contained water as a diluting agent. The pizza was not too bad, but was still greasier than I would have liked.

My group of friends and I like to try out bars in the area but always go back to Augie’s. Yes it is a dumpy dive bar but the drinks are strong, food is top notch bar food, waitstaff is awesome, and the bill is always under $ 25 for 4 – 5 drinks and 2 apps. If you have not been here yet, do yourself a favor and stop by!

The Hula Girl is amazing. Tastes like an orange creamsicle yum. And of course their fries are great. Thirsty $ 3 thursdays make the deal the best though. Yeah ;) gotta love that. Oh yeah, and their pickles are delicious.

We live close to Augie’s but don’t visit nearly enough. Whenever we stop in we always have a great time and find ourselves saying, «We need to come here more!» The food is good and the beers are cold and reasonably-priced. The staff is very friendly and the bands they have are always a rockin good time. I applaud their efforts to carry more craft beers, especially from Michigan, but I haven’t noticed much of a rotation of the taps. Lucky for me I like Two Hearted and Vanilla Java Porter, but there are so many other beers out there! Check out their website for their numerous food and drink specials!

Last night, my friend and I walked into Augie’s, a bar I swore I’d never enter. For as long as I have known, Augie’s has held the reputation of the local bar, home to the misery which fueled my passion to flee a dismal, soul-crushing suburbia. One look around the aged lounge and its aged patrons, I proclaimed aloud«uh…no» and departed. Never to return. It was everything I feared. Hope and aspiration long retreated from the eyes of the decrepit drunkards. Stained shirts abound, windowless and ill-lighted, a worse hell is difficult to imagine.

Oh my aching head. So we were at a craft beer bar and some other folks suggested we stop at Augie’s to have a few and a bite to eat. There was a DJ playing some wishy-washy urban dance music and some old fav dance tunes from the 90’s, which was tolerable, but a bit odd because i’ve always known this place as a heavy rock bar. In fact, I saw the Black Crows play here under an assumed name back in the 90’s when they came on tour. That being said, they had a ton of weird beer on tap, so that’s where I headed. All kinds of ales and porters and such, mind you I had like 3 pints and the next day I was not well. Not sure if they clean the tap lines on the reg, if you catch my drift. Regardless, this place wasn’t as I had left it, and i’ll leave it that way.

This is a regulars bar. My boyfriend and I decided to go to places we haven’t been around where he lives and I knew someone who used to work and Augie’s and it seemed like a pretty cool place. When we walked in, we were met with stares from the people sitting at the sunken bar who clearly spend their fair share of time in the establishment, the rest of the place was empty. Our waitress wasn’t horrible, but she wasn’t very attentive or interested in making conversation with us(this only fueled the unwelcomed feeling I had). The bar itself looked like it’d be a cool place to hang out, it’s definitely set up for entertainment and not a bad place to watch a game, although their projectors need some serious updating, much like the rest of place ESPECIALLY the bathroom. The food was decent, we both got burgers and fries, the prices were reasonable, maybe a bit pricy for simple bar food. The thing that made me not eager to head back would be what happened to us after we finished our dinner. We wanted to stay after eating to hang out, drink, and watch college football, but once the band was setting up and a small party came in to the table next to us(they had a reservation) and the band’s groupies/girlfriends or whatever sat on the other side of us we were asked to move from the table that we had been sitting at for the previous two hours. My boyfriend and I aren’t ones to complain and are pretty easy going so we moved without hesitation when we were told the party next to us was apparently supposed to have two tables(granted the rest of the bar was still empty so not sure why they didn’t just move them to other 10 tables next to each other that had nobody sitting there). I was already feeling kind of fed up with the place, but decided to leave once the band’s groupies moved to the table we were told to move from, and no one said a word to them about the party that had no one else come in after we moved. It was clear that the girls just wanted our table because it was two feet closer to the stage and since they’re regulars us newbies got the boot. Not exactly how I’d run my establishment, but to each their own. I wanted to like this bar, but based on this experience I won’t be back.

We go quite regularly as its kinda close and they have good deals on food and drinks. Often times they have Bar Bingo or Trivia for frre drinks or food. All you can eat fish and chips — always good. Sometimes amazing and this is from some family fish and chip lovers. This place may sometimes feel like its Cheers and we’re not regulars but the food is always good(pizza, burgers, all you can eat fish), service is good, drinks are good and the bill is always right. We are not the bar hopping group anymore so we can not comment on the after 10 festivities but for a bar dinner with a good price you can’t go wrong.

I ventured back here after being away for about 5 or 6 years. «The old crew» and I decided to get together for a reunion of sorts, and this was where many, many good things happened back in the day… so why not? It hasn’t changed a bit. The same photos… some of which I’m in, some of which I took… still line the walls heading back to the bathrooms. We timed it so that we were there to see a Rockstar show… and if you’re not familiar with Rockstar — — shame on you, you should be. An awesome cover band of 80’s «big hair band» music: Poison, Def Leppard, all sorts of great music. That’s the band that originally brought us to Augie’s in the first place, and so it was fitting that we revisit there on a night of their show. There’s still, laughably, a pay phone in the men’s room… and once more, «damn you, Unilocal!» for not allowing photo uploads. First… a pay phone… really? Second… fifty cents? Really? Then you couple that with the fact that the men’s room is DIRECTLY behind the stage and therefore always loud… I would really, really love to see the set of circumstances that would lead one to use that pay phone. I really would. The waitresses are still the same… literally, they remembered us. It was fun going back… and led to a very«from the end of St Elmo’s Fire» scene as we saw a new crowd of twenty-somethings in our old booths that were obviously«the new regulars». Good for them… and good for Augie’s. May both they and the bar give each other great times and memories like the ones my friends and I have. The beer is cold, the pizza is good, the wings are solid and it’s a decent bar. It’s a fun place to see a band like Rockstar, and it’s a fun place to just hang out and have a few drinks with friends. It’s probably really only a three-star place, but I gave it an extra one for sentimental value… because too many places that I’ve hung out in over the years don’t engender that same sense of nostalgia, and so good on Augie’s for actually doing so.

Yikes. Terrible service(not our waitresses fault, it was the kitchen), below-average bar food, and sort of strange atmosphere. But trivia was fun!

I normally don’t get worked up over bar food, especially a bar where the patrons are people in there 40’s who dress up like it’s 1987 and are going to a Poison concert, but Lord Almighty I had an AMAZING chicken sandwich! Let me tell you a tale… My friends and I went here for a birthday party because it’s loud, obnoxious and a little bit slutty… just like us, I was hungry, I didn’t eat anything for dinner and I didn’t want to get plastered off dark liquor so I ordered the artichoke chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun and french fries. De-lish! The chicken sandwich was juicy, grille to perfection an huge portion too. The artichoke sauce was slathered all over the bird and was phenomenal! It was creamy with huge chucks of artichoke and had jalapeño in it too, which added a wonderful spicy kick in the back of my pallet. The pretzel bun was fantastic also! It was chewy on the outside and soft like a cloud on the inside. So much flavor in a bread, I couldn’t STAND it! The french fries were great too! they were double fried! DOUBLE! That means it wasn’t only extra fluffy on the inside, but it was extra crispy on the outside too! Magic! I’d like to go back during a week day, so I don’t have to listen to «Kiss Me Deadly» by a cover band on Saturday night. But if I had to go on a weekend evening, it would be worth it, that sandwich was to DIE for!

Fantastic and quick service for lunch carry-out. The manager was pleasant, friendly and thought-ful! I will go back again and again for lunch. I cannot say anything about the nightlife… I work veery close and they offer tons of lunch-time specials.
