I traveled to Madera for work. Having never been here before, I immediately pulled up Unilocal to figure out dinner plans. Low and behold, this restaurant was the highest/most rated spot in the city. I came close to closing time and there wasnt a single person in the restaurant. Despite nobody being there I wasnt too concerned. The restaurant is small and cozy with a handwritten chalk menu. The food is very reasonably priced. I ordered 2 asada tortas, 2 pollo tacos and a horchata for $ 8. The tortas are huge and with the bread being very unique. They are almost like small sandwiches. The bread is handmade and has an Italian texture and taste. Definitely makes a unique torta. The tortas/tacos are loaded with all the traditional fixings except they garnish with lemons instead of lines. Overall I would give the food 4 ½ stars. Good portion. Nicely seasoned. Fairly priced. I also had the fortune of meeting and speaking with the owner Blanca outside while waiting for my food to be cooked. Such a warm, sweet, genuine person. She alone deserves 5 stars. Overall a nice family owned gem in Madera.

Would go here a lot as I was growing up. Took my kids told them they were the best tortas in town i was so disappointed. Bread was hard and the meat was a bit over cooked. Nope not again.

Not from this town, so I ended up Unilocaling some spots to eat for lunch. Madera tortas showed up, and It had good ratings and with low prices on food. I ordered some Tortas, and I was a little disappointed on the carne asada. It did not have flavor, and I tasted more the bread then the meat. Maybe I needed to try some other meat. The prices are cheap, just did not like what I ordered

EXCELLENT! Just off highway 99. Make your tummy smile. Great food. Madeira Tacos is a place that you will not want to miss. Don’t let the exterior frighten you away. This place is clean and the food is delicious.

We had a special with chicharon con carne taco, chicken torta and soda which were good and a bargain at 3.99. The chicken tamale was notable in that the masa was moist and flavorful much like El Salvadorian and Peruvian tamales. We ordered a fish dish and were expecting filets but were served a whole fried fish which was crunchy on the outside and moist and tender inside, delicious, the owners are friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a stop.

We found this place based on previous Unilocal reviews. Not too far off the freeway, lots of street parking. Nice people running it and cooking. Food was excellent! Loved the carne asada tortas! You decide: torta, taco, burrito, etc. Then pick your filling: chicken, carne, shrimp, etc. Comes with lettuce, tomato, fresh lemon, salsa roja(if you want spicier ask for their delicious salsa verde). Menu has something for everyone. Try it!

I’m in love with a TORTA! This place is amazing! The tacos and tortas are delicious and the value is incredible! I only got the special(taco, torta and soda for $ 3.99) but was blown away by everything! The hot sauce had just enough spice and wasn’t too salty. The staff was extremely friendly and inviting. The whole dining experience gave me a very warm and homely feeling which I love! Even though I only had a taco and torta, the menu is quite expansive and I can’t wait to come back and try a quesadilla, burrito or even some Madtown Fries! :)

A small restaurant but it’s clean. Although they didn’t notice us sitting inside the restaurant for a good 10 mins(because they have an outside window you can order from too), they do serve pretty quick. Our wait time for our food to come out was less than 5 mins. The food was ok, nothing I would end up waking up in the middle of the night to crave for but it was decent. The price was just right and overall, if I am in town again, I would definitely come back. FYI: They do charge 50 cents for using a card.

Stopped here on my way home. I have to say, the small tortas we’re really good! I had the chorizo, carne azada and chicken, I wasn’t disappointed. I read some of the reviews and I see people complaining about the size, they need to kick rocks. They may be small but it’s $ 2! Order 2 for $ 4, not a big deal AND you can try different ones. I met the owners mom and she was super nice. She helped me with the menu, which I failed to notice on the wall. I highly recommend this place.

Great little Unilocal find off Hwy 99 in a neighborhood. We would not have found it without the Unilocal map. The other reviews are spot on. I get a kick out of tiny family run places with good food and found both here. The waitress warned me the dollar potato tacos were appetizer size, so I enjoyed two of the freshly prepared tacos with good homemade salsa. My husband enjoyed his tortas and taco with coke for 3 bucks. Clean bathroom which was a relief after our long drive up 99. There are even benches outside and fans over the 4 booths inside. Tasty quick stop.

This place was alright at first I was kind of hesitant in going in but then decided to give it a try. The Tortas are pretty small but theyre $ 2 so what do you expect? The flavor was kinda bland and it was a bit too greasy but maybe thats what made but for the blandness. I wouldn’t come all the way to Madera just to come and eat here but if im in the area maybe… The service was nice and the lady that took my order was really sweet :) Another plus was that the prices are pretty cheap!

Grew up in Madera and haven’t stopped by Madera Tortas in years and I’m happy I did. The food still tastes great, service is amazing and the it’s the best value in town. Where else can you get a home cooked meal for less than a meal at McDonalds. My favorites are the Tortas, Sopes and Fried Quesadillas.

Thank you Unilocal. We were passing through Madera at lunch time and needed to eat. Would have never found this place otherwise, as it is one block off a main road and on the corner of a residential street. Don’t let the bars on the door and windows fool you, the place is very clean on the inside, including the bathroom which we needed on the drive. Lunch special: $ 3.99 for a torta, taco, and soda. I see some Unilocalers have complained about the size of the tortas and tacos. It is true that the emphasis here is on quality over quantity. If the size is too small for you, for the price just get some more. The tortas and tacos are on homemade bread and tortillas. That alone is a treat. You can choose your filling: carne asada, chorizo, chicken, and others. I added a tamale to my lunch, so for $ 10, my wife and I had our fill of delicious, authentic Mexican cuisine. Wish we lived closer to Madera because would eat here alot.

My favorite taco and torta place! There was an ownership switch not too long ago and the corn tortillas that used to be handmade are now pre-made, but it’s worth it for faster and more consistent service. Before, your food was usually pretty fast, but occasionally took quite a bit of time, and now it’s always really fast. The carne asada is my favorite. The tacos and tortas are perfection, the burritos and quesadillas are pretty good. 3 tortas, 3 – 4 tacos, or 1 burrito is a big lunch for me. There’s an outside to-go window, or an inside restaurant.
